Well done papa and mama. You have to work on more cultural differences than marriages from similar background and culture. But your boy is a happy boy and inquisitive and outgoing. A sign of parent's love for him and each other.

What Jeremy said about foreigners reactions is so true. I live in Sydney now and when I say that I'm Singaporean they get so shocked but when I say I'm Singporean-Malay they immediately associate me to Malaysia, which isn't a bad thing but I've never lived in Malaysia before so I don't connect with that identity.

I've been drinking cold water since young, and my family doesn't prevent me from drinking them unless you're not feeling well then it's back to warm water lol! Glad to see a mix of cultures in a family and the child will be exposed to different backgrounds, in face Singapore is already like the world in a small island, so many cultures you can learn in a small place it's only up to individuals to want to break the barriers and be friends with each other.

Drinking warm water is more of an older folk thing than a Chinese or Indian culture. It's believe that drinking a lot of cold water will harm the body but I personally prefer to drink cold water in Singapore kind of weather and I also usually bath at least 3 to 4 time a day if not working. Working days will probably be 2 to 3 times.

No need to watch your back. People were friendly, and few homeless on the streets. Huge contrast to San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York city.

One other misconception, we usually place our country first when identifying ourselves. Not so much emphasis on race? もう一つの思い違いは、私たちは通常、自分たちの身元を明らかにする際に、自分たちの国を第一に考えるということ。 Shortest: I’m Singaporean 最短:私はシンガポール人です。 Short: Singaporean-Chinese, Singaporean-Malay, Singaporean-Indian, etc ショート:シンガポール系中国人、シンガポール系マレー人、シンガポール系インド人など。
