There must have been times when Jeff was unable to express himself as fully as he would have liked due to encounters with various producers and the restrictions of his contract with the record company at the time. Even if this is one of his works from that period, I would like to empathise with Jeff's struggles and confusion during that time in his musical life. Thank you for posting this.❤

First off, the tone of Jeff’s guitar is “very thin” on all three tracks. Other than the fact every track has that particular 1980’s overproduced sound, the tone of Jeff’s guitar is nothing like the “killer” tone he had on the released album. Let’s be truthful, the album “Flash” had some exceptional guitar playing! The problem was it was encapsulated in music that Jeff felt no passion for except “People Get Ready”. “People Get Ready” was recorded two years prior the rest of the songs. Jeff did admit several times after he left the Epic Music Label (2004) that he had wanted to make another all instrumental album but Epic said no. MAJOR MISTAKE on their part! No reason to discuss why that was case, here. I did like the the music of the unreleased instrumental and Jeff’s Anthem. “Escape” obviously Jeff did not have the full melody worked out yet. The melody that does appear on the track is almost completely lost because of the mix. Overall, any JB song no matter how rudimentary it is, is better than no JB at all. These songs are worth a listening to. And maybe I will continue to listen to them from time to time. RIP Jeff Beck The Supreme Guitar God

Right, so I can report here from Belton (just south of Kansas City, Missouri USA) that Jeff Beck will always be held in high esteem by this writer for all the qualities we are all familiar with. Innovative, courageous, always pushing sonic limits, techniques, execution, humility. Intrigued to know he struggles with confidence. I can relate. Thanks to the music gods for landing me here. There's a reason you don't hear anyone playing Jeff Beck covers . . . a once in a lifetime talent.

It was good to see some of these British Young men dedicated with the performance of American Blues music. Some of them sought Black girlfriend’s over the white gal’s. The same happened in America. I remember young blues musicians walking around with a Afro Pick in there rear pocket even though their hair was straight. Some made a real effort to sing and sound like the black artist.’ They tried the Ebonics in their every day communication. One of the most successful white British singers to sound black convincingly is Steve Winwood who sounds just like Ray Charles. Google Steve Winwood “ Georgia “ Many lady fans of Tom Jones assumed he was black until he showed up for his live act and surprised he was white not black. I’m not trying to seem as if I’m prejudiced as I’m not.

It seems to me Jeff Beck did things on his terms, within his timing and was obviously the best of the UK if not America. Some are content to be a studio guitarist and earn a great living. Although Glen Campbell was from a different Genre and Era in 1960 he was an active studio player and earned a cool $100,000 per year. In today’s dollars Glen was earning One Million per year as a member of the Wrecking Crew, a group of super talented musicians who played on many album’s, Frank Sinatra, and all of the Rock and roll star’s of his time. Then he went on to be a successful artist in his own right. Jeff followed his own path and is to be admired for his contributions.

Yes! Hunter, Beck and Depp. Hunter said in an interview on YT this is Becks last recording. Yet Mark Knopflers charity single released last March says " last recording". Either way there are 50 guitarists on that one. One things for sure Beck plays longer on the Hunter song. Thanks

This was a fabulously laid back interview❤ He was so humble and nice guy. I watched an interview with Eric Clapton. He was still recovering from COVID and went to see Jeff in the hospital. He had no idea how sick he was until he walked in and saw all the tubes. When he left he got very emotiona,l When he died he went thru depression. He said Jeff Beck WAS the greatest guitarist in history. The day of his funeral he told Jeffs wife that some of the quitar legends just got together and was going to do a tribute to Jeff at Albert Hall in London. She told him that would be absolutely wonderful. R.I.P Jeff Beck. We were so blessed to have both you and your talent.❤❤

This is so beautiful!. Jeff Beck was so influenced by the music his mother played on records and also the jazz his Uncle played in his car, which was also an influence on Jeff, and probably why he collected cars and why he worked on them himself. There is a Bagpipe influence as well!! Cynthia Allen McLaglen
