Jamie Foy's SECRET Bushing Hack!

Jamie Foy's Secret Bushing hack is to only skate clear bushings. Jamie Foy skates thunder raw trucks with just stock bushings but on the nine club he told chris roberts he'll only skate the clear bushings and that the blue clear bushing from thunder are his favorite. Jamie Foy says that solid color bushing get too hard because of the chemicals in the dye. I copied Jamie Foy's board setup down to his clear blue bushings so in this video I talk about skating on Jamie Foy's Clear blue thunder bushings and compare jamie foy's bushings to bones mediums bushings that I used to ride.

    Good skating and good vid about bushings. I'm around 200lbs and i had to swap the bottom bushings on my Indy's cuz they were like you describe with the "falling off" effect. I replaced them with Venom 90a red barrel bushings and it is such an improvement.

  • @RobyMontes22

    @RobyMontes22

    Good choice with venom. Wine red venoms should be a good duro for a technical setup. I messed up my ankle months ago and haven't been able to do tech so I got into looser cruising/surf skating. I run venom SHR seafoam barrels and red cones on most of my decks. I'm about to buy Riptide bushings. They have a "Krank" formula which should be similar to venoms SHR formula. Riptide sells you bushings to spec depending on your truck, and they also sell high quality hand poured pivot cups which I'll be trying out.

    neat tip! This is also very true with downhill skateboard products... Wheels with the same urethane formula but with different color dyes, slide differently, grip differently, break out and hook up differently. So, same same with bushings

    Clear green Venture bushings from the 90s were one of the reasons I skated Venture Featherlite trucks. I just got the Thunder clear blue 94 da and put them on my indy titaniums and wha-la. I tried 5 sets of bushings. I love the ride. I had to use 2 indy top washers per truck, since Thunder bushings slim down at the bottom of the bottom bushing.

    Thunder 147 titanium lights with white thunder bushings in front and a harder black bushings in the rear. This allows a tighter rear truck but the same ride height. This is completely logical. I got really used to a pair of Mercury trucks years ago and rode them until the hanger ate through the baseplate. Obviously they no longer existed when I needed a new pair...& getting used to a new truck was a pain.

    I just swapped from grind kings to venture lows. Big difference. The Gk is super turny but the solid insert in the bushing prevents the wheel bites The ventures are way less turny and low which I prefer. Clear red bushings on those !

    I want to pose this question to you. It might not make sense but here goes. Do you feel that learning so many different pros techniques or tips on tricks will affect your 'style' development, i.e. do you think it would lead to fake Steaze or just looking kind of robotic? Hopefully that makes sense was just a thought I had and wanted to know your take on it.

    Not unless I actually try and copy their steeze but technique is something you can copy style not so much. You can tell when someone is trying to look a certain way it looks super budget in a very artificial way. I like to think I look budget in a unique way lol

    LOL wow im actually surprised he said he doesnt like the white bushings... the white thunder bushings are the absolute best in my opinion, but thats why we all have different things we like and skate (i just wish thunder would actually continue to make the solid white bushings though, they do but you cant find them anywhere for sale unless on specific pro model trucks)

    note, i do understand if he likes the harder bushings so he can keep the kingpin nut out so he can pinch crooks and shit easier.. that would actually make alot of sense why i lost the ability to crook ledges, but i personally am a smith person, so the white bushings, with 2 kingpin threads showing give me that stability on the smiths from dipping too far, but just dipped enough where it looks insane

    I'm pretty sure that's all in Jamie's head cause I have been skating for 20 years and can't tell a difference between clear and solid bushings. Dye can't change derometer unless there putting so much that it would be apparent. The hardness isn't going to be changed by dye or the Companies would make the adjustments needed to fix that
