I have been through a lot since childhood and have tried to connect to Sikhi and spirituality but struggled for years. Thankfully after years of committing to psychotherapy, I have come to a place where I can connect to spirituality. I learned recently about something called 'spiritual bypassing' which is trying to connect to spirituality or religion before healing psychologically, whereby there are real barriers in place. Thankfully I am now able to engage with this and it is really a beautiful experience. It is important to know that if anyone else is struggling, find a good therapist that you can connect with and they can help you to heal and connect to your truth.

I've thought more about this since I finished watching this Katha and the part about feminism being humai didn't sit well with me at all. It takes away the truth of many women who have suffered not even just once, but multiple times at the hands of many men. Feminism is a boundary which states, I will not be treated as less for being a woman; I am equal. That is Sikhi; a feminist religion. I want to be clear that it's okay to simply understand this part of the pauri as, guru is destroyer, sustainer, creator, devotion and maternal, feminine energy. I don't think that one mention of parbatee in the whole of GGS ji suggests anything other than, there is nothing to focus on more with respect to gender because it is not a thing in the eyes of Satguru.

Just extending on seva concept, Nishkam seva refers to this where we are suppose to serve others by thinking we are serving God/Jot. That's why in India you might have heard Sevadars refering to others by saying Waheguru (especially in Langar). There are others benefits to seva where we bring humility and patience in ourselves which brings down ego and get rid of thoughts related to us. Also, as per Gurmat Sikh is supposed to say thank you to other for giving chance to serve them (tusi Kirpa kito te sewa da mauka dita). Guru HarRai ji asked Sikhs to open their doors to anybody Hungary and he praised those Sikhs who thanked the people came to their home even at uncomfortable times.

Hello brother . Can I ask a question which may increase my understanding . I get we don't worship something that can be created and destroyed. But then how do we reconcile that with the physical form of the guru . I'm guessing we worship the jot inside guru sahib and not the human form . Is that right ? Please correct any mistakes I made . Wjkk wjkf

VJKK VJKF, great question. Remember that the Guru has only ever had one form. That is Shabadh. The timeless teaching and wisdom is the Guru, not the body, paper or ink. So we revere the wisdom which can save us. That is why we remember the 10 Gurus as one light, because they all carried the same wisdom. So Guru Nanak Dev ji was a living breathing carrier of Shabadh Guru. When he was born, the Guru wasn't born. When his body died, the Guru didn't die. The Guru (wisdom) is immortal. Hope that helps.

VJKK VJKF First of all, thank you so much for your work. It has been really inspiring. My question is about the frequency of the words... I was told by my KY teacher that Gurmukh, Sanscrit, Arab and other languages as well are "living languages", that each word has a specific vibration. So, by listening to JapJi, even tough the listener doesn't know the meaning of the words, they can make sense to him somehow. Since I've got contact with Gurbani I've felt this way, and it's so "tasty" to listen and pronunciate the words even tough I don't know the meaning. We've done Akhand Path a few times, but it was a translated version of GGSJ. The last time we did it I started to get annoyed. I felt like it wasn't having any effect and I couldn't connect to it. So, my question is: Does reading GGSJ in other languages or just doing simran in another language has the same power as it has by doing it on the original language? Thank you! _/\_

21:30 I don't think that would be true if it wasn't for religion though. In 500 years, if there was was a Kanye West day I'm sure everyone would remember him. :/ but I get your point. being a human of humility is an honorable characteristic.

What does the guru say about devoting one’s life to helping the poor and being a good person? Why is that not enough to earn enlightenment ? If your intentions are good and he knows it why is that enough ? What if a person who does nothing to anyone or for anyone but does mantra and sings praises why does he obtain enlightenment?

Jaideep M From my personal understanding, God Himself is the Satguru (Eternal Teacher) coz only He is eternal. It is Him Who resides in all simultaneously. And it is solely by His Will in Whom He chooses to shine forth His Jot effulgently. So His Jot is hidden in all, while in some He shines effulgently. The 10 Gurus were commissioned by Him - the Guru Akaal Purakh - to refresh the timeless Gurmat path (Panth), this time, organizationally, as Sikhism/Khalsaism. God, the Source of all arts & knowledge, is Himself the Sole True Eternal Teacher, Revealer & Enlightener (Guru) of His Divine way. Everyone else were created and inspired by Him anyway. First, God was hidden. Then He revealed Himself by ordaining Creation with a single Word. This very act revealed His Godliness, Guruship & Grace to all creation. This act revealed His Sargun Saroop. I could still be mistaken. We learn together.

Jaideep M Yes, when there is only Him, then He is both. Being panentheistic, He's like the 6th element permeating our 5-elements universe. Hence He is intimately with all yet in His godliness He's unaffected by anything. When He was first all by Himself, then He didn't feel the need to express any of His potential or qualities. He then dwelled only in His Nirgun form. Then, when He willed to create, we see manifest His various qualities / attributes / potential expressed everywhere (as creation) in their finite forms, hinting at Him. To see beyond the veil of 'Maya' in creation is to see His ordained 'Word' (Shabad) vibrating everywhere as the perceived Matrix. This Word is our Guide/Guru, coz resonating with it, we begin to resonate with Him Who is in all things. You welcome brother.

English word religion equivalent to mazhab, Abrahamic belief in God. Different from Indian dharma skih & Hindu & Buddhist experiencial truth that Humans are God , like atheist who do not believe in a God above . Please don't say all religions are equal. Decolonised mind , Indian truth different from western Islamic God based belief religion.
