    So let me get this straight. Alex gets kicked in the nuts, and somehow hall is the one that loses focus. Alex waves Dean off. Alex Touches his gloves with Jamal to let each other know they're back in the fight. Jamal throws a punch that alex dodges and alex throws a left hook of his own that lands At what point did he lose focus, to me it just seemed like he lost straight up

    tbh whether he lost focus or not is irrelevant. He signalled that he was ready to keep fighting. If he got distracted by a big pair of tits in the front row would chael still be saying this? Part of the job of high level athletes is to stay focused on their sport regardless of whats going on around him, and if you cant do that then you shouldnt be fighting at the highest level.

    It is a valid point. I'm not ragging on Dean because it was heat of the moment decision but we can't have Refs saying "break" and then one or the other fighter unilaterally overriding the ref. Jamal did what he was supposed to do and obeyed the Ref and stopped. He's expecting Herb to step in the middle, ask Alex if he's all right, and then restart the action. Instead, Alex suddenly becomes the Ref and unilaterally restarts the action. Alex is dictating all this unusual behavior. Jamal has to react to all the unusual behavior. That gives Alex big advantage. I think Alex wins either way, but it wasn't handled properly and we can't have it working this way moving forward.

  • @scottwillie6389

    @scottwillie6389

    Ай бұрын

    @@callanc3925 If the Ref stopped the fight because of the big tits, then yes. Herb erred in the way he handled it. If he says stop, the fight should stop and HERB should be the one who restarts it, not Alex. It was not the standard way a stoppage is supposed to work, which is distracting in itself, but worse is the fact Alex was basically dictating the entire sequence which means for Alex he knows exactly what's going on while for Jamal he's like "WTF" and has to react to all this weirdness as it happens. Not the hugest deal in the world, but moving forward we can't allow this type situation to repeat itself because you can easily imagine scenarios where it could unfold far more unfairly than it did here. Jamal was wronged. Certainly not intentionally and not that egregiously and not enough to make a big deal about it. But he was wronged and the Refs should all observe what happened here and resolve not to let it happen again. I bet Herb has already done that in his mind.

    Yup. Not the hugest deal in the world, but it wasn't handled properly and it does give Alex a slight advantage. If Ref stops the action, Ref should step in even if just for a second and follow the normal procedure and then restart the action. Not doing that is distracting to the fighters and since Alex was the one dictating the weird sequence and Jamal simply reacting to it, it puts Jamal at the disadvantage. I think Herb understands that and we won't ever see a repeat of what happened last weekend.

    I've watched it many times. I've watched it many times looking at Jamahal. He doesn't miss any beats. In fact, Poatan takes a slight step BACK just after he touches Herb's hand to wave him off from calling a timeout. The two fighters then touch hands and they both begin to do the same thing they'd been doing. Then, 2 seconds after the brief timeout attempt, Poatan pulls Jamahal's lead hand down and fires a left hand and Jamahal tries to fire his own power left, and Poatan slips it as he knocks Jamahal to the ground with his left. There's nothing else at play other than Jamahal was completely outclassed. He has no clue how to strike at Poatan's level. And YOU, Chael, are trying to cope over how hard you tried to promote Jamahal's chances of beating Poatan. You tried to sell those tickets so hard that you believe it yourself, even after his loss. Jamahal never was that great. There was nothing shocking about his loss. There is nothing to talk about, speculate or dissect. Jamahal was never that good, and Poatan is one of the GOATS.

But a KO so early in the round doesn't mean Poatan got lucky, it means Hill wasn't good enough to stand with him any longer, Poatan needed one opening and he capitalised, I'm willing to accept that Hill lost focus, but that's completely on him, resetting the position to reward Hill after he himself hit low is oxymoron personified. But yeah, this is a sport where you can win off eye pokes, so garbage excuses like these are nothing out of the ordinary. wHy diDn'T rEf CaLL tiMeoUt aFteR I LoW BLowEd hIM? He used Herb to close the distance by waiving off the break, then he used Herb to seal of the right side (Hill's left side) then he used the gate to close the rear exit, next he stepped on Hill's foot with his whole body angled outside of his. Next, he sent Hill to the shadow realm. This is why in a boxing matches when there is a break you see the boxer who is not the aggressor put the ref in between him and the opposing fighter and walk back to the center of the ring.

    Chael, I agree with you on the loss of focus, that is a very interesting point to bring up. But id like to share my perspective, if you happen to watch the fight again, look at the lead hand battle between them. Pereira and Hill bump gloves in a rhythm, and Pereira lands great shots off of breaking that rhythm . Mainly left jabs to the body to condition Hill to parry low with his lead. When they go back into the fight after the crotch kick, Alex advances, and they continue the hand fighting, bumping lead hands in that rhythm. Pereira is again the one to break that rhythm by feinting a straight right, all while he is holding Hills right glove with that right arm of Hill fully extended. He sort of drops/parries Hills right hand to slip the left hook right over top. I think Pereira is levels above in his game plan, and a lot of that also contributed to Hills loss of focus. From what I have seen, Alex Pereira showed there are levels to his standup that most fighters don't see the full extent of. I may be overthinking things, but I think Alex is very intentional, and it seems to get better with every fight. This is ofc best put on display when Pereira's opponent obliges in keeping the fight on the feet. the Strickland fight was extremely similar to this.

He should do some soul searching, because if there is one thing that his father would be a lot more ashamed than Chael never getting a title would be his lack of integrity, his need to lie about a lot of things in order to stay relevant.
