Even without power, Jang Uk in the early episodes was a very smart, sly, and mischievous person, and Mu Deok was a very cold and sensitive person. This is also the most favorite spot for me. It's sad that both of these personalities don't appear in season 2 anymore huhu

Season 2 was like a whole new drama for me, a romantic drama, storyline and main leads were nothing like S1, jang uk was different, naksu was someone else all together, can't even say it's the same AOS

@@nayiri112 Season 2 was great but just a slight different direction. It's less funny because it was about loss so everything got serious in season 2. And the chemistry in season was way more intense and suspenseful.

They were adorable together. And the actress' natural baby-face was an excellent contrast to an assassin's deadly nature. Plus Mu-deok as a character shouldn't have been killed because she represented the best of Bu-yeon and Naksu and not either person entirely. I can't watch season 2 without her. The happy ending before the last episode of season 1 is where it should've concluded.

Indeed. I rewatched the first season and i stopped where they were happy and announced they are gonna get married. People say that the second season Naksu has the same personality but i don't think so. Mu deok was brave and powerful and have different and great area.

I'm a huge fan of the first season. I miss this cat and dog relationship between Mudeok and Jang Uk. The main reason why I started season 1 is So Min. The reason why I'm still watching even without her is because I liked the story. So, why is it so hard to finish every episode now?

Season 1 would always be superior for me, its a fantasy thriller with perfect balance of romance and comedy. Mu deok and Jang Uk's chemistry was also top tier and Somin is a phenomenal actress.s2 seems like a totally different show Hong sisters literally wrecked their own drama for god knows what by changing the actress

I loved Jung Uk and MuDeok - in a way I was falling in love with them as they fell in love with each other. When I found out what happens to MuDeok , and that Somin is replaced in season 2 , I literally felt depressed and teary. It’s crazy that a TV show can affect one’s emotions so much. It has been weeks now since I stopped watching at episode 12 , unable to go on and witness what happens. But I still think about it, enough to make comments and feel betrayed by random you tube videos of Jang Uk and season 2 actress and their supposed ‘ chemistry’

I miss them already 😭 also mudeok and the crown prince moments

This season 1 is a masterpiece, my favorite af all kdramas (even though it has sad ending) i miss them, especially mu-deok😭

I just can't bring myself to like the pairing of Lee Jae wook and Go yoon jung in AOS part 2, I can't deny the fact that GYJ is really beautiful but Jung so min has my heart :') she's one of the reasons why I enjoyed watching AOS part 1, watching the part 2 without her saddens me but I'll keep watching it for the plot and characters as well

Idk why but mu deok,s character always impressed me the way she expressed her feelings with her eyes and their funny fights....for me S2 was more about romance which is not my taste but S1 was more about intense scenes

yeah season 2 was the pure hearted and cute version of Naksu the whole point of everyone loving Naksu at the START was because she was cold blooded,strong, fierce and confidence which isn’t really innocent, innocent is like pure hearted and naksu wasn’t pure hearted at season 1 people with same personality tend to act very different if they’re pure hearted Naksu in season 2 was still sly and easily could change her expressions

They chemistry is funny together and i love how she act look so natural. I feel sad when i watch season 2 and she not acting in season 2 but still i will watch till ending.

Came here because I was tired of seeing everyone gush over the relationship between Jang Uk and amnesiac Naksu. It's not the same. I'll be the first to admit that I had no problem with the idea of having Naksu return to her real body - it makes sense given that the only alternative is to kill Jin Bu-yeon, and I thought that as long as Go Yoon Jung could capture the spirit of Naksu and recreate the wonderful chemistry with Lee Jae-wook it would be fine. But that wasn't accounting for amnesia. Thanks to the Hong sisters' cop-out, GYJ has had very little chance so far to become the Naksu that we know and love, and the whole story has just turned into the 'letting go of the past and moving on' kind of thing that I hate. Amnesiac Naksu is NOT Naksu. She feels like a totally different person and him falling for her without knowing who she is feels like betrayal. Of course people can say it's romantic that he falls in love with all sides of her, but it was the fierce, better-to-die-than-do-nothing, fighting-against-her-feelings Naksu that I liked - not this comparatively bland 'Bu-yeon'. I did not wait three months to see Uk fall in love with a totally different woman. Thank heaven for Go Won, Yul, Dang-gu, Park Jin and Maidservant Kim, who are all just as wonderful as they were in the first season. And thank heaven that Naksu has finally regained her memory and Uk seems close to figuring it out too. The last two episodes should be everything I've been waiting for - I just wish it hadn't taken nearly all of part 2 to get here. Okay, rant over. 😅

I really really wish Naksu would already leave Jin Bu Yeon's body so Jin Bu Yeon ( Mudeok) can go back and for Jang Uk to realize that he's actually inlove with Mudeok ( Jin Bu Yeon )

i started watching alchemy of souls cause of yoonjung and wanted naksu in s1 till i fell in love with somin and s2 without mudeok def felt empty to me, yoonjung acting skills are amazing but somin character as mudeok was so impressive! it was my first time watching her

Season 1 and 2 really have different feels. S1 has character arcs for the 2 protagonist. For S2 we have angst and seem to be waiting for something to happen. Jang Uk pines while Naksu/Buyeon is stuck in the memory game. There is no urgency to develop or a deadline. Jang Uk wants to die but isn't hurrying it up nor helping Naksu get her memories faster so he can get rid of the ice stone already. Naksu isn't in danger for anything except being used by others or has any drive to do anything plot wise. Such a disappointment in writing. I like this evolution of Naksu as a character but the current season doesn't give GJY any material to work with. Naksu as Buyeon could have an arc intensely pursuing Uk because she gets flashes of memories or something. Uk could be LOOKING for Naksu or scheming to thwart/bring down Jin Mu. Or have his life threatened bec the ice stone is too much. Just anything!

Well said. Nothing is happening and they are repeating the plotline between Buyeong and the three guys, which is quite stale when you compare the same Mudok rapport with them in S1. S2 is more like a mix of JungUk fighting the zombies and an idol love story.

Season 2 draggggged the amnesia plot way too much, i was getting bored just watching it. And the other characters weren't even given a decent storyline in S2, aside from So-i who had the most character development (as a side character). Most of all they favored the romance more than the fantasy/adventure parts, which was a waste given the rich world building and all the plot points from S1, where it left off,, I thought they'd start S2 guns blazing and kick start Naksu's revenge i- ☠️
