I'm Australian, (working class) and as a child my older brother and I would make honestly quite tasty 'spamburgers' when we were allowed control of the kitchen. Bread slices, nicely fried Spam slices, lettuce, cheese, tinned beetroot.. trust me they were nice. I think the mention of class is important, as most working class families actually didn't have time to head down to the friendly butcher for the nicest cut of meat, they had to make do with what was in the pantry from that week's shopping run.

Lovely. Here in the predominantly pork-free supermarkets (Malaysia is mostly Muslim) where Spam is hard to come by, we make do with a variation of Chinese or Vietnamese imported canned luncheon meat with local brands of baked beans. There are also some small Korean provision stores which bring in something similar to SPAM and that could be an option as well. Perhaps he’s trolling us. He’s too wise an old fox to make such a flippant remark.

@@caw25sha exactly, anyone who insists on working a quote from Battle of Britain into every episode is very aware of British pop culture

A nice classic dish in hawaii when you want to eat a warm meal at home rather quickly. Though I think we kept it on a bed of rice rather than toast. Thx for using spam again Dr.Bim Looks very delicious 🥰🥰🥰
Ow my lord, I love this And must try this!
The editing on this one is absolutely top notch.
This looks genuinely nice. I tend to fry my Spam then smear the beans on top, but I like the idea. I'm going to try it.
This show has REALLY improved my cooking skills. Thank you, James! 💪😬

You only SAY it’s golden brown toast.
Aww, Dad and daughter spending time together
Grew up with spam and beans in the 1950s and still love them. Spam goes well in a curry too.
So by Christmas we will be able to buy a Spam and Beans Cookery Book with all these recipes?
calm on the editing bois

@4:45 James May Sumimassen - This is a meme and it will blow up. I enjoyed the Japan tour thoroughly. Looking forward to more!
Hey I just did a revisit of your dish. I actually put veggie sausages instead of SPAM and a mix of worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and miso paste instead of the brown sauce. It was delicious. Brit-veg-japanese fusion beans.
