@Dave Stephenson Bullshit...For one thing you had to win your league, no 4 entries from a country etc. So in the knockout phases it was a straight knockout, you couldn't lose a match and go on to win it. Best team they had to beat was Hamburg?? So how you explain them beating Real Madrid in the 81 final and Roma in the 84 final in Roma's own stadium? fight me like a man Liverpool has more Universities than any other city in the U.K. outside of London and also has the most Grade II listed buildings outside of London. Home to the biggest Cathedral in the U.K. and fourth largest in Europe, the docks, the Albert Dock, the Three Graces, the Cavern Club, Mathew Street, Museums coming out of your arse, art galleries...Liverpool by far is the better place to visit for tourists 😁

Gaz Universities are hardly tourist attractions though anyway really are they? We have the liver buildings, St. George’s hall, the Albert Dock, 2 cathedrals, some GREAT museums.. to name a few 🤷‍♀️ Liverpool is a MUCH more historic city to Manchester and that’s fact. Not that we have to compare them anyway.. they’re 2 great cities. It was just a bit of banter haha!

As far as best managers go it's Bill Shankly first. He achieved something that was truly amazing, took Liverpool from the second division and made them into champions of England and left the club dominating for years to come. He made Bob Paisley the manager he was and created the Boot Room, Liverpool wouldn't be where they are now without him. He's then followed by Fergie, Matt and Bob.

They did dominate. They made at least the semi finals almost every year from 99-09. So 10 years on being the top 4 in Europe, whilst winning it twice. And you could also include 10-12, where United made it to the semis and the finals twice.

What many people forget is that Sir Matt had a very young team that would have most likely dominated Europe but sadly that wasn't to be, starting from scratch 10 years later he lifted the European Cup, the first English team to do so, Sir Matt paved the way for English clubs into Europe and that was even done against the Football League's wishes at the time.

The question about Uniteds poor record in Europe is a good one considering how long they were dominant in England to only win 2 champions league's in that time is a big underachievement

Originally from St Helens, so see the good/crap things of both. My favourite stadium is Old Trafford... especially on Grand Final night! Loved nights out in Liverpool & not Manchester, but that's probably because I went to Uni in Liverpool. Both sets of people are arrogantly proud of their city & so they should be because it's their own... btw... Ryan Giggs isn't a kid from Manchester... he's from Salford. Funny debate though & Kelly was clearly loving it!

On the music front we've had great bands like cast lighting seeds etc but Manchester had the stone roses the Smiths and oasis just think they got alot more recognition

Im from Manny and the Northern Quarter is the spot for me but liverpool is on another level for a night out....

I have to completely agree with Gary's take on the Manchester music scene in the late 80s/early 90s as a collective. Yeah, the Pool had the Beatles but never is a specific 'Liverpool Scene' ever sprouted up. So defo Manchester on that one.

@@LUFC123 Fair comment, however it's only world famous for one reason and it's not because it's an amazing club renowned for it's atmosphere, dancing or music. It's renowned because of one thing.....The Beatles! So it's known by association, unlike The Hacienda which is known on it's own merits as a club!!
