Japan successfully launches H-IIA "moon sniper" in bid to become 5th nation to land on lunar surface

Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries successfully launched its H-IIA rocket carrying the national space agency's moon lander on Thursday, after unfavorable weather led to three postponements in a week last month.
Japan aims to become the fifth country to land a spacecraft on the lunar surface with the launch of a low-cost "moon sniper" that will test precision landing technology designed to further Tokyo’s space goals.
The Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) craft - dubbed "moon sniper" by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) - is set to touch down on the near side of the moon close to Mare Nectaris, a lunar basin that is one of the visible dark spots on the moon.
The launch comes weeks after India became the first country to land on the moon's south pole, sparking an outpouring of national pride and highlighting a new space race that features the private sector.

Given that Japan landed a space probe (Hayabusa ll) on an asteroid about 190 million miles away from Earth in 2019, and then returned to Earth a year later with collected samples, a moon landing shouldn't be much of a problem.

Japan has been launching rocket since mid-1960s. The first Japanese satellite Ohsumi was launch in space on 11 February 1970 and became the fourth country to launch satellite in space after (1) USSR, (2)USA & (3)France. Congratulations Japan for the successful launch and all the best.

Well, many Indians were also encouraging Russians even though Russians were racing to land before India. Indians don't dislike most other nations. Only exceptions would be Pakistan, China and in some cases UK and USA (the latter two not because of some hatred, but because of these two constantly spitting out anti-India propaganda and calling India poor and what not).

Do we know if the payload for both the Hitomi 2 and the moon lander had enough fuel to get into orbit? I watched a live stream, and they suggested that if the payloads on both of these dont have thrusters on board, they will not make orbit. So I just want a follow up

Same applies to Japan by the time they do china usa and russia would get all the good spots. Seems like its for another reason they are landing on the moon ..im surprised usa has not sent a rover on the moon perhaps they already know something and no need for it
