This video is spot on for my Spitz. He is a very good loving attentive dog. I am his person and he is my shadow. Every step I take he is behind me. Even when I shower he lays outside the tub and waits for me. I love this though. I cuddle and play with him all day. He is one happy baby. He does shed alot but I try to brush him every other day. When he barks look out. Loud. Best dog I've ever had. It's worth it for the couple of negatives. They are very loyal pets. He loves car rides and dog parks. ❤❤
We have had 3 Japanese Spitz. One of them would climb over our 6 ft perimeter wall so he could run around the neighborhood. All 3 of them are good with kids. The smallest of them loves kids but would always growl at adult visitors even if she is already familiar with them. They would all bark aggressively when strangers approach the house whereas our Labrador would just sit back and wiggle her tail at an intruder.
American Eskimo dogs also have a dirt repellent coat. They can roll in wet red dirt and when their coat dries the just brushes off. They are also extremely smart and easy to train. They’re always happy looking for fun.
My JS was a nightmare puppy up to 4 months old, but has been pretty ok (and getting better and better) up to now at 15 months old. He's not a cuddly dog, bit nervous about kids (he wasn't socialized a lot with kids, mostly just with grown ups) , but is nice to our nephew and niece. He's smart, maybe a bit too smart. He's a thief, and loves to shred toys (or slippers/socks/shoes). He has a deep bark, and will alert us if someone walks by. BUT, it's not too bad, and the neighbour dog is much worse then ours. He's out in the garden all day (by choice, loves the outdoors!), and the barking is just now and then. It's a work in progress. They are bred to alert, so he does his job. Be prepared to work on it. He's indiferent to strangers, but will quickly warm up to them if they have TREATS. He's incredibly bribeable. Not had any problems with tear stains btw. Make sure to get a pup where mother and father doesn't have these issues. We also got to visit the puppies form a young age, so could look out for tear stains early on. I love the fur. Haven't washed him at all, and there's no smell. (I've rinsed off some bad poop once in a while, but that hardly coutns as a bath.) He's been covered in mud from playing with a doggy friend, and 15 minutes later, he's white again, and the dirt is on the floor. Aside from him being a complete horrible landshark in the early months, I can't recommend this breed enough. They are just so lovely and spunky. He's well mannered, and aims to please, though once in a while he'll be like "good suggestion, but I think it's better if we ". (The fact he's bribeable solves the issue if he can't get his way.)

"I love the fur. Haven't washed him at all, and there's no smell." Their coat is literally teflon, nothing sticks to it. That doesn't mean they don't need a bath/groom. At a minimum, twice a year but every 3 months is spot on. Deshedding shampoo in spring is a must but use it at every wash and rake out the undercoat. They will thank you for it as it allows them to cool themselves with their fur. You will have also have less fur all over the place Never soak a JS during summer and leave it dripping wet as it will overheat. They use their coat to cool themselves and they can't do that when it's soaked right thru. You should also brush their coat out at least once a month to keep it healthy and the skin also. 10-15mins every 2 weeks is sufficient. The more often you brush it, the easier every grooming session will be. ASK ME HOW I KNOW Ohhhh, and if you have the room & can afford it, get him "A FRIEND"

@@extremeknucklehead3637 I brush him daily, and I do wish I had washed him more. I an scared to try now.
I have one now that is so playful.
The best doggo I've ever had is my JS, she's freakin' amazing. She's 4 years old now and as a puppy was kind of wild but now she's literally just a cuddle bug. She sleeps by the front door all day until walk times; then cuddles in my arms every night when we go to bed, while still watching out for danger and being on guard. Any noise she will definitely go on guard and start barking. I do work from home so she is only away from me 2-3 hours a day MAYBE if I have to run errands. The only problem is her shedding twice a year. Carpet literally covered in inches of fur twice a year which sucks but easily cleaned up. Also *Edit* just using filtered water instead of tap water my spitz and my Bischon doesn't get tear stains.

"The only problem is her shedding twice a year. Carpet literally covered in inches of fur twice a year which sucks but easily cleaned up." Hit 'em with deshedding shampoo just as as deshedding time comes around When you're done doing your 1 spitz you can come do my 5
My dog is a Japanese Spitz as well but he's too noisy even when he was just 2 months old and super duper clumsy like last year he made a scar on his leg by climbing her cage, even though he hurt himself he still keeps climbing his cage, why? Because he is such a hyper dog like won't stop running around, but the cute part Is how he sits when he's tired from all of his running hahaha ,I don't say it's bad to have a Japanese Spitz as pet but I think this only perfect for people who likes adventures and has a energetic life
All my dogs have been Japanese Spitzes. I have one now whom I spoil a lot 🥰🥰🥰
I like this beautiful dog😊👍🎖
All pros, no cons. I didn’t even have to watch the video.
to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and/or PROBABLY will EQUALLY really LOVE the german and japanese spitz
My Japanese Spitz also know how to howl just like my Siberian Husky does 😂😂😂
I’ve had one. Not great with children, always bit me when I played with her. Always followed my dad around and is mean as heck. They are a good guard dog. They are really intelligent breed of dogs. My dad used to pull up to the stop sign and she would go crazy and the stop sign is really far away. I think she can distinguish the difference in the brakes.
Looks like Samoyed at 3:34.
My Japanese Spitz smells so good even after 1 week

I’m thinking of getting a JS myself, mind if I ask you a few questions about the breed, as an experienced owner? I’d really appreciate the insight.

A few dogs I've had have been so scared of fire works and thunder 😢 it terrifies them... I heard my partner yelling at my JS, for barking at the thunder. I was looking for my formular at the time to calm my JS down. When I heard him screaming at my JS, I dumped my partner immediately and told him to get out!!!!! I will protect my dog and all my animals before any human being.... I do prefer animals than people... All my freinds know this... Especially any of my ex partners 😂
🥰🥰
My Japanese Spitz is not friendly with children, and horrible at watching the door... He is friend of every stranger on the street... My JS not too barky

Thank you for sharing your experience with your Japanese Spitz. It's not uncommon for dogs to have different reactions and preferences when it comes to interactions with children. Each dog has its own personality and comfort level with different individuals, including children. Also, some dogs naturally have a more outgoing and social personality, which can make them more comfortable with meeting new people. On the positive side, it's great to hear that your Japanese Spitz is not too barky. Wishing you and your Japanese Spitz many joyful moments together! 🐾❤️

Ah nice she's pretty old! My main concern is exercise needs. Im looking for a dog that would be okay with 1-2 walks a day and some backyard time. On top of mental enrichment activities like food puzzles and whatnot ofcourse, and the occasional dog park visit or hike / camping trip. But im just wondering if, on days where I'd only be able to get one little walk in with the dog, will he be okay? Or should I expect troubles from his boredom?@@LittleBU96
