Muchas gracias por este posteo. Tenney es una gigante de la música, aunque claramente no reconocido como merece.

After reading all these comments I can only say that form and content are not the same thing. Mr Natchez is apparently stuck in the lineal, alphabetical world of content. Tenny was interested in form and how it interacted with content. Apparently he was successful.

Of course form and content are the same thing - how can you ever view them seperately?. Form is that which grows out of the process, content is that what the form comprises. You cannot simply refill the form with another content, and you cannot change the form but keep the content's identity. With the classical forms it is of course different.

Very few things more depressing than reading positive comments about this noise, that is much closer to what you might hear in a machine shop than to a normal orchestra piece, whether by Bach or Stravinsky.

"normal"? I have no idea what that should mean, but definitely nothing I would be interested in.

yes I do now absolutely what I am missing in your comment: the willingness to accept anything that is beyond your idea of "normal". Stravinsky's rite of spring was not "normal" by the time it was composed. Guys like you did not appreciate it.

  • @jaspernatchez

No, sorry, you don't have any idea what you're missing - how could you? You clearly don't "speak" music. Comparing this noise to Stravinsky is nothing short of hilarious. And in the future, save yourself embarrassment by not blabbing about stuff you have no knowledge of. From the concert premiere of The Rite, Monteux conducting, 1914: "The crowd that invaded the Casino de Paris stopped all traffic in the Rue de Clichy and upset strollers in the Place de la Trinité. After the last chord there was delirium. The mass of spectators, in a fervor of adoration, screamed the name of the author, and the entire audience began to look for him. A never-to-be-forgotten exaltation reigned in the hall, and the applause went on until everyone was dizzy. The reparation is complete, Paris is rehabilitated. For Igor Stravinsky, the homage of unlimited praise."
