I can feel the good vibes of this room through the screen :)
Love this, what an improvement! I cleared out my childhood room a few years ago - in America, we have too much space (basements, attics, coat closets) which means more places for mindless hoarding!! Took forever to clear it out, but felt so great when it was done!!

Not to mention a storage facility on every corner
I always appreciate your honesty and willingness to show us when things get cluttered in your living space. It's a reminder that everyone is human, even a minimalist KZreadr! My favorite technique is limiting the amount of space that something is allowed to take up (like you do with your books). That makes a big difference for me!
I’ve been watching for a while and I just want to say: I hope you feel proud of what you’ve done with this KZread channel. You’ve put in a lot of hard work learning English, editing, coming up with video ideas…etc. Way to go!
I love your room Aki. I noticed that you have several books, one of them by Thich Nhat Hanh, who I am a fan of ❤ Would you ever consider making a video about books you like?
Lovely, peaceful, soothing and simple! Thank you!💗
Good point made about limiting storage space. Space restrictions encourage intentional storage rather than justifying collecting more belongings.
prayed for Matcha and all of Japan because of the Earthquake.. thank you for teaching me more about the beautiful Japanese culture - i love you all so much !
Love your content! It's always a cultural learning experience (because you're a great teacher!) and such a refreshing space.
I like bamboo too, and wicker. So light and natural. Cumbersome furniture and drapes are heavy on the eye and mind.
I have watched this video for 5 times now., I can't stop imagining how it feels to live in Aki's room.Hmmmm, why am I thinking of getting rid of my bed, old working table and cabinet? 😅 I love how the room turns into a simple and calm space.
Its so perfect! Good care and minimum objects make your room look 2 times big.
Thanks for sharing and it gives me some inspiration as well. Glad you are ok after the earthquake hit Japan too. Hope everyone has a chance to heal and move forward as well after the quake.. Take care and be safe.
We are thinking of all of you in Japan as you go through this difficult time Aki🧡💛💚💙Carol from America
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and love for minimalism. Today I cleaned out my childhood bedroom after 7 years of leaving it untouched. I was absolutely shocked by all the stuff I had kept. I ended up donating around 80%, throwing away 10% and keeping the other 10%. For the record I have over 300 books, around 150 DVDs, countless plushies and things I was afraid to throw away because they had been gifted to me. I took your advice of keeping stuff practical and stuff that brought me joy (e.g. a birthday card my parents gave me when I was 12). I feel so free and whilst I do have a long way before I could ever be considered a minimalist, you have taught me so much stuff over the last year I've been following you. As a result, I am able to keep on top of general housework (which was hard for me because of my ADHD and the clutter I owned), my spending habits have got so much better and I was able to take my first vacation this year which I was never able to do because I would always spend my money on clutter. Whilst its not perfect, I can honestly say the quality of my life has vastly improved over the last year from following your advice and watching your content. Thank you so much Aki, I wish you the best 2024 possible!!!

Wow, it sounds like you are doing a great job! I'm moving to a very small space for the first time and trying to decide what I can keep and what will go! It's work but so worth it!! Good luck!
Really loved your older desk - it had lots of character and practicality.
I lived in Japan for some time and got so used to having tatami and minimal furniture that I ordered some for my apartment upon moving back to the US. My room is set up just like yours here, complete with the small non-tatami space for the simple work desk and chair! Love it.
Yes the 5 second rule was great! As a neurospicy person, obstacles in front of my actions will make it more likely I will not do them, so I have been working on making my space “easy” and more readily accessible to live in! ❤

Neurospicy! I love that! ❤️✌️
Wow! Beautiful transformation. U r my inspiration for becoming a minimalist. I still have a lot of stuff and wanting to minimize. It’s not that easy. Little by little I will get there.

