Justin Watson Jean is a powerful mutant without the pf but she holds back a lot. Read the X-factor comics. She didnt have the pf in them and was the strongest member at the time. She only had tk up to 66 and then she regained her tp. If u want to see jeans tp action then look into the revolution books. Scott didn’t say shit lol stop trying to discredit my girl

@@yuankun99 Nope, you're wrong. The version of Jean Grey that you see in X-Men: Evolution is basically 90s Jean from the comics. The power level (or lack thereof) that Jean had in the 90s cartoon is basically Jean from the 60s when Stan Lee was still writing the comics. But at least 60s Jean had the excuse of being a teenaged girl.

Unlike the original Jean, EVO Jean had been training intensively for a longer period of time (original Jean was the last one to join the X-Men) and had basically mastered her powers by the beginning of season 2. Someone wanted to right the original show's wrongs.

I really liked Jean in this version. She wasn’t so damn weak like her 90s counterpart and she was involved with everyone at their school, like a big sis.

90s Jean: Is a problem. 00s Jean: Solves all problems.

*busts open a gate she could have easily flown over* You know...sometimes it's about sending a message.

What I love about Jean in this show is that she's actually useful and proves how valuable she is to the team, and not just the team, but as a role model for mutants. You can notice that the younger members like Kurt, Kitty, Amara, Bobby etc all look up to her. While in the 90's animated series, Jean was pretty much just a damsel in distress. I love how Evolution captures the spirit of the X-Men in its own way. They take much liberties but also retain the core importance of the X-Men that sets them apart from other superhero teams. Like the fact that the X-Men are more than just mutant freedom fighters, they're a family. While the 90's series they're basically just an underground freedom fighting outlaws who fight crime and the government and in the films they're basically an academy whose staff members occasionally go out to fight anti-mutant organizations.

The main writers of this show, Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, created X-23 and worked on all the great Marvel animated shows like Wolverine and the X-Men and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. They're now working on the MCU movies. They were writers on Thor: Ragnarok. I really hope Kevin Feige puts them in charge of writing the MCU X-Men movies.

From beginning of the movie even before the attack to the mansion Jean shown something is wrong with her and she knew that too. She knew if she lost control it will be over for everyone in the team and all the civilians. So she deliberately choose to sacrifice herself. She stop to Kurt from teleporting her , she used telepathy with professor X , she stop the dam , she control the ship , she lifted the ship . And when she finally sure her friends are safe (she already have red eyes and she is literally losing all the control to her evil side she deliberately choose to let go so her evil side doesn’t destroy everything around her .(professor X literally created another persona inside Jean's mind in order to control her "so she doesn’t be a danger to herself and people around her " but it was a very wrong move because once that persona wake up it created endless destruction. And Jean knew this , professor knew this too . In the movies when wolverine time travels and old professor talks to younger one he advice not to Cage the monster in her and create her restless and much more destructive persona . And the young professor take that advice and that future turn out good . Until this time professor X loses control and kills every mutant (because he is old he has a seizure everyone died including wolverine but wolverine has healing factor so professor and wolverine we're the only mutants survived . And couple of lucky ones) in the end no happy ending for Jean...

From whatr I recall, X-Men "purists" were actually a problem, since they took issue with everyone being younger and in high school in this version (despite, yknow, "mutant school" being literally the main X-Men concept) dismissing it as just "X-Men for kids". Even though this show had the best interpretations ever for Kitty, Scott, Wanda etc. Got Jane, Professor, Mystique, Logan etc. perfectly too.

i will forever be grateful i grew up with THIS version of jean her telekinesis sound is so pleasing & the animation STILL holds up imo 🙏🏼

To be honest, I prefer Xmen Evolution over the 90’s Xmen because they actually made Jean Grey useful and they didn’t have that weird love triangle with Jean, Scott, and Logan. I only liked Rogue and Gambit better in the 90’s Xmen.

Evolution had a love triangle with Jean, Scott, and Rogue instead, but it was much less awkward. Rogue just had a crush on Scott, and it was actually endearing instead of creepy like Logan's possessive feelings for Jean.

This is probably the only version of Jean Grey that I actually like, that Train scene is so cool, imagine if it were remade in movies with great cgi

I've always think that scene is for movie version. Love this Jeangrey in her all aspects. Utilizing each and every things she can do with being a telekinetic and a telepath not like the original series who has been a very dumb and weak as hell.

90's Jean would have been destroyed by Evolution Jean. They should have really used this version of her in the movies. She's not incredibly powerful but she gets shit done and gets it done well. Both her 90's and her movie version nearly pass out or have to call on the Phoenix persona in order to pull off half of this Jean's feats

Imagine how powerful this adaptation of the Phoenix would've been.

Jean’s “phoenix power” was originally simply Jean’s own natural mutation evolving far too rapidly for her to control, and her psychic powers increasing beyond her capacity to regulate. The only reason it was later retconned that the Phoenix was a separate entity that duplicated Jean while keeping her in suspended animation was because the writers wanted to bring Jean back to life after she died in the Dark Phoenix conclusion, and not forget that she previously killed an entire planet of people. It was a way to not hold her responsible for her genocide and evil actions and return her to the X-Men roster.

At 3:46 It would've real boss if Jean had said "You got that right, BITCH!"

My favorite Jean scene in Evolution! I wish this could happen in the upcoming Dark Phoenix film, but that Mystique is good

Evolution has my favorite version of Jean. She has a fully developed personality and is an absolute unit! The way she buried Mystique 6 feet under gets me every time.

