Thanks for this great video. It shows how Jason generates his high rev rate. It shows that the same rev rate can be accomplished by single handed bowlers like my friend and I (albeit with considerably less accuracy due to a lack of skill). It’s so much fun to see a ball slide down the lane and then violently zip across it at the friction point. It’s also nice to see that Kyle Sherman was watching on.

Thanks for the comment PebblesChan, and yes you can generate more rev rates with or without using your thumb. Feel free to send us your videos to media@athleticbowling.com and one of our coaches might give you some free tips. :)

@@AthleticBowling - Many thanks for the offer. I’m retired now but was happy to bowl many 250-289 games (even with an AMF Black Angle). My method is to let the ball do everything. I merely just launch the ball according to the conditions minimising my (mis)influence on it. Then came along synthetic lanes and reactive resin which just meant I could move further to the left to get the desired ball entry angle into the pocket and hit the king pin as I’d like. Being an Aussie I may visit Belmo at his home bowling centre at Orange.

It’s easy to bowl high scores by yourself in practice or in singles matchplay. High Scoring in Team competition is just mental and physical composure adaption. i.e. putting up with the disjointed and interrupted play. (No whinging like PDW and Sean Rash).

There are several things you can do. First, does your ball have a strong natural hook to begin with? If so, then bowling a bit slower and releasing lower to the lane when you release will give the ball more time on the lane, thereby giving more time for it to “hook.” Otherwise, the sudden straightening of your arm, wrist, and elbow from a bent angle helps to create more force. That’s just generalized help, though. Your best bet will be talking to your local bowing pro shop owner or a coach. They can see how you bowl and give you more specific tips to your situation. Best of luck, friend!

He does it to get his right hip out of the way so his backswing can line up with his target. Watch his shoulders and slide foot at release - everything is lined up facing his target.

@@xenogears5177 the argument that two handed bowling is an unfair advantage is so baffling. As if bowling has anything to do with how you like to generate power. It’s all about consistency and adaptation.
