And he actually didn't play it on that guitar. Notice he's playing a strat when the sound starts. It obviously didn't work on the guitar he picked up and they edited it out.

Eric’s playing all through his solo career hasn’t much impressed me, I mean he’s a solid blues man, but nothing approaching guitar god status. Having said that, go back and revisit some of his Cream and Blind Faith chops. Some impressive playing then imo.
Jeff Beck defines the term "Musical Genius".
One of my favorite all-time guitar riffs. Sounds so timelessly haunting and yet so sixties.
Love that haunting 60s fuzz tone
my new ringtone
Completely amazing Jeff Beck
R.I.P. Jeff Beck .... you'll be missed
Is he the best guitarist on the planet today? Yes... Yes I believe so.

I just loved yardbirds.
Isn't it amazing that THAT Yardbirds was the mid 60s ish and he's still here, like Clapton, doing all he did then, now 55 years on.

not exactly. unlike clapton, who stayed in the blues and rock style and never really deviated from it, Beck kept on moving into jazz, fusion, etc. all the while coaxing new sounds from the guitar in original ways that no one else does
Jeff is like a single malt and just keeps getting better with age . I cannot think of another guitar player like this . They all hit a plateau .
So sad...We lost another great one today. God rest Ye, Jeff. Condolences to Your Wife and family and the thousands Who enjoyed Your fantastic playing over the decades. -Smythie.
Love the 60’s sound

“I can’t do it properly on this” *it proceeds to sound even better than the original*
I saw him twice at the Boston Tea Party; the old one on Berkley Street. Anyway, Rod Stuart was with him at that time, "The Jeff Beck Group".That was one of the best live performances I've ever seen. I enjoyed them more than Led Zeppelin, who I saw twice that same year. He is probably one of the most creative and versatile Rock/Blues guitarist ever. Everything from Greensleeves, Morning Dew to Beck's Bolero, which in my mind is a masterpiece of futuristic creativity. The man is Great!
Weird, he picks a Les Paul up and suddenly it's a Strat

That Esquire has that bite full open. I got a repro can hear the difference high sharp tone being fixed bridge it lets the bends GET REALLY SHARP .
Jeff is a very nice man
The reason he kept progressing is he wasn't tied down to a mega band.
It's the first solo I could play..
RIP.
They are. They were and often take another thing as well as chit chat - oh special ! Thinking with all that sort of thing we bungle, berk and grooove with twist and wotnot - that what it is with this one and others of course as well. In the moment of young and back then, we may think that hero is for ever and our dream is what we get when we dress up - but suddenly it just memory and wrinkles and next thing you know - all gone and forgotten - how can that be ??
I met him once and asked me which song I wanted to play of his. I named this tune. He didn’t seem too happy to play it.
RIP
Jimi, Eric, Jimmy...Nah...Jeff Beck, thank you...

Damn he does that with his thumb?
Jeff - great. Those divvy birds "dancing"? Did they actually dance like that? I was there but don't recall that silliness.

How tragic! They cut away from the shot where Jeff was demonstrating the final riff. Instead we saw some useless B/W footage. So sad.
They were called groups in the 60s not bands . The word band comes from America
Or you could just slide up to the 9th fret
Graham Gouldman's original version ain't bad either.

Yes, thank you. While Beck’s guitar gives the Yardbird’s version its everlasting signature, it’s a great song and Graham wrote it, as he did Bus Stop and a number of other songs for 60s groups long before 10cc
