I'm always shocked to hear James still has fans. I thought he would have taken the hint and gone away by now but I guess still having fans depite everything he has done gives him the impression he hasn't done anything wrong. This is why parents should be aware of what their kids are doing and who they are following online. If I knew my kid was a 'fan' of a known child groomer, I'd revoke their internet access and explain to them why its not okay to support people like james charles.

Honestly, to me that really just screams that he isn’t sorry, or as disappointed in himself as he’s expressed. Imagine being caught committing a crime like that and ADMITTING IT, then continuing to have an internet career as if nothing happened. It’s sick that people still support him. The grooming stuff happened SEVERAL times and repeated his “mistake” even after apologizing. He shouldn’t be on the internet, he doesn’t deserve the support or benefits and is a dangerous person.

Personally, I don’t think that people outside of his fan base will buy it. If it goes well great, but people need to know that by buying his products, he will never pay for what he did last year and will in a sense be “forgiven”

whoever is doing his marketing is a genius. not only is he making it seem like he's actually taking his fan's opinions, but he's recruiting younger, newer makeup influencers who are hungry enough for the exposure he can give to promote his brand. then the smaller influencer's fans will buy it to support them, which obviously he profits from. he'll probably do a smaller launch which will sell out, giving him the illusion of being a hit product, allowing him to make rereleases and new products. being linked to someone with such a huge following is absolutely enough for people to put aside his grooming and other scandals.

I appreaciate that you focused on the marketing behind it. I have studied Business Administration and Marketing and I find really interesting how new brands (that are about to launch) are introduced to their audience through social media nowadays. I can assure you that James is using the exact marketing trick you mentioned. As a resault his audience is already interested in (or in some cases impatient) trying out a product they haven't even see yet. Basically James is "advertising" his products without being out yet! Another trick is the contest which in order to participate, you have to use the hashtag. This can lead to free marketing bc we all know the power a trending hashtag holds. All these are actually neuromarketing techniques which are used in order to discover consumers' subconscious preferences. The real question though is who is going to support his brand after all that mess?

From the way he's structuring this launch by asking people of all skill levels to participate, and personally flying out 10 people, and listening to fan input when making the palette....he seems genuinely invested in making a good brand as opposed to a cash grab. If it ends up being good quality? I won't know how to feel, because James Charles is a groomer/creep, yet he'll get support (not from me) because he genuinely cares about makeup! But look at how people supported Jeffree when he got involved with lashgate and came back: so many people forgot about what he's done.

I could feel myself becoming excited for his brand when he talked about how there’s really nothing wrong with being not a being a pro mua, but then I remembered that nothing’s been done about what happened between him and those minors he was talking online. I feel iffy about supporting him because of this. Unless legal charges are brought against him and it gets sorted out in court, I don’t feel comfortable supporting him. But I doubt charges will come. Those were minors he was talking to and what are they gonna do? Admit to their parents what they’ve been doing online? Just my two cents.

I don't know who in the world is still watching or supporting James anymore, but I have my money on colored liquid eye liner. Also, not James exploiting small creators and MUAs for his own personal gain *gasp*

Also by sending his PR to "select" individuals he chooses from this "hashtag" group is already setting it up that the only "influencers" getting the PR will be his fans, and thus more biased towards recommending his products.

Like I love a big influencer saying that makeup is for everyone and it's ok to not be perfect and beautiful can mean different things for different people- all that is so great and makes me want to get behind a message like that. But I can't forget all the weird things he's done over DM's and how sketchy and manipulative he's been, and it makes me wonder if I can even trust what he's saying now or if he's just saying what people want to hear. There is literally nothing James could do marketing wise that would make me ever consider purchasing a product from him. Messaging multiple underage fans is not some drama that can just be considered over. It is a literal crime. I think too much time has passed where people are starting to forget and turning a blind eye to his past behaviour. Unfortunately I feel like he'll have more than enough people thag will buy from his brand because they probably weren't into the beauty community or that involved when all of this stuff with James happened.
