The bassist now is the former bass player for As I Lay Dying. He adds some really excellent clean vocals live.

He's currently listed as a live member, so he probably didn't record anything on the new ep, was likely Mike. Josh is an awesome bassist though, so it would be cool if they make him a full member.

@@Andrew_182 Correct he didn’t. However he co owns (I believe) and works at Sparrow sound in which he produces and it sounds like he will be writing, producing and hopefully stays as a permanent member. Josh is BEYOND talented and I’m so happy he ditched AILD and is doing something new and exciting for him.

good move for him, I don't see Courtney hiring a hitman to do her dirty work.
I'm assuming Mike played the bass for this recording. He actually recorded all the bass parts on their album Eternal Blue. As an elder millennial, I love the 90's Garbage and NIN vibe of this song! Spiritbox never disappoints!

The bass is probably programmed, honestly. Pretty common way to get a super consistent low end these days.

you’re right! mike did the bass parts, if you’re on their patreon they posted studio videos of the recording!
This song brought back some serious old school Garbage vibes. I love it so much.
I saw Spiritbox in San Francisco a while ago and it was awesome to see them live!! Also got to see Bad Omens as well and they are awesome too. You should check out some Bad Omens songs like " Like a Villain" or "the death of piece of mind".
Saw Spiritbox at their first headlining gig in Grand Rapids, MI on July 15. Was everything I expected and more. They’re amazing and worth every penny to see live.

I was there, too! What a show. Was in awe the whole time, probably looked like a goon with my mouth agape just thinking “WOW” from start to finish.
This song is like the best kind of rollercoaster. Tension, tension, tension up the hill, then her scream and the heavier parts as you fall down the hill. It's perfect.
I love how into this song you got, you are truly passionate about what you do great to see!
you should check out the song Falling by Harper! she’s the ten year old girl who covered Holy Roller by Spiritbox, then performed it on America’s Got Talent, and performed it live on stage with Spiritbox! Falling is her debut single!
if you want an intricate progressive metalcore band to check out, i HIGHLY, *HIGHLY* recommend you check out ERRA. their guitarist (and clean vocalist) jesse cash is one of the absolute best in the game with both his riffs and vocals, but the band as a whole is so tight. their ability to generate complex and sonically stunning soundscapes is really out of this world. some song suggestions i have are: the hypnotist (ambient and intricate), gungrave (heavy and gamechanging) and dementia (what most people call the band's masterpiece).

LOVE LOVE LOVE ERRA
Probably Mike played all the bass on this, as he has done so for all the rest of their stuff. They’re playing Red Rocks Amphitheater in October, which is gonna be insane.
Saw them at Download this year in the UK and they were amazing. Courtney is even better live.
Such a banger of a song. I still can't get it out of my head. That groove, man!
Thank you to Spiritbox for writing intelligent music, great reaction and analysis!
Spirit Box are their own vibe!
Oh hey, another CT resident! They played back in March at the Oakdale in Wallingford with Underoath. Next time they come around though, I definitely want to see them. This song friggin rips, it's so vibey. One of my favorites of theirs. Mike's pick scrapes are an underrated element to the music that, for me, adds so much to the vibes. Also, it's 2022 😅
Awesome video as always, sending this message from Brazil, big fan of you and Spiritbox❤️
"Oh f... ohohoho spirit f'n..." Out of context is the best context.
Been waiting for you to do this video, I'm stoked!
As always, such a good reaction and I truly appreciate your musical knowledge. You are truly one of my favorite KZread channels because you understand what you react to at a level I am not educated enough to comprehend. Keep it up man, we all love your content immensely!
Already saw them July 15 in Grand Rapids 😎 Best day of my life so far. Courtney's vocals are on another level live 🤘
I love your musical education in every video!!🙏🏼
Spiritbox are fabulous
The new Dance Gavin Dance album 'Jackpot Juicer' is a must! Probably my favourite release of theirs to date!

Should just do a full week of Jackpot Juicer songs TBH
They are touring with Mastodon and Ghost and will be in NY and RI in September! That will be a killer line up.
Great Breakdown and reaction!
Been waiting for this :)
4:43 instant stank face. Saw spiritbox on the underoath tour in st. Pete and her vocals live are amazing!
Great reaction! I always come here for the musical insights to my favorite songs, it’s really eye opening. You should react to Hysteria next, it’s my favorite out of the 3 new songs they released
Mike (guitar player) records bass for all the songs. He also used a 9 string guitar for this ep. Some metal bands like to have one person record all the strings to make them as unison as possible.
"Courtney Demonize in Aisle 6" at the grocery store. LOL
Ah yes the spirit box video I’ve been anticipating! 🤘🏼
Hi David! I’ve been gone from watching KZread for a while. Saw you pop up with this today. Their song off this same release called Hysteria is beautiful. My favorite of the release.
I've been waiting to see what you would think of their new stuff!!
It doesn't have a music video that I know of, but I'd love to see your reaction to the amazing guitar work in Spiritbox's Sew Me Up. Everything they put out is just.... perfection
Gotta do Hysteria!
Nice resume as always 👍
They’re currently supporting Ghost and Mastadon on a tour. Not sure if they’re going close to, or in Connecticut.
Seeing them opening for ghost in Asheville first week of Sept. and expect it to be amazing.
"Die Another Day" and "Feels Bad Man" from the New Dance Gavin Dance Album are 🔥. You need to do reacts to both of them.

