japan vlog ✈️ tokyo cherry blossoms, ghibli onsen town, hiking to monkeys, + cafe hopping 🎌
Exploring parts of Japan that are usually skipped on people's first trip to Japan!! I really recommend adding something to your itinerary that isn't Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka/Nara if you are able to, and any of the locations I went to in this video would be really great, easy stopovers for a night or two 😇
My parents came to Japan to watch my graduate last week (video on that will be out later!) so of course we also had to do a bit of traveling! This is their second time to Japan so we skipped the normal stuff and tried to have a more low-key trip this time (well, we still ended up walking 15k steps a day lol)
I only vlogged about half of the trip because well...I didn't want to and it was rainy almost every day (SERIOUSLY!!) anyways which makes vlogging muccchhhhh harder 😅 Have you been to any of these places? What did you think? Let me know down below in the comments ❤️

I did basically no research on the monkey park but I knew it was popular with foreign tourists so tbh I expected it to be overrated but honestly it was really nice and not crowded if you get there early and I liked it a lot ❤ Have you ever been somewhere you expected to be overrated but you unexpectedly enjoyed?

Yes, the Las Vegas strip 😂
Sakura, snow monkeys, and castles all in one video. Couldn't ask for more! Glad you got to see your parents for graduation.
aw, the cherry blossoms look so lovely!! 🌸💮thank you for taking us along with you! ☺💕hope you and your parents had a great time together in Japan!
How lovely to see the cherry blossoms in this Spring, and it would be splendid to relax in a hot spring/onsen with Ghibli elements. Not just the majestic castle is Matsumoto, but also I think I remembered seeing this shrine from Nikko on television, but it was back in my elementary school years.
Hope your parents had a great trip, it looked like you all did some really fun things! I officially have to add Nagano to my magical future Japan itinerary - my son would absolutely adore seeing the snow monkeys and I feel like we could still get in the onsen time that we usually would go to Hakone for :) Thank you as always for the beautiful videos and suggestions!
What a fix. Thank you, I love Japan, it’s probably my most favourite vacation. I wish it was nearer. Seeing the blossom made me tear up.
Congratulations on your graduation Allison. Lovely to have your parents over, you look like your mum x
Nice to see a video that is not all sunshine, the vast majority are all sunshine and give the impression that is how it is there. Looked like you had a great time with your folks despite some inclement weather. I will be seeing those monkeys soon enough.

Thanks for this vlog. I arrive in Tokyo from Calgary on Easter Sunday. I shall follow in your footsteps! Hope there are still some cherry blossoms blooming when I get there. I hear the rain hurries their departure.
Omg it must have been soooo nice to have your folks over for this bit of touristing with the cherry blossoms and monkeys and GRADUATION!! Congratulations and thank you for sharing this bit of holidaying with us!! :)
It must be so nice to be able to show your parents around and to get up and about at 09:00 😅

It's always a treat seeing Matsumoto castle, I'm glad the repairs after the earthquake went so well. And the monkey park is seemingly indeed quite popular.
Such intricate details in the buildings out there. Wish I could see it in person
Aww your parents are adorable! Looks like y'all had a good time!! :3
Loved seeing your family. Great trip and sites! Enjoyed this video very much.
Amazing vlog ! Felt like I was there too 🥹 It was so relaxing, I'm excited to see more videos 🫶
Looks like a magical experience 😊 your parents looked like they really enjoyed themselves too!
Your vlogs are always so calming and beautiful💞 Your parent’s happy faces literally brought a tear to my eye, they seem so lovely. I’m glad y’all were able to have this time together, what a precious memory it will be🥹 Congrats on graduating!
I liked the silent movie style of this blog very in keeping with “show don’t tell” 😊 and the gentle piano carrying us through makes it feel nice and relaxing
Love love loveeed this vlog!!! Everything looked so beautiful! I'm really glad you mentioned what time you went to places/how the crowds were, really helps me plan for whenever I go. Definitely gonna add Matsumoto castle and the onsen to my bookmarks! thank you for the wonderful video❤

General rule of thumb is everything popular will be super crowded on weekends and will just be crowded no matter what unless you're there really early 😆

@@AllisoninTokyo yeah, sounds about right! thanks for the advice 😄
This is making me rethink so many things about the trip I have planned in November 😯🐒❄️
The monkeys are so awesome in that park. We went end of winter couple yrs back. For me Nikko was a disappointment, when we went it was just so full of tourists you couldn’t enjoy anything. However nearby smaller towns like Kinugawa Onsen are great, we visited many times.
I had a chuckle of the 7 flights of stairs to see a grave as that’s just how I remember it. I don’t really even remember a view from the top. Nikko is so lovely though that’s it all just a part of the experience. I’ve yet to go to Matsumoto though. I had plans to visit the castle, the Yayoi Kusama museum and also Obuse nearby for a Hokusai museum and a temple (can’t remember the name now) of which Hokusai painted the ceiling. Hope your parents had a lovely visit.

