Jonas: "It's as if some people think that just because you're humble, you can't have ambitions. But I have ambitions. I have an ego,' he emphasized in an interview with Euroman. "I just don't want to be the one who talks loudly bragging about it. Then I'd rather let the legs do the talking.'

Vingegaard is on an extremely high level, even better than last year. Now it sounds like if Pog just did that and that he would have won. That's just speculation. Vinge deserves some props here. Third guy is over 10 minutes behind!!

it is never a Jonas victory but always a Tadej loss. it is still baffling to me that Jonas is talked about this way. Last year Wiggins called the race over in the first week and gave Tadej the victory This year even befor the Race started Jens Voigt said Jonas had zero chance of winning the tour.

First of all, Jonas deserves to be the 2023 TdF Champion. But it‘s also obvious that Pog & Jonas, If both are healthy, really close to each other. Except TT & downhill skills, Jonas is slightly better. But If you consider Pogs age, what he did over the past 3-4 years, not just winning the TdF twice, he is ohne of his kind. Pog can literally win everything, wheter Jonas is a typically GC rider. The good news is, they are both so young and I am pretty sure it’s just getting started!

Focusing so much on the idea that something has to be wrong with Pogacar really discredits what Jonas is doing. Pogacar was 2nd fastest in the entire field in the ITT yesterday and Jonas blew him out. He’s tired and worn down. Jonas has just handled the grind much better this third week.

Jumbo showed the world how to beat Pogi in a grand tour. They already showed it last year. Let him sprint for 1 or 2 weeks, make him tired and wait. Pogi doesn‘t like higher altitude, hot weather and steep gradients. Jonas is the perfect man for that job. Respect to him and the team!

Don’t cry for Tadej, he said that he would rather win TOF than the TDF this year, and he got his wish. He has already had a fantastic season by almost any measure, but if he feels disappointed and defeated from his TDF performance, that will be good for him. That is how he will get the motivation to get better. Lance learned to focus by facing death from cancer and being abandoned by the sport. He came back and won 7 TDF in a row. Jonas learned to focus by packing fish for a living. This is how character is built. Until now professional cycling has been a video game for Pogacar, if he is a true champion (and I still believe that he is) he will come back stronger than ever from this.

Vingegaard said around a week ago to the Danish media, that this stage and perhaps also to a lesser extend stage 16 would be decisive of who was going to win the tour. It would seem that he was right. According to a Danish TV expert/former tour rider who was out there himself to get a "feel" of stage 16. he got passed several times by Jonas, who was out there doing the most difficult parts more than once, to be even more prepared. Pogacar on the other hand spend most of that day resting, and he has done no other time-trials this year, to prepare for this, unlike Jonas. Jonas has simply been more focused, better prepared and taking advantage of his lower weight and having refined his technique, leaving Pog's brute force behind.

This was exactly what we could expect... So far (the first two weeks) the Tour stages have been in favour of Pogacar, but despite that Vingegaard was already in the lead. Before the Tour I expected Pogacar to have a minute on Vingegaard on last Mondays restday. In December when we did have the Tour presentation, everybody knew already that Vingegaard did only have two stages in which he would be the real favourit. And that's what happend. Jumbo-Visma has been keeping the pace high this entire Tour to wear out Tadej Pogacar, they learned their lesson very well in the Tour of 2021 and 2022 where Vingegaard was also stronger than Pogacar in the last ten days. On top of that the only two stages that did suit Vingegaard more than Pogacar were in the last days. All respect to Tadej Pogacar, he is by far the best rider in the World. But that doesn't mean that he is also the best Grand Tour rider... It is very clear that Vingegaard is the better TT rider and climber on the 45+ minutes climbs.

I thought for sure he would win the tour this year plus he dropped Vingegaard at will almost in Paris-Nice and 2-3 times in the tour. The new strategy with fewer attacks compared to 2022 was working. And then you do an amazing time trial expecting to take yellow, but no, a super human performance lets JV keep it. And now today. I didn't notice something wrong during the TT but the image Johan shows with his empty look, demonstrates that something is not right. And that cold sore at his mouth. All this happaning within two days and your justified expectations to win this tour after an amazing spring and 2 week performance in the tour goes away. Tough luck.

Watching Marc Soler give him a pep talk at the finish line, no more the aura of invincibility, just a kid who had the worst day on his bike. If you win TdF you are almost per definition the no. 1 rider - and if for some strange reason someone else can be considered instead - the reigning TdF champ is a least the no. 2 rider in the world. Of course you can look sick if your physical body shows symptoms of wear and tear. Hence the saying "Pogi's cracked!"..there is a limit of the body can hold up carrying you to the finish line, tdf is the ultimate tester of that limit, just swallow the sour pill and move on

Don't be dramatic folks. Jonas is a great rider without a doubt. The focus was on Tadej bc there was something clearly wrong about him. He didn't get dropped when it's just him and Jonas head to head, but when there was still a group of GC riders. He was off for some reason. I was personally happy to hear insights of potential reasons. So thank you so much for breaking that down.

Agree with Johan about the incidents with the motos… I’m only surprised there isn’t more issues with them because it’s not easy riding under 10 mph with a passenger on the back with the insane crowds to deal with. ASO are deflecting the blame by issuing bans to the moto riders, but it’s because ASO doesn’t want to dip into it’s profits to make the course safer. Unfortunately the TV commentators also sell the ASO line as they typically blame the motos too because I’m sure they’d be soon looking for a job if they criticised ASO

It is possible that Tadej was sick since Friday. It explains why he only attacked with 500m to go and on Sunday was bought back after the attack. And Jonas kept looking behind all those stages actually expecting Pog to attack earlier. About the TT. We all say Jonas was lights out because WVA got also beat by a minute + but WVA was spent throughout the race..he looked like he was gonna die after the finish. So Jonas rode well but it was Pog who was down.

Keto vs carbs. Poga looks to have more body fat. And it seems his musles are very bloated/inflamed "I ate.. And it did not go to the legs"..Sounds like insuline resistance. Boardering type 2 diabetis. Vingegaard still has good musle definision = no inflammation. So he must eat less carbs/more fats so that his insuline is still effective.

It is clear that a robotic approach to Tour training (Jonas) is winning over Pogi’s peaking two or more times throughout the year. He has to solely focus on the Tour and a post-Tour season. Can’t win the Classics and then kill it at the Tour and win against Jumbo.

I feel so sorry for Pogi. He and Jonas make TdF such an enjoyable thing to watch. It is clear by now that Pogi is not his usual self and the fact that he is still able to retain his overall position as second just goes to show what an incredible athlete he really is. Jonas seems in some ways even stronger than last year but on the other hand, Jumbo has clearly been focused on wearing down Pogi this year, knowing that Pogi's preparation and fitness were never optimal for this year's TdF. After all, his hand injury probably prevented him from making the proper preparations for the 2023 TdF. I sincerely wish Pogi a speedy recovery and hope he will be able to complete this TdF.

5% faster is a way above being just better. This needs to be explained. Either Jumbo or Jonas comes forward and provides some reasons, or people are going to speculate which is not good for sport. It would be great if Johan can comment on this due to his experience with doped winners. Faster bike, aero helmet, fish oil... are marginal gains that do not explain the difference. All those guys are at the max training mode and 1-2% is acceptable.