Feels Bad Man is great but he should also check out One Man's Cringe and Holy Ghost Spirit! Honestly probably my favorite songs from the album. Hopefully he reacts to them soon
You should definitely should check out some songs off of the new Dance Gavin Dance album “Feels bad man”, “Die Another day”, and “Swallowed by eternity”
The 3 song EP they put out is banging. Sew Me Up is my favorite of the 3, but I love the new sound from Rotoscope. Also, the new Dance Gavin Dance album dropped on 7/29. You should do a reaction to the new video they did called "Feels Bad Man"
@halcyondaze2535

Sew me up was my favourite of the 3 as well 🤘🏼it’s just a steady slow head banging beat. I love it
Just saw them live in Grand Rapids, they played this song, the whole show was epic! They still have Bill playing bass, even doing some clean vocals! Not sure where he was for this video though

I think that may be Josh, who looks surprisingly similar to Bill at a distance…
Lol I got a car with a working horn & I use it so much less than I thought I would. I can go all guttural when needed ha
I wasn't a big fan of the song the first time I heard it. Now, it's probably in my top 5 or top 3 of their songs.
hoping one of these days to see Distracted on here!
You missed it!! I saw them in Wallingford in March!!
I think you could appreciate the vocals of Noah sabastian from Bad Omens
Would love to see you react to Deftones if you haven't already, maybe digital bath, knife prty, cherry waves, and needles and pins?

we need some Bad Omens! "Just Pretend" maybe😃
I would love to see you review black hole by we came as romans. You seem to understand metal and post core very well and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this band as I have loved them for years now.
I think you should check out Ghost - Dance Macabre. They are such a great rock band happening right now. I just saw them live and it was awesome.
You should do a reaction of The Wise Mans Fear!!
I love spiritbox; absolute stan. Question to everyone; does anyone get a madonna vibe from this song? That's the way I've been describing it to everyone I show it to.
You should react to Denzel Curry’s new album Melt My Eyez See Your Future. Lots of jazz influence on the album. It was released before Mr. Morale and the themes are pretty similar. Great, vulnerable album
Dance Gavin Dance fans hearing him say "not like lost like "dead", got forbid": 😬😭 Great review, love Spiritbox!!
React to hysteria I love that one!
Hi David, I don't know if you've done a Linkin Park reaction lately, but I think you would really dig their song Breaking the Habit. It's a top 3 Linkin Park song for me, and honestly I don't know another song or genre that sounds like it.
SUNG ZUNG CHA! hahah
Whoah! I would have never guessed you're from CT! What county do you hail from?
Can't say I prefer this poppy-metal hybrid sound, but this EP has grown on me a little. Still, I think their earliest stuff was best, before Eternal Blue. The Mara Effect is and will always be a marvel of songwriting.
finally :D
Please react to bad omens, starset, and set it off also more Ice Nine Kills
You need to listen to Sleep Token - Atlantic 🔥🔥🔥
Please react to silk sonic love train LIVE VERSION!!! You mentioned you wish u could watch them perform the song live and they KILLED it. Please please please
Sleep Token - Higher
Their old bassist didn’t even play anything for these albums, all the bass was played by Mike (the guitar player). So although Bill was on the cover and played live for a while, he didn’t really add to their creativity. And I’m assuming that’s why they moved on without him when they saw Josh available.
Not sure how I feel about the new sound of this song, loved Hysteria though
You should check out anything/everything by Badflower!
Do I re-start trying to convince David to react to BLESSTHEFALL? 😭😂
Still haven’t reacted to my favorite band HIM yet. In Joy and Sorrow please
Please react to Coffin by Holding Absence
Offers to meet up with us IRL. "That's a bold move Cotton, let's see how it works out for him"
If ya get a chance check out hysteria it's off the ep this was on. It's amazing!
Please react to So Fine by Mint condition I promise YOU"LL LOVE IT
Great video! Can you please react to You Me at Six - Deep Cuts next
you should react to Willow's new song "maybe its my fault" you will like it
Can you do Vendi Im by Elvana Gjata and her sister Migena Gjata

Always nice to see musicians going through music. You might want to check out the band called Saphath with their music video "Outcast of Eden" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/q2x7j6qbYdSYlsY.html) or if you dig technical stuff - their fresh playthrough of "Asphodel Meadows" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/n46Jj9JwqK-Wgbw.html), there is some magic going on
You should react to Billie Eilishs cover of Fever by Peggy Lee. It was at the Hollywood Bowl a few weeks ago.
Can you react to feels bad man by dgd 😬
I think you would enjoy the band imminence if you haven’t already reacted to one of their songs. I’d recommend temptation to start off :)

I feel like if you busted out the “demon voice” in a non heavy metal setting people may not take you seriously and you may end up in a straightjacket 😆 I think what’s so compelling about scream vocals is that fact that it’s an explosive expression of that which we do all have to hold inside to remain a part of civil society. Parkway Drive’s song “Wishing Wells” would be a good example of writing some deep emotional lyrics expressed in brutal heavy vocals. But then there’s bands that will scream about Pizza 🤷🏻♂️ screaming vocals kinda lose their effect on me there… None the less, if you are jamming on the way to or from work who’s gonna stop ya from screaming your lungs out am I right 😄

Very industrial
I completely disagree about your wall of sound comment, that's usually more a total and constant bombardment of many sounds, I don't feel this fits the bill at all.
