living in japan 🇯🇵 | exploring tokyo's thrift scene and trendy areas + NEW DESK REVEAL 🥺
it is SUMMER and it is TOO HOT TO DO ANYTHING but i am FORCING MYSELF TO GO OUT ANYWAYS
In today's video I go to Harajuku and visit Meiji Jingu for maybeeee the first time??? Also window shopped in Shimokitazawa and admired the clothing from afar...it's not for me even though I wish it was!! I genuinely can't fit most things lmao
Have you been before? Actually I think this was my first time in Shimokita in about a year? Not sure why I'm too lazy to drag myself over there even though I enjoy the vibes 🙈

Los Angeles heat isn’t the same as Japan heat but I agree it’s been too hot lately 🥵 I keep a fan at my desk with the AC on while wearing a sweater 🤣 The desk looks great! 👌 Personally I don’t enjoy thrifting because of the effort to find something good. I don’t have any patience for that 😂 I’ve yet to play Genshin. I refuse to play it on the iPad 😭
I'm not very thrifty, unless I have a specific project or costume in mind. I do love going to thrift stores for zombie outfits because I rough them up and paint them/ age them.
Can confirm they do thrift overseas especially LA and repurpose to sell in japan
Cool to see Miffy merch in other countries, because Miffy is Dutch (and I'm Dutch). It is called "Nijntje" in Dutch, "ij" is pronounced a little bit similar to the i in "hi", and "tje" like "ch" (chips) "uh".
I like to sew, upcycle and thrift. I'm a simple girl, I see "thrift" I click
Love your vlogs 🥰 Hope you are doing okay in the heat!
the miffy bag is sooo cute
the square-necked top dress is a winner!
Loveeee the socks and the bagggg 😻😻😻
Very wholesome video.
Hey Allison! Just wanted so say that I love your vlogs and always look forward to every upload!!

Omg didn't expect to see ebi! what a surprise LOL
I love love love e thrifting🥰🥰 I go once a week .
Yeah when it comes to thrifting in japan a lot of places are more expensive then in usa. In fuchinobe and machida areas of Tokyo for the university I studied abroad at I was lucky had a few pretty good priced places to thrift. So, I would see if those in those area are still good. I love your videos :)
It is soooo hot! I live in Wisconsin, USA, so I am not used to very extreme heat waves lol 😆 But I can’t even imagine Japan right now 🥵 Thank you for showing us this video!! I love all the super cute Sanrio stuff you saw. I’m not a particular fan of Sanrio, but you make it look so appealing, like now I REALLY WANT some merch! See you soon 😊

Having a heatwave here in Oregon too.
I didn't know Miffy (or as we call her Nijntje in the Benelux!) was such a thing in Japan. That's so interesting to see. I grew up with the tv show as a child!

yes miffy is super popular here!!! not sure why exactly 😂😂
omg so many Cardcaptor Sakura things 😍 One Christmas my parents found Cardcaptor Sakura keychains for me. I still have two intact (Kero and Meiling), and I think I still have Sakura minus the very tip of her scepter, but Syaoran Li literally lost his head. (I had them both on a sports bag I used for karate class.) Those things are so breakable!

yeah they are especially the wanda and stuff 😭😭 usually i just keep mine as decoration because of that 🥲
I’ve never been to Shimokitazawa, in fact I’ve never been to Japan 😂 I hope to go some day and I’ll visit because it looks like I’d enjoy the vibes too ❤️ Also, I live in Los Angeles and it’s TOO hot for me. Once it hits 70 I’m out. I can’t!
@AllisoninTokyo

omg 70 😂😂 its between 90-110 here most days now 😮💨
i think maybe the thrift shops are actually more like vintage shops, which is a little different and that's why they're so much more expensive
@GabrielleMarinArt
Жыл бұрын
Exactly, for real thrifting like goodwill you'll find them at MODE OFF in Ueno and Shimokitazawa - I found a looot of cheap stuff for 300-500 yen there and also DON DON DOWN in Shibuya and Suginami for instance. Just look those shop names and you'll find a bunch of different locations for cheap clothes :)
Pretty in Picnic 🙃🥰
Im planning on going to Japan by next year and I’m so excited it’s happening! But I’m nervous I don’t know any of the language hahaha

don’t worry! tokyo is pretty english friendly 💪
Where do you get your dresses? They are always so pretty!
I love how unique the style of those shops in Shimokitazawa look. (Let's be honest most non chain shops look unique in Japan lol). At this point I am wondering if Genshin will sponsor you one day x)?!

yes i love them too!!! lmao i hope so 😂😂
let me glue that jewel back on lol
I don't know if the Kero-chan keychain in the Kiddy Land store is actually a passholder, but I want that because it is so cute. I also want your Cardcaptor Sakura bag. 😆

Aw what a bummer that thrifting isn't super fruitful in Japan like it is here in the US! Haha Loved this video because I always wondered what it's like :) Thank you for sharing your experience! Have some well deserved Genshin time!

thank you 😮💨 i wish it was easier here to thrift or id do it more 🥲
Could you tell temperature also in Celsius for your non-US peeps? I'm presuming Japan does use Celsius
Hi. Is your new desk from IKEA? Its cute
omg is the kero-chan from the sanrio x ccs gacha? ive seen a few up here in hokkaido, i tried 3 times but i ended up getting 1 sakura and 2 cinnamorolls ;-; after that i gave up bc i didnt want another repeat
Very nice vlog and I love your new desk. It looks really good and so much more space 😍 I have a pretty small desk right now, but a bigger one would fit. So I try to make the most out of it. I’m thinking of getting a new monitor stand bc the one I currently have takes too much precious space. We’ll see. Btw thrifting in Germany isn’t that much fun. It’s mostly stuff that’s in not so good shape anymore and it’s really hard to find something good. I’m not a huge fan and I get the impression that it isn’t as common as it used to be a few years ago anymore.

Is the outside markets always there? or is it an event? @ 13:50
If I ever moved to japan my place would be filled with nothing but Ultraman, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai stuff lol
When your hair is down, you remind me of a Japanese Water Ghost
@allison May I ask a question, first of all it sucks because I'm a beginner and I want to learn Japanese too, I don't know what to do first, it's supposed to be hiragana or kanji, can you write in the comment all the Japanese words that are different, pretending to be hiragana, kanji, meaning and what order is that? I don't know what I know, I think there is a furigana, pls im begging you! I really need it and I haven't started 😭😭😭😢 pls respond if there is anything I'm waiting here 😫😭😭
where is that CLOCK from that’s on your desk? 😍😭😍
