Jason Becker ABC2008

Музыка

A 2008 Update on Jason Becker and his new released CD "The Collections"
Jason Becker, (born July 22, 1969) is an American neo-classical metal guitarist and composer. At the age of 16, he became part of the Mike Varney-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman. They released Speed Metal Symphony in 1987 and Go Off! in 1988.
At the age of 20, he joined David Lee Roth's band, replacing Steve Vai, who went on to join Whitesnake. While recording the A Little Ain't Enough album and preparing for the subsequent tour in 1990, Becker began to feel what he called a "lazy limp" on his left leg. He was soon diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and given three years to live. He could barely finish the recording, using low-gauge (thin) guitar strings and other techniques, which would make it easier to play with his weakening hands. Although he managed to finish the album he did not join the supporting tour due to his inability to perform on stage; former Lizzy Borden guitarist Joe Holmes took Becker's place on tour.
He eventually lost the ability to speak and now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Although his ALS gradually robbed him of his ability to play guitar, to walk, and eventually even to speak, he still remains mentally sharp and, with the aid of a computer, continues composing. In the back of the Perspective CD case, Becker states "I have Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. It has crippled my body and speech, but not my mind." Now in his 30s, his medical condition has remained stable since 1997. No recent updates pertaining to Jason's condition has been heard of aside from him stating that he has felt a little better and gained some weight, but this was in 2003.
On November 4, 2008, Shrapnel Records released a new Jason Becker album entitled "Collection". The album includes three new songs in addition to some older recordings (some never before released) and features Marty Friedman, Greg Howe, Joe Satriani, Michael Lee Firkins, Steve Vai, and Steve Hunter.

Tala R see i do not think so, he did a lot on black holes, but most of its theory as nobody could actually get near a black hole it’s all guess work and also he proved himself wrong on his theory like many other scientists do, there is no actual evidence of truth in what Stephen have said about black holes, they could be just whirlpools or energy like we get whirlpools of water. it’s like scientists have told everyone what the core of our planet is made from but the deepest anyone have bored and hole is about 7.5 miles so the scientists are lying again as the core of this planet could even be made from quartz, and the scientists are so intelligent they can tell us what other planets cores are made up from i this they are lying to us all lol, and I think the universe have always existed not caused by a Big Bang lol... Please tell me how Stephen have changed this world and what he have done for us? What have we really learned from him? And how have it made any difference?

I've been playing guitar for almost 7 years now and I've always thought about how my biggest fear is not being able to play guitar anymore, and then you look at someone like Jason Becker who is more than just a guitarist but rather an innovator of the instrument who could play circles around the majority of guitarists on this planet and realize that this fear has become his reality. The fact that this man was stripped of his life's passion simply because he was a random and unlucky victim of ALS is just heartbreaking. If I were in this man's shoes I undoubtedly want to die, but somehow he still manages to give off a positive demeanor and composes music. All I have to say is WOW what an utterly incredible human being.

He just naturally loves music so much. Having ALS stopped him in many ways, but because he loves music it opened other doors for him. He still makes music albeit in a different way, but for someone that can't move or speak, he has one hell of a business enterprise going. He is driven, he wants to succeed, and hence, he does. I think it's miraculous, but then again this is Jason Becker people. He's got his cd's out, he has managed to put out a series of guitar modeled after his own..great!

if you really want to see an inspiring documentary, find and watch the documentary of Jason's called "Not dead yet". I had known of Jason from the 80's shredding days but never really kept up on him and lost interest of the 'shredding' guitar style as i played into the 90's with heavier music. When i saw this film, my jaw just dropped. I dare anyone to NOT cry when you see the part in the film when he needs help to hold his head up. Its so devastating to watch, but then to see him battle back and stay so positive is so amazing, i wish i could meet Jason and just shake his hand or give him a hug. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009. Not anywhere near as debilitating as ALS, but i certainly cannot play guitar as i used to, but watching the film gave me a kick in the ass to keep playing and never give up. Thank you for that Jason. :)

My friend and guitar player Mark was paralyzed in a car accident. It destroyed him to not play his guitar. It was horrendous watching him wilt away. We recorded one last song together. We wrote it together and he sang. He could only sing 1 line at a time due to the loss of his diaphragm. He sounded so weak. He only lived for 5 more years. His inability to play guitar was too much for him. He warned me that the next time that I saw him, he would be in a box. He was right. Now it haunts me. This video just brought it all back. Renuka Arun - You really need to learn a few things. There is no recovery from ALS. Becker has like quadrupled the life expectancy for someone with ALS. It is an amazing person. His family and friends who help him deserve SO much credit. What they do it amazing..and must be insanely difficult. But what you said...'god'....and 'speedy recovery', shows your ignorance to a lot of things. Don't talk about things you don't understand and give other ignorant people false hope. If there really was a god...how could this god burden a person like this? There is no god. There is no recovery from ALS. Read some books. ..to everyone else, I'm sorry...as I know that this isn't the place for a message like this. But I had to do it. The ignorance, no matter of its good intention, really irked me. How someone can be so naive and ignorant boggles my mind.

That is what it takes to be a true Musician. When life rips away everything that matters to most people, you keep playing, pushing past all physical boundaries simply to make music. Play on Jason \m/.

In the possibility that Jason himself reads these comments; I will abstain from offering any words of pity as they are unsuitable for a man of such immense talent, power of spirit and commitment to making the world a better place through his music. I will then offer the greatest compliment I can contemplate: you might have some physical limitations, but you are as incredible and talented a musician as any I ever seen - or heard. You're just a regular musician now, you might not be able to do a windmill but more importantly as Don Henley has always said, its all about the songs and the music. Keep on keepin' on, brother.