6:44 You see the psychic shield suddenly expand and morph into the Phoenix itself. It’s just green instead of red. This would lead into season 5, which Jean would’ve actually evolved into Phoenix as her mutation grew too powerful for her to be able to control (like the original intention in the comics - no alien Phoenix force) - sadly the show was cancelled here.

This is definitely the best incarnation of Jean.

As a kid watching X Men Evolution, I was always so enamored with Jean’s character, and her powers were just so cool to me. I’ll never forget the scene with the train exploding, it was very thrilling for me to see her hold the explosion from reaching the buildings!

As much as I love the 90s cartoon they did her dirty by making her so....like that.

This is why Jean is my favorite :) I loved how X-men Evolution actually showed off how awesome she is.

I'm so glad this show was my introduction to the X-Men as a kid and because of that characters like her : susan storm, scarlet witch and gwen Tennyson have always been my favorites

She starts the cartoon as very weak, could barely lift a chair, and would struggle lifting Scott and Kurt. But her power levels increased throughout the show to a point she was easily lifting huge military helicopters.

The reason the show was called "Evolution" was because it was about growth. Character wise and power wise

In X-men: Evolution they were supposed to be like 17-18 and jean did as much as possible not to mention how powerful she was at such a young age. Jean was super powerful without phoenix, and the other shows tried to downplay her power to make phoenix look like the peak of her powers. She did almost all the work the professor did and don't forget when we found out professor had a son and he was like mega-powerful yea she tried her best to fight back knowing he was stronger. In conclusion x-men: evolution was the best animated x-men tv marvel made :)

I’m still salty all these years later that evolution was canceled before there was a proper legion (the son you mentioned) arc ever properly happened, instead leaving with a cliffhanger episode regarding him.

Man, I love the '90s series, but it really did all of the female characters dirty. Every episode had a moment where one of them fainted and got saved by one of their male teammates. I know X-Men Evolution is very 2000s, and it took a lot of liberties, but it did a much better job of illustrating how formidable the X-Men were.

I love the sound of her power.

I want to see she being useful like this in the movies. Come on Fox!!!

You mean like what she did all the time? She single-handedly saved the X-Men from being buried underwater and atomized Apocalypse. I don't know why some people are in denial about all the good things presented in the movies, but it's pretty annoying.

Everybody’s talking about the train but what about 3:25 ? That was the coolest to me. Also a big pay off to Scott and Jean becoming adults ad developing their relationships through most of the series

That remains my favourite Jean moment in the entirety of the Evolution cartoon. And that's saying something, considering how many awesome scene Jean gets, some not even included in this video.

The scene with the explosion was incredible 😮. Best depiction of telekinesis ever.

I like to add in addition to the improvement on Gene's power set in X-Men evolution, can we all appreciate the costume was better in X-Men evolution ? It definitely was an upgrade

This one...they have her eye color correct like the comic books...emerald green...but in XMEN the animated series, her eye color is blue...even in the new XMEN 97, her eye color is blue.

I think Jean is a passive attacker she avoids too much casualties. She use more of defense as her offense. If she intentionally want to kill someone. She could easily crush them

I miss this show wish they had continued a season 4 & beyond

6:46 We see exactly the moment Jean began evolving into Phoenix. Like the original comic story, XME would have focused on Jean becoming Phoenix in season 5 as a result of her mutation causing her powers to rapidly and exponentially grow way beyond her control (no cosmic force). It’s a shame we never got season 5.

My only pet peeve of Evo Jean was that her psychic resonance was green. I would've liked it to be comic-book accurate and should have been pink.

90's cartoon Jean was nerfed so bad, she looked like she was a novice with her powers. Will never understand why they did that, Jean in the 90's comics was a badass like Evolution Jean!

This is why I like X men evolution so much more than the 90s version.

absolutely love how they portrayed her in this series, much better than what they did with her in the original animated show and Famke Janssen in the movies (although she had her moments)

My favorite animated version of Jean.

I like how this Jean can hold back dam water long enough for iceman to freeze it and hold back an explosion long enough for avalanche to help out yet the 90’s Jean can’t hold up a building without dropping it on some people or keep the blackbird from falling on the people hell she can’t even shield Scott from being hit by apocalypse’s beams. people complain about mcu Spider-Man being poorly utilized with his powers at least in far from home he could keep a tower from falling on his classmates,he can keep the infinity stone from thanos’ army by actvating instant kill (he’s killing an alien army not people there’s a difference), he can take thanos on in hand to hand combat on titans with iron man the guardians of the galaxy and dr strange and he can hold his own against Captain America falcon and winter soldier oh and did I mention that he did what 90’s jean couldn’t and actually lifted a huge that was pinnning him down so yeah there’s proof that mcu Spider-Man isn’t completely downgraded when it comes to powers or strength yet 90’s Jean wouldn’t last 2 seconds doing either of those things because the writers didn’t have much interest in her or her powers she feels more like a damsel in distress more than a powerful superhero. Evolution’s Jean grey while being a teenage feels more like the Jean that I’ve heard about from the comics she’s powerful and can get things done on her own without Scott or Logan like seriously how many times was 90’s Jean kidnapped by mister sinister

Jean floating down through the wreckage has big Phoenix energy. I wish this show would have gotten to that storyline

I loved the Evo versions of Scott and Jean- powerful, competent, and like. The honorary older siblings of every younger mutant who joined the school. I was _waaaay_ invested in their relationship as a kid, the amount of fics I wrote like 'AND THEN DUNCAN DIES HORRIBLY, MEANING SCOTT FINALLY GETS OVER HIS 'I can't mess with her relationship, she's happy with him even if I _do_ wish he'd never been born' THING AND MAKES A MOVE-'

Just imagine what they could do with Jean in the MCU
