JDM EF9 HONDA CIVIC SiR B16A Review - The Godfather of VTEC
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
A warm welcome to everyone checking out my latest KZread video!
In this episode, I share with you my thoughts on this JDM 1989 Honda Civic EF9 SiR. This legendary automobile is one of the most iconic cars to have ever come out from Honda Japan. Equipped with cutting edge technology and advanced technology from its era, the EF9 SiR was a vehicle that pioneered the revolution of the Japanese Domestic Market on a global scale.
Thank you to the owner Ed for sharing his pride and joy!

My family had one of those back in the 90s. It was the first car I drove. Loved it. I still remember how awesome the low sitting position felt.
Such nostalgia when my uncle built one with a B18C swap in the early 2000’s and what eventually got me into Honda’s. Thumbs up for the video Clay 👍
Remember my brother in law having an Si model of these with a simota intake, K&N Filter, sports exhaust and extractors. First Honda I ever went for a ride in and instantly fell in love. Can still smell the interior, hear the dohc engaging and can see my hand reaching then gripping the inside door armrest as my brother in law drove her on the limit through the winding NZ roads. Absolutely grand is that memory!!!

I remember my first Honda experience was a 1995 Integra GSR owned by my brother in law. We got it up to 160 and the VTEC crossover at 8000rpm was so loud. Still one of my best car experiences of all time that wasn’t in some 300hp freight train. I miss that car and was sad to hear that the new owner crashed it.
Love your enthusiasm for the Chassis. Arguably one of the best reviews! Keep up the awesome job!
Always been my favorite
Love your passion for Hondas bro, keep representing for the aussies
Bloody love fast fwds.
Underrated channel
As time pass’s And K-Series are killing the game I still find myself, building B16’s Love the Stroke, Love the Head Love when VTEC engages Don’t like the cam However, it can be build to compete Nice video, Great build ❤🔰
Alright that's it, this video just convinced me to keep and restore my EF Si hatch. These cars are just too damn cool!!
Glad you did some sound in wide stereo, that vtec cross over is really intoxicating when you control it under your foot
Great review mate, atleast best one I’ve seen. Love how you put us in the drivers seat and explain all your feelings. I’ve found that other creators just don’t do that.
God bless you for reviewing an EF so perfectly 👌🏼💯
2:06 32 years now! I have a 90 EF SiR and it's now almost 34 years old! I'm gonna finally start throwing money at mine soon! Right now it's just stock but it's in nearly perfect condition minus a few issues with the paint. Going to take it into a body shop to get all that squared away, and then I have to make up my mind if I'm gonna go for the K20 or a B20, or possibly even a B16. I know the K20 will cost me significantly more, but it's what my best friend that passed away wanted! This used to be his car before he unfortunately passed away in 2017! Love that forest green on that EF! Mine is white! I plan to keep it white with all black trim and hope to throw some black BBS mesh wheels on it in the future. Much love!

B20 with b16 head would be the best combo they pull hard af
I had a 1988 Si - that was a beast. The SiR was another level up and soooo rapid. Immense grip. One of these with a mild lowering kit, exhaust and filter - all I ever needed.
Hond for life Honda the literal definition of legacy Damn good video and editing care to share some tips 👌
Best video of sn ef so far honestly wellll doone bro thanks so much
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS
That torque velocity movement forward when the gear shift change occurs is bliss!
I love the simplicity of the EF's. One of the cars I lust after. My cousin had a B16 swapped EF. I guess my EP3 will do for now

Just subscribed 👌 great video. I love ef civics!
This car is a drivers' car - I own a R33 GTR but I can see how fun this car would be to drive!
Hey man, these cars are absolute legends and many dont know their background so well done kn the video. there are some clips of Senna driving them in japan also. I own a track prepped ef9 sir here in the UK
I've had heaps of cars but love getting back in my efs and going for a drive.
in Europe we had the EE9 with the b16a1 150hp :-) quite similar to the EF9. Tomorrow I'll see one H22swap to decide to buy and restore.
Swear I used to see this driving down high street road every morning. Gorgeous car.
I’m in love with this car 😍
I cannot decide between EF or EG is my favourite in terms of looks. But as long as it has Vtec it rocks. Currently looking to buy either 1
Awesome. I opened a new video from no other than Clay Wong 😍👌
great video bro, i hope so want to build my old honda. :D
I will never sell my wagovan. Theres just something...so weirdly special about the ef. I cant imagine one of these with a k, or even a J. They would feel like absolute rocket ships!

I’m almost want to sell it. It just died on the freeway one day. I was mobbin all day, I actually grabbed a EG sedan w a b20 & em1 transmission. Anyway the car was starting to be tough to get into gears and when I would let off the clutch while at a stop the car was sort of weak. The second day I had it it didn’t start until I tried and tried and tried. I drive it for a week no problem then it pops outta fifth I put it in fourth it dies and now it just cranks after sitting since the end of April. Smh I know it’s worth $ so I gotta make a decision.

Nah I’m in Salt Lake City, UT. What do you think does it deserve a motor swap or a rebuild? I got my 91 STD for $700 and my 88 DX for $500. So this is a big jump! xD

Original ef9 got no sunroof and no rear wiper, this might be ef3 swap to b16a engine, ef9 has got shorter wheel base compare to ef3

All around the world we got the civic but it wasn't an ef it was an Ed. American viewers will be mad at this.

As an ED owner I'm not mad, a little jealous and envy maybe. When ED owners refer to their car as an EF when its clearly not is when I get mad. Even if you fabricate an ED to a right side drive, it will still be an ED. I'm just glad I own this chassis, its been one of my dream cars since the late 80's.