You can do it!
Your remodeled room is so beautiful and peaceful. You took such care in selecting each item. I agree with you that one's home is a place of refuge and sactuary. If we can't make it possible in the entire home, we can start with the bedroom! Thank you, inspiring as always!
I have a big heavy desk from 1930's and it's a beautiful antique and matches my room. But I also love IKEA because it is so light and easy.
Your videos are never failed in giving me an inspiration for me to change my life into a healthier minimalist life.👍🏻 I appreciate your work, Thank you very much ✨
Awesome job reorganizing your room. Simple and functional.
Everytime I feel nervous or stressed, I watch your videos and feel instant calm. Your videos helped me so much to take more care about my room and personal senctuary and my own life. Thank you for your videos. Lovely greetings from germany 🙏
I love just about all the changes you've made to your room! I particularly like all the bamboo, it has such a clean and peaceful feel to it. The tatami mats look like they would feel so nice to walk on! The only thing I'd worry about is taking away the curtains - what happens if you need your room to be dark? Or if you need to block the sunlight to keep your room cool? I have the kind of blinds that are a single sheet of vinyl the same size as the window. You can pull a chain to roll the blind up, and it ends up in a tight roll at the very top of the window. Mine are white, the same colour as the wall and window frame, so when they're rolled up, you can hardly notice them at all. But they're very good at blocking the light despite being quite thin, so when they're pulled down, you can make a room pretty dark even during the day! I live in Australia, and the sun can be very fierce in Summer - it can be a challenge to try and keep your house cool, even with an air conditioner. So on hot days, I close all the blinds in the house, and because they're white, they reflect the sunlight and help keep the house a lot cooler. They also hold a buffer of air between the curtain and the window pane which acts as insulation, helping to keep your house from losing warmth in winter. Those kind of blinds might work for your room?
Your English is getting to be so good. I’m impressed 🍵🧹🌈🌈🌈🤗🤗🤗👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I also like bamboo, it’s very versatile and can be used for many things. My goal for 2024 is to declutter my items in my home in marie kondo style. Much love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Why is not the whole world designed like this?? Japanese style and organmakes SO MUCH sense❤
Yes! My room is my personal sanctuary 😊 The world is very loud, bright, busy and stressful, so I really need a space where I can hide away and recharge my batteries. I just wish I could get the mess under control 😣 Motivation is so damn hard when you're chronically depressed. I force myself to keep it clean and tidy - no leaving rubbish or dishes or laundry lying around, bed gets made, the floor gets vacuumed, etc. But I just have way too much crap crammed into it. I know I'd be happier if I got rid of a bunch of it (or at least stored what I don't use regularly in the garage), but I'm just too overwhelmed to really make a dent in it. So I watch organising and decluttering videos on youtube and admire other people's rooms instead, lol.
Well and frugal organised in tradition of his Japanese ancestors.😊
Hi Aki, 'I was a teacher and now I’m a full time minimalist'…😁 happy new year 🎈 and good luck for your new profession! I think you’re still a teacher …how to do minimalism properly. I like natural materials like bamboo, they have warm vibes. Living plants want care and give back good air. Your child room is an adult room, perfect for a minimalist now, though I always preferred to have an apartment of my own. Love, Monika❣
Really nice makeover, your room looks very relaxing and cozy now! :) It is interesting to experiment with the brightness of the light by looking at the Kelvin Scale on the light bulbs, which determines their color/temperature. If its too high like 4000-5000K its very close to daylight and therefore affects sleep. This kind of light is more suitable for places like offices in order to provide energy. But for a bedroom a scale of 2000-3000K is better suited for creating a warmer relaxing atmosphere before bedtime. It was a really good idea that you changed your light :D
I moved to my place a year ago and threw away many of my belongings. Well organized room with minimal stuff relieved me from stressfull life. Everything works smoothly and effectively. Now I can enjoy comfortable life. By the way your obi sash belt is so stylish. I love it as kimono lover.
What a transformation. Well done!
The new room is so refreshing and the decor is cozy. Honestly the bubble wrap is quite genius 😂. It's a perfect idea for when you move into a new house as temporary shade.
