Japanese Nabe Hot Pot w/ Rice Dumplings | Akita Dining Experience

Ойын-сауық

This Tokyo restaurant has an old home from Akita in the north rebuilt on the 9th floor of this Ginza building. It's pretty incredible inside and I can see why David Beckham was recommended this place to eat at in 2016! The Kiritanpo nabe hot pot is incredible, rice dumplings and Japanese sake to wash it down. Ah, but you'll also be joined by NAMAHAGE! If you don't know what that is, you will. Be afraid.

Ruth is one of my favorite guests that you work with -- she added a very fun, authentic glow to this. Also very cool that you were able to insert the footage from your earlier livestream of the Namahage festival into this (how does that work in a livestream, anyway?). Great episode, I wanna eat there too!

Personally I was not a fan of her myself but I am sure she is a great person to be around with. The POV from someone else is quite interesting to see in places like these. I feel like TKoSAM would have been better for this video in my imo.

Thanks John! Ruth is a familiar face for sure. This brings back memories when I went to Japan with my dad, and a dear friend, we also ate at a restaurant some fancily prepared soba. Akita folklore goes all the way back. I remember them to be much scarier though, they are so frightening that when they perform I wet my pants as a kid. Its said they kidnap children and take them back to the mountain, all the kids watching the show believed it.

You haven’t seen my Instagram or Twitter today? I’m not using our baby as a prop in the shows even though I know he’ll get more views than me. Haha! Maybe he should have his own channel - maybe when he’s older. He will be on because he’s a part of my life but he also should grow up and learn to be himself without doing social media everyday or feeling like he needs to do it. I’d prefer he turns off the camera and enjoys moments without having to pick up a smart phone. Just our style right now. As he grows, then we’ll decide changes 😁
