Jamila Massey - 'From Simla to Wales' (Part 2)
Ойын-сауық
Part two of the fascinating journey of Asian Actress Jamila Massey from her birthplace in Simla, Northern India to her current home in Powys. A truly wonderful autobiographical piece by the woman who is probably the longest continually working Asian actress in Britain.

Much respects to you Madam Jamila. You and your crew at "Mind you language" still make me laugh every night. Great lady.
Mr. Brown would be pleased if he were to hear this.

@@goollamkadermamadally6985 i just cant understand with those people who tend to be offended by the series. It's just a comedy, and it happens everyday.👍
My face lit up at 1:26 , when she mentioned 'Mind your language'
Love hearing this lady speak wonderful voice and so much wisdom
2023, I do watch Mind Your Language daily; I never get enough of it. Maadam Jamila You are great. I hope you are still knitting
Love Mind Your Language comedy show Still looking at it in 2019 Love the actors, love Mr. Brown and the comic materials Very creative
If only they realised the only people who felt MYL was politically incorrect were white Anglos and not the people represented by the class students! It was great to have people on screen who represented POC at the time.
Going to get MYL on DVD set! I can watch it over and over! Jamila is my fav character in the series (:
Mind Your Language politically incorrect? oh blimey ..i love that sit com & im still watching till this day.

Old is gold. RIP Mr Brown ❤️
Between 0:38 to 0:41 you can see young Jamila with an old lady named Zohra Sehgal. Zohra was a great Indian actor and choreographer who worked for 72 years between 1935-2007 and she died in 2014 aged 102. Fun fact is, Zohra player Ranjeet's mother in Mind your language and she was seen in 1 episode where Ranjeet went to meet his mother on her birthday and she came to Mr brown's class to see Ranjeet. Episode name is 'Many Happy returns'. She was seen in the final scene of the episode.
Excellent, excellent !!! what she said is absolutely correct... my regards to her...
Masterjii will so proud of you jamila... Godddefeningggg

Mercedes cav allero Jamila* (the 'j' is pronounced).
coming from a multilingual, multiracial country I can say this programme was well researched witha mixture of pure comedic nonsense in it. the way the different groups pronounced their words were quite correct. i esp ecially love the way su li tries her Rs and Ls and DS' Yes thats esp funny because its correct.
Awesome lady.......
Blesss uuuuuu Jamila.I watch mind ur lamguage to this day.
To me, "Little Britain" is much more politically incorrect than "Mind Your Language". LOL. Don't get me wrong, they are both great comedies.

Politically incorrect? Welp. Guess that what happens when cry babies and kids who can’t take jokes watch the shows. I miss the times where you could joke stereotypically and wouldn’t get cancelled. I love Mind your language and watch it till this day. RIP Barry Evans and all the stars that have passed away. Thank you for leaving behind a masterpiece. Entertained my elders and now I am watching it. More than many decades later. It’s crazy.
Congratulations all of you..

In a way she did as she clearly showed her disbelief that it was cancelled for not being politically correct. What is being politically correct? I had to spend a few days in Harrow which has a high Indian population. I was politely surprised how their command of the English language was more refined than my own having been born in London in the 1950’s. Friendly helpful people who went out of their way to talk/help. Very Anglicised. What is being politically correct? The ability to be concerned with things that you really don’t need to be at the extremities. As Jamila said 30 years on MYL was still being broadcast. Fawlty Towers bought by the Spanish and the German TV broadcasters. Latter not overly keen on the German episode and in Spain Mario and not Manuel.

@@kevinshanahan6064 it's sad, too much political correctness is actually destroying our humour, art, and communication between people from different cultures.