probably because there wasn't one...very disappointing tbh lmao 😆 Just more forest!!!
Best tour guide ever!
Congratulations! This was really nice! Thanks for sharing. I almost considered adding in one of those towns when I come to Japan in June but the itinerary is already too full.
So sweet! Happy to see you and your parents enjoying the beautiful and stunning countryside. The castle and cherry blossoms were magical. The monkeys adorable. So peaceful too.
This was another awesome video Allison, hope you and your family enjoy the time together, lovely they visited, this was a nice Sunday afternoon break, I will get back to watching Takumi in the Nana anime series;"soap opera"😊, Thank you from New York, USA.
So pretty!! I'm sad I'll probably miss the cherry blossoms by the time I visit at the end of the month 😩😩
It was so so amazing! Thanks to your videos about the bullet train, JR Line, and anime, we got around quite well! Just got back to Wa state 12 hrs ago. Though my husband lived there for three years so that helped as well lol Traveled around Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.
Looks like great fun traveling about the country! 🌸🌸🌸🐒🐒🐒
It's wonderful to be with your parents together.
Such a beautiful experience 🥹 the monkeys were so precious! I can’t wait to make a trip to Japan! Your videos help me with where to visit thank you!
Love your videos, the music and the views!
I’m coming to Japan on the 27th and sadly will miss the blossoms:( Your videos have helped me prep for the trip so thank you!

Hii! I thought I had seen you today in Inari Shrine but wasn’t sure! Love the videos 🥰
🌸🌸🌸
Congratulations on your graduation! That’s so fun that your parents got to come celebrate and travel with you! Also, I’m pretty sure I saw you in Haneda airport if you were there last Wednesday. It looked like you were helping your parents, though, so instead of saying hi I just stared at you awkwardly (sorry about that😅). Anyway, thanks for all your videos they’ve been super helpful on my first trip to Japan!

Oooh Nikko looks great! I've been to Nikko Edomura and Kinugawa Onsen (which isn't cute but good enough for my first onsen experience) but not Nikko itself and now I think I'll miss out on something if I don't spend a day in Nikko too. Definitely on my to-do list now. :)
Damn you really drop an itinerary as I just got back from my trip to Japan
Thank you for taking us along. Sakura was so beautiful! I agree about the castle, not worth the climb ( and an older japanese woman jabbed me in the butt with her umbrella on the ladder) guess I wasnt climbing fast enough.

Watching this while my name being Nikko was pretty cool 😂
Great video 😊😊
I would’ve lost my mind over the $.50 boiled 🥚! 😂
Hi allison we loved your stream , it brought many beautiful memories of our trip, we also climbed to the top of Matsumoto castle ( kirrei) , and our legs were literally like jelly, the snow monkeys were sugoi oh and nawate street was kawaii and interesting ❤❤❤❤❤

Just spent the last couple of weeks in Tokyo and it was amazing. Actually went to some of the places you showed in this video. And I have to disagree with you. Sakuras easily look 10x better, in person. Hope you had a great time with your parents, there.
I like your music.
I was coincidentally also visiting the snow monkeys last week and in Nikko two weeks before that. I really liked Nikko. We stayed in the north and went on hikes instead of visiting the more popular attractions in the west, but we also selected it to go on hikes so it was really nice. The snow monkeys were prety underwhelming for us though. Considering how popular they are we expected a big park and spedning the entire day there, but it's actually just this one bath and even if you take your time it's only about 3 hours oen can spend there. We also already saw plenty of monkeys in nature the days before so that didn't help. The town itself can also be pretty nice though, especially in the area shown in the video.

I had something in my mind that it would be like the Kyoto Monkey mountain thing if you've done that, so this blew that out of the water for me 😂 Definitely not something you could spend a whole day at though, would be cool if they had some more stuff!

@@AllisoninTokyo I totally agree. I enjoyed the Kyoto monkeys, as feeding them was fun and we came when it was pretty empty. The walk to the monkey park in Nagano was pretty nice for us too. More of that and a bigger bath area would have been great. But for friends I'll just recommend combining it with Matsumoto.
I went there in 2007 🙉
Thanks for the video! I probably would have lost fingers trying to pet a monkey :)
So beatiful. ^-^
Lovely video, I want to visit every spot! Can you tell me who the music is by that you used in the video?
👍👌😊
How long will the blossoms last in Tokyo, Kyoto... Niigata??

So bathhouse in this context (4:22) has to do with actual bathing? I’m not trying to be cute, my first (tipsy and a little lost) night in Oxford, England, I told a police officer who thought I was lurking in a dark alley that I was looking for a “bathhouse” when I really should’ve said “public toilet,” and then there was some tense explaining to do … basically me explaining I was a foreign idiot. So I’m planning to visit the 2025 Osaka World’s Fair, and I’ve barely begun researching, but it sounds like Japan has bathhouses the way Turkey has bathhouses or like Rome had bathhouses or like Sweden has saunas? …maybe? Because in England a bathhouse is a totally different thing. Or in Russia apparently bathhouses are now a mafia hangout. So I just want to make sure if I say “Let’s go visit a bathhouse!” that I’m not saying “Let’s go sexually proposition a yakuza tough!”
