We also lost a starter who learned from Carson Wentz, named Easton Stick, who is now with the LA Chargers. Wentz also learned from Brock Jensen, who holds the most wins in FCS history. (Jensen, who also helped beat former Big 12 champs/possible BCS Title team, K-State in 2013.) Our former Coach Chris Klieman went to K-State, which is funny since The Bison have beaten them before. Coach Snyder had not lost a home opener since 1980, but The Bison ruined that party for them.

@@SteveEdward_ Stick has the most wins in FCS history. He overtook Jensen with his last game. At this rate though, Lance is going to break Stick's record (barring injury, etc). He's almost a third of the way there, and he still has three seasons left to play.

Yeah, they may do ok in FBS, maybe even become the new Boise State, but they will never get the chance to win another national championship again. The FBS is rigged against G5 conferences which NDSU would have to join, only P5 conferences are allowed to get the big prize, been that way ever since BYU snuck in that national championship in 84. NDSU would get chances at lots of bowls that no one cares to watch and maybe a bone every once in a while, so yeah be careful of what you want.

The FCS has an actual, 24 team, 5 round playoff, not the dog and pony show the FBS has. The first round is essentially a play-in for lower seeded teams to get the field down to 16. NDSU and JMU each had to win 3 playoff games to get to the championship.

Here come the "NDSU should move up to FBS" comments. Realistically, the move up would be expensive. They have to renovate the FargoDome to add more seating. Depending on what conference they would go to the entire athletic program would have to move there as well which would mean a larger spending budget for travel and what not. But why should they move up? Their biggest sellers to recruits is come to NDSU and not only compete for championships, but win championships. They don't get to say that if they move up to FBS and the level of talent that they do get is very respectable for an FCS program. I would love to see them compete at FBS and even though there would be some growing pains for 5-10 years, I think they would be able to hold their own against some teams.

  • @PortgasDASCE

NDSU could go up talent wise, but their other athletics just wouldn’t keep up (look at the basketball game vs Duke) not to mention the travel cost, cost of a new stadium, and not to mention giving out more scholarships. Currently my friend goes there (I graduated high-school I’m North Dakota) and the tuition with room and board is roughly 17,000 for in state tuition, which is what makes it such a good school for many North Dakotan kids to attend. If they went up they would have to raise tuition costs, and not nearly as many kids would attend the following year and would rather go to UND another big North Dakota school known for reasonable tuition 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m all for going up, but the school would suffer as a whole if they did

North Dakota State is like the Patriots or Alabama. They’ll eventually fall and stop going, or at least loose in the championship. Not this year though, which sucks as James Madison almost pulled off the upset. Ah well, I’m not a fan of either team, but I do live in Frisco (where this game is held every year) and it’s fun to just go and see the teams playing in the championship.
