Crazy how things just slowly changed and living through all these times we really don’t notice. Until we see a video like this. It’s like “dang, when did all of this change.” Haha.

Welcome to my time capsule!
The 2000s in the US can be subdivided into three phases. It is still the 90s up to 9/11. That is the first real switch. The Y2K bug scare was over on January 1. The years 2000 and 2001 up to 9/11 are still 90s spillover. Then, the definitive part of the 2000s is from 9/11 through 2007. The War on Terror, and Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom became facts of American life, but there was still a bubble economy, and the legendary suburban American middle class was still intact. The financial crisis of the late 2000s with mass job losses and shrinkage of the middle class served as another phase shift. During that same time, smartphones and mobile computing started to transition from niche market to mainstream despite already having been available. 2009 seems less different from 2019 than it does from 2000 or 2001 in some ways....

waverider227 They used 9/11 to perpetuate a middle eastern war and to gain advantage in the oil industry. Not only that, 9/11 gave the US a reason to create the NSA and take a bunch of measures to surveil us tenfold. Ever since 9/11 we haven’t been more under control through fear and surveillance. These smartphones that everyone has are tools to watch and track everyone’s data, nobody knows it. What seems like a normal life today is masqueraded by a deep ominous force that is trying to convert America and the rest of the world into a one world authoritarian dictatorship, like China. China is infiltrated in our system, they spy on us just as heavily as they spy on their own people.
@waverider227
4 жыл бұрын
@@CamConscious exactly right though the part about the NSA created. Well the NSA was already spying I remember watching the movie Enemy of the State a year before 2001 but I agree 9-11gave them even more power through the passage of the Patriot Act and the NDAA or indefinite detention act to establish this precedent and yes China indeed does monitor and control us via various means one of the biggest is undoubtably through software Apps on our Smartphones !

Thank you so much for showing us the only thing I wanted to see in these olden days cuz I’m born in 2004 and I have thousands of regrets to be born on this damn year, but I appreciate you. Thanks a lot 🙏😊❤️

@@user-gp3tb8ho2b It's not cool to miss the new millennium first of all. And second, I wanted to view on the top of the WTC before its collapse. I still have a lot of good reasons I could not reveal
I remember my aunt coming back from the dealership in a brand new top of the line 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer and man I felt like a king when I sat in it while brand new especially with the leather seats 🥲🥲 good ol days luckily she still has it

At 10:42 that looks exactly like the little Metro I used to have! Damn, seeing this takes me back a bit
I was 12 years old in 2000, running around the neighborhood with my brothers and friends, stayed out all night long during the summer breaks from school, it was so much fun, no cell phones, just rode our bikes everywhere played baseball in the streets, got in trouble haha used our imaginations and just had some damn good times, we were never indoors, only time I used the internet was when i went to someone's house that had it on the computer, I truly miss it. I am now 33 and man did I appreciate the times I grew up when I look back on it, pretty much was the last generation that lived in an old school kind of world.

Driving looks much easier back then, and this video took place in LA. Portland traffic keeps getting worse every year. I remembered during my childhood that there’s less traffic on the road in the early 2000s.
The traffic looks much easier to drive in back then, and that’s Los Angeles. I live in Portland BTW. Also, I think the cars look better. Most of them are sedans. The Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Cirrus are the coolest looking cars I’ve ever seen. Most people drive overrated Subaru SUVs nowadays.
You have the best youtube time capsule ever literally 😅
gilbert, i love your videos!!!!
2000 was like the Xtreme 90s
This was taken on my first birthday! ☺️ and did you say Cynthia had her baby that day or did I hear wrong?
I was only 3 years old, turning 4 that year... Man I wish we could go back and start over the 90s at the age I am now.. Wish we had time machines..

Videos ARE A VISUAL VIRTUAL/ TIME MACHINE
Before it turned the year 2000, me a some friends bought into the idea that everything would turn futuristic. It did...but over time lol. My mom and I also thought the power would go out so my mom stocked up on water and canned goods. Inwas born in 1988. Miss my childhood so much.
Feels like the 90's

Me too
Back when life didnt had any thing 2020 related. I only knew the bright, happy wonderous life in the 90s. It felt so different, the world felt like a relaxed environment, it felt like there was no toxicness, the future ahead of me felt so bright and simple
Its crazy seeing a 20 year old Civic and knowing that back then that was a brand new car.!
Lots of 80s and 90s cars on the road!

Wait why didn't they all buy a new car on jan 2 2000?
The 2000's for me was like limbo. We was in the future but stuck in the past up until 2010.

The year I was born! How cool I have small memories of the years 2004-2006
Do you have a video of New Years Eve 2001 that goes into New Years Day of 2002?
Now it's the 242nd month of the 2000s!
Maaan one thing for me was seeing that car lineup in the parking lot. Idk what it is but seeing older rides like that "New" Cherokee, even the older one at the end and the other rides. It's so different.
Sometimes I still think it is the year 2000. I was 7 then and remember the count down into the new year as well. Crazy!
I want to live this life broo
