Hey man, heard you playing with Tomo at NAMM, you've got an incredible sound! I play an Otto Link 7* STM, and I was wondering if you know how the NY compares to the STM?

Cvarier Thank you. The STM is a medium/large chamber with a medium roll over baffle. The NY like I play is a large chamber. I’ve had a few people look at mine and say it’s more like an extra large chamber. I’ve found that the skins spreads more, projects less on the NY because of this.

You sound good! If you want less resistance why dont you use 2S Reeds then? Do you geht too bright then?

Thank you! I do actually. I tend to play anywhere from a 2M to a 3M on any given day. It depends on how I feel. Most of the time i'm on the 2H but lately there have been more days in which I just feel better on the stiffer reed. I just roll with it.

Reeds are so moody :-/ I go into the studio today and still I have no clue which reed I play. I checked my reeds out yesterday and I have 2 good ones, but as you say - every day has its special mood

I'm having a hard time finding a good mouthpiece I have a dukoff D7 and I'm having some intonation problems so I'm thinking about getting a link in the size 8

a dukoff d7 and Otto link 8 are at two sides of the spectrum

An Otto Link and A Dukoff rare totally different. All I can say, is play a few different types of mouthpieces to try to figure out what you gravitate to. I played Dukoffs for years..a D7 for many of them. The Link is going to have much more resistance, less projection, but a far better bottom end and a much rounder sound depending on the size and reed size you get.. Look at the inside of the mouthpieces, particularly at the baffles, and you'll see the difference. Good luck.

better get a Size 7*. The wider the tip opening the harder the tuning. But a Link is a good choice!

What neck strap is that?

I think that's my Rico neck strap, which I just recently misplaced. Very comfortable.
