James Brown is my favorite entertainer of all time since 1968 when I was 12 years old. I saw him over 100 times in concert I have all of his records. So basically anything you wanna know I can tell you. He was 31 years old here. The TAMI SHOW was a rock/soul concert with The Rolling Stones and other groups. They followed him in the show which was a big mistake. And Mick Jagger actually try to do some of his dance moves. This is the earliest concert footage of James Brown that I have seen. Keep in mind his first record was on 1956 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. From the age of 22 on he was even much faster than he was here, there are so many recollections of him on stage at that time my former band members and people like that saying he used to do backflips off of pianos onto a split and things like that. But there’s really no footage available that I’ve ever seen before this. The whole portion of his show on here was great. So if you wanna react to all four songs they are OUT OF SIGHT, PRISONER OF LOVE, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and NIGHT TRAIN. If you don’t want to react to all of them I would suggest please react to the performance from the same show of PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. That show causes his famous cape routine better than any other filmed performance.

James Brown was 31 years old, when he and The Famous Flames performed on the 1964 Rock concert film, “The TAMI Show”. It was the greatest gathering of Rock music artists until Woodstock in 1969. I highly recommend that you buy a DVD copy of this concert film for your home video library.

Just watching this performance wears me out, he just whipped that crowd into a frenzy and kept pushing and pushing with those electric dance moves. Can you imagine being the group that had to follow this? Yeah, the Rolling Stones had to follow this showstopper.

JAMES BROWN first began his career as a member of the singing group THE FAMOUS FLAMES…not as a SOLO ARTIST fronting a Funk Band. He had many hits with THE FLAMES…and THE FAMOUS FLAMES were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. James was inducted separately in 1986.

The famous TAMI SHOW from 1964, where James Brown made a crazy entrance onto the stage with a crazy rhythm on "Out of Sight" and on one foot and then footwork that goes beyond the unimaginable, especially when he slides on the whole scene from left to right crossing his legs and feet at crazy speed, even Mr. Jackson never did it, this is where the audience and viewers saw the extra-terrestrial J.B Elvis Presley will find the idea of this Show with James Brown and the Stones great, especially since it was losing momentum at that time, it is the same producer Steve Binder who will produce Elvis' 1968 show for his comeback special , from there Elvis will be a hit. A wonderful time. Here a colorized video of the TAMI SHOW and J.B's performance on "Out of Sight": kzread.info/dash/bejne/omuK2LqTm9uthrw.html James Brown is indeed the first to have developed and invented the rhythm and this Soul-Funk groove, which will then inspire countless artists including Rap. James Brown is the King of Soul, father of Funk and spiritual father of M.Jackson and Prince and the most plundered and sampled artist in the world, with among others Funky Drummer, the drum rhythm, the monstrous groove that will inspire thousands of musicians. I saw James Brown on stage 10 times in Paris, from 1984 to 2004, a nuclear bomb with the presence of his still unrivaled musicians, see Macéo Parker etc. James Brown is and remains the greatest performer on stage (and in the studio), which Mick Jagger and many others will say. Not to mention his very active activities in politics for the defense of black people in the USA (with Sam Cook). He is the only artist and Icon of the black people in the United States, and in a certain way in the world. He's the Boss. I have almost all the James Brown albums with old instrumental vinyls as well, and Mind Power in the JB Paybak album from 73 has an incredible groove with wah wah guitar.

I first saw James Brown in concert in 1962, when I was a college student in Tennessee, 20 years old at the time. It was at a concert and dance at a venue in the black part of town, when there was official racial segregation. A few of us white music lovers were confirmed to the Balcony above the dance floor. It was the peak experience of my early years for sure. I always get excited whenever I see this cut. This was before he crossed over, so to speak, and was known mostly by The black community. I saw him several times after that in the 60s in Memphis. Yeah, the sound quality on this is terrible, but it was just a recording for television. I am happy to see younger generations get just as enthusiastic as I was about old JB.

James Brown was supposedly 30 at this time, however there was reports that JB signed a number of documents claiming he was born in 1928. People from the day always dogged him because of his age, or mystery thereof. JB mentioned his biographies that the first video performance was in 1961 on American Bandstand. There is a few other TV performances of JB(Shindig) on here from 1963.

No, the 1928 birthday is completely erroneous. They mixed him up with another lesser known James Brown who was born in Tennessee. it’s been proven he was born in 1933 in Barnwell, South Carolina.

I think that you were probably born after 1970. I say this because most of the people born after that date would be unfamiliar with the Famous Flames, because a lot of the young people who post the TAMI SHOW videos are crediting just “James Brown”, and not “James Brown & The Famous Flames”…even thoughThe Flames are right up there performing with James. Did you know that The Famous Flames are inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…and that almost all of James Brown’s early hits were with the Flames ? In fact , on This Very Performance, they were introduced as “James Brown & The Famous Flames”. Their name was on the credits of every record. And on every MARQUEE at the venues where they played…their VOICES were on almost EVERY SONG. James was lead singer of The Famous Flames from 1953-1968…BEFORE he started performing Funk music.
