Jedok Geom Form Part 1 and 2 (of 4) [katana training]

Спорт

Today I was caught doing the 1st and 2nd part of the Jedok Geom form as recorded in the turo in Muyedobotongji. There are 4 parts in total and this is just the first 2 parts. It involves an advance on the battlefield with multiple enemies to the front and cutting them down with fast spins and wide movements, followed by a quick spinning retreat out of enemy territory.
Swords: Blackfencer Custom Synthetic Sparring Katana 87cm blade length

nice one! i can imagine alot of the spinning is akin to the battlefield of creating distance when there are multiple opponents around you

I can see you wearing all the equipment during a zombie apocalypse so they couldn’t bite you and wielding a real sword and just lopping heads off

somehow reminds me with some For Honor character side dogde, i'm not sure about the idea of "showing your back" in sword fight but i don't know anything about that form in my opnion that spin is useful for "side dodge" to avoid thrust attack(?) maybe (based on my experience playing tags as kid, totally zero experience in sword fight/ sparring), it need big step to the side of opponent, i dont think its good to move towards n backwards your opponent still i dont know anything about that form, cool training u got there

It's a battlefield form. You're showing your back to people always may as well cut more of them

Interesting katana swing methods. I go to Iaido and the style I practice is Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū. But besides that I complement you even though I've never seen this style what katana art is this 🤔.

This is jedok geom. One of the sword arts outlined in the Korean historic manuscript muyedobotongji. It's a battlefield form hence the somewhat odd sword forms as opposed to the Japanese duelling forms

@@JustaBug There are also Japanese battlefield swordsmanship schools too but what makes Jedok Geom different from them is Chinese influence.Japanese schools don't have techniques like these but Chinese kung fu styles do.

Your execution of techniques is shit but I appreciate you trying to revive Korean Swordsmanship so I will turn a blind eye :) You should focus on the techniques and their execution rather than making them fast like those martial artists that don't spar.
