    @@laurametheny1008 true that. This case really was something else. It seems fictional, which is what makes it crazier. The whole convincing a family, that he has hostage, to fall in love with him and to systematically start killing each other in his name is something you would read about the Joker doing in a book/comic. Some fictional villain who can pull off feats of manipulation that don't seem feasible in an IRL context. But this guy ACTUALLY did it. That's horrifying.

    I agree. There are several social reasons that add to the low crime rate. The government takes care of their people for the most part. (Thus, the highest national deficit in the World.) Education is the country's priority. Which leads to making wages that match the economy, so one can sustain themselves. We have national health care. Cellular/Internet service is free. We r either "Middle" class or rich. Homelessness and poor/poverty is nothing, compared to the world due to the 1st two reasons. We have no guns or street drugs available to get. U have to be "someone" to have thoses things. Example... Yakuza, police and military. But, most of all, we RESPECT law enforcement. The fact that human necessities are accommodated and punishment for any crime is so severe, petty and social crimes are not a thing. Crimes normally happen due to a "human need" that is not available to them out of desperation. So, when someone decides to break the law in Japan, its is usually horrific and a "SPECIFIC, SELFISH, PERSONAL reason, to say the least.

She's finally free, and living a normal life. She's finally able to be a real person after everything she was forced to do. Blaming her for the stuff that her captor made her do is incredibly insensitive and ignorant to how the mind of a survivor works. She is the LEAST likely to repeat what she suffered, because she ISN'T a twisted psycho, she is a victim who has to live every day with those horrific memories. I for one am glad that she's still alive and able to live normally. A lot of people who go through the stuff that she did end up taking their own lives.

    @@rosarioby612 I don't blame her, but it would be foolish to not consider her dangerous due to her past actions and trauma. From my own experience, I know that abuse and mental problems can be passed on to future generations and broken individuals are a threat to the general public. I don't say that she's destined to follow his path, but if something pushes her over the edge, she'll probably have it easy to cause a lot of harm! Having said that, women tend to self-harm far more than outward aggressions. Still, such women are a danger, in particular to their own offspring!

  • @rosarioby612

    @rosarioby612

    @@edi9892 And to assume that because she's suffered so much that she's going to 'snap' and hurt people is just plain wrong. She's attempting to live a normal life, which most likely means she's been working through those traumatic memories through therapy and positive reinforcement, which is something no doubt provided to her after aiding the court in taking her abusers down. If her condition went UNTREATED, there is still only a slim possibility that she could become abusive. But to outright assume that she's a danger, and even go so far as to suggest that she would endanger _children,_ is very concerning. Are you suggesting that she'd be better off locked up and treated exactly like the person who hurt her? Do you honestly think that would help her AT ALL? The second you look at a victim and see nothing but a future abuser is the second you strip a person in need of their humanity. That is a VERY dangerous mindset to hold, and no matter what you may have experienced in your lifetime, you cannot pin that kind of mentality onto other people, otherwise it is _you_ who makes it possible for that person to be driven 'over the edge'. You wouldn't lock up a child after they escape an abusive home, would you? That was what this woman was. A CHILD. Literally only 17 when she got out, which means she was 9 when they kidnapped her. If you're seriously suggesting that abuse survivors, especially CHILDREN, would be better off in prison or mental institutes, then you've got some problems that you really should look into, because that's really not a healthy or empathetic way to view cases like these.

    I feel awful for the victims, and mind control does exist to a point. I just can't fathom how people's minds become that weak and vulnerable, especially in numbers. Crazy how often this type of stuff happens.

  • @James-gc5if

    @James-gc5if

    It might actually be easier to go along with it in numbers, because it's in human nature to want to conform with the group, especially when it's family. "If my parents and brother and sister-in-law are all going along with it, it can't be that bad" kind of thing. There's also a phenomenon called diffusion of responsibility, where the more people who are complicit in something, the harder it is to break out because each individual feels less personal control over or responsibility for "the group's" actions or decisions. Similar to the "just following orders" defence used by war criminals. But even knowing all of that, it's still difficult to wrap your head around.

    It’s actually not that hard because manipulators of this magnitude have a way of sniffing out the mentally weak with poor self esteem and not a strong identity. It would never work on someone as bullheaded and stubborn as me, but remember there are many people out there that are damn near begging to be controlled in some way. So when the perpetrator finds these weak people they 1. Instill fear and a sense of authority/superiority over them . 2. Isolate, isolate, isolate the victim! 3. They find your weakness and use it against you, to the point where you start to feel you NEED the perpetrator (they become your strength where you are weak) but if you step out of line they will pull that strength away, and ram that weakness in your face, leaving the victim completely despondent and feeling like they have no other recourse. And 4. In a group of people, the perpetrator will turn other members of the group against the one who is stepping out of line (peer pressure/bullying times 100 basically) so you must submit if you want stay a part of the group again. Cults and some religions use these tactics too. I stopped being surprised a long time ago at just how weak some people’s minds are when it comes to that level of manipulation.

    Japanese people hate sharing/posting news of negative side of japan, they only like to post only the positive side. even some japanese youtuber complain about this part of japan. it's not about respect, they just didn't want to look bad on public. it's their 'sickness' until now, they prefer to deal all problem 'privately' rather than involving police or people outside of their family because they don't want to have 'bad rumour' spreading about them, they think it'll make the family have a bad name. i saw some video about this kind of thing long time ago, even the police there prefer to suggest the victim to solve the problem(small to medium crime which can result into a bigger problem later on) 'privately' if they can, usually the evildoer will just pay some 'apology' money to the victim family so that they won't bring it to the court. the richer to doer the lower the chance for the victim to bring the case to the court, they are that scared and passive of a people they have the mentality where family name/dignity is higher than anything. so, most of the time, the victim of bullying/ blackmailing/ sexual abuse prefer to just shut up rather than report it to the police. like it or not, japanese people really like to judge people based on first impression, it'll be worst if you already have bad reputation. if you have a bad rumour about you, they usually talk behind you(gossiping with their friend, the mothers there really don't have anything to do) and avoiding eye contact with you even though that bad rumour is not right, and outright hating you if you're a gaijin(foreign people/outsiders). Japan can be the most racist of a place to live, of course it can also be the best place to live as long as you won't create any problem. Persona 5 is the best representation of Japanese Culture right now. it seems like a joke, but it's not
