What she says about male and female friendships is truly profound. Face to face vs. Side By Side. I try to be the exception to the rule, I love my male friends. I'm going through a break-up. I am extremely vulnerable with them. I have asked them for emotional support. They've all been there for me. Unconditionally. Hopefully we are starting to evolve out of this stereotype.

Jane is superior. Her life of generosity, activism and artistry is unparalleled. She has repeatedly apologized for that Vietnam event but continues to endure that scorn...I believe that she was used by as a pawn by the Vietnamese, as she has said. I have had nothing but the worst of women in my life starting with my mother and continuing on from there. We need to not reduce to gender and or type but be specific because since the divorce epidemic and single parent families the evolution of the roles has become more than a gender whilst inequality still favours gender in the law. 5:55 " Don't let coaches and fathers and teachers shut that down." My push back to this statement is certain situations require men to be objective and compartmentalize their emotions. However, if the father figure is being prevented from teaching that to the son then the son will grow into a man who approaches every situation in their feelings.

The way she digs into men, berating them, is akin to the extremist position she had towards women. Shifting so jarringly to the other side of a perspective on gender is so ghastly myopic and exerts a shallow ability to contemplate the complexity of human behavior. Men are those ways she described for two reasons-- because of the behavioral constructs humans embedded into societal belief and because of how mothers and grandmothers have historically coddled their sons.
