I've been having a hell of a time fitting lessons in lately and it's very aggravating that I can't make as much progress as I'd like. Hopefully I've found a job with a much better schedule by the time this video comes out. Our plan was to work on this jazz combo during the week after my teacher retired, but he hasn't been able to because of Joe's economy and he is usually playing with his band on the weekends which is when I'm free. I've been half-ass taking lessons for over two years now, it feels like a lot less time for some reason and I really hope this changes soon because my current routine is killing me. This video is basically the culmination of my frustration and fear that despite my best efforts, I'm going to get stuck in my old ways after my lessons fizzle out, even though I am genuinely trying very hard to change my habits and actually get involved with the music scene. I would've been able to quit my straight job a while ago if my car didn't break down every few months, I've applied to several day jobs so I can get off of night shift but my resume isn't exactly a banger so it's pretty hard to actually get a call back from these places, you get one f%cking warehouse in your work history and suddenly everyone stops taking you seriously as a job candidate, not to mention the disgusted looks I get from people at open mic nights when I tell them what I do for a living.
