Jeep Cherokee XJ Straight Axle Prerunner - Garage Build! | BUILT TO DESTROY

Straight axle 2WD Jeep Cherokee XJ!? Justin Wyche has honestly built a very good prerunner out of this XJ and we think he's pioneered new ways in making a go-fast Jeep. Also, Justin did this all in his driveway. This is going to end up being a 2 part episode because of how much detail went into this and how well Justin explains the work and thought process he put into it. You guys have been asking for this and we hope you enjoy it.

    It's not so much affordable home built... It's weather you have the skills to build at home.. and honestly a lot of terra crew trucks n cars are home built.. my Prerunner is almost done..90% of it at home..still cost me 50,000

    Broom handle analogy was great. My XJ has drop brackets from Trailmaster from 2000 when there wasnt much aftermarket available. Its been through jack, sledge, claw, outerlimits, wreckingball, upper johnson and its held up grinding over rocks. My jeep needs TLC and I think I will steal some of your front suspension modifications.

    Really interesting and different build path for this vehicle. To see a straight axle 2wd prerunner with the spring and shock separate as well as a floating foam bump stop.. never seen one built like this but I’m a Toyota fan so I don’t know much about XJs. I can tell a lot of thought and design went into this and the information on a build like this is very scarce. Interesting to see how he arrived at the choices he did.

    Wait. Why would the 2-door chassis be stiffer than the 4-door??? I figured it would be the other way around due to an added pillar

  • @Jusrin21

    @Jusrin21

    3 жыл бұрын

    Im no chassis engineer but the way i look at it yes there is another pillar but it is very narrow and not that strong. it also has 2 huge openings where the doors are that in my mind allow things to flex. i think of it like a soda can with 2 holes cut in the side vs 4 holes cut in the sides. the one with more holes is going to be way easier to crush.

Not a lot of info on short-ish wheelbase, solid axle, 1:1 ratio shock valving. I think I'm pretty close to having mine how I want it (perfection is always just "1 more revalve" away, right?
