I cannot believe how this race wasn't promoted more...or at all. Surely, the fact that some chap was trying to run two consecutive sub-4 minute miles and break a 20 odd year old record is worth a bit of media coverage in the build up to the attempt. The BBC coverage was dreadful. It should have been the highlight of the meet but the BBC only showed a brief "highlights of the race" clip. Ridiculous!

I just don't get it.. I mean.. See it from the event holders point of view.. You wont get the world lead distance runner, who's the reigning Olympic champ on the 1500's & world champ on the 5 K to to show up on your event for free (Golden league or not), yet alone go for a WR deemed impossible. Logically, the whole purpose of making that kind of an investment, is gaining as much profit as possible from it. And for that to happen, the 'star event' is the one to promote, as well as ensure gets the TV coverage! These guys, on the other hand, appear to have managed to put their biggest star in a side-event.. This just don't make any sense, what so ever!

Thank you for posting this video, really enjoy watching the best do their thing. One request, though, if you are going to be posting more races, could you not have the race results in the title? Not everyone can watch these races as they happen (myself included), and KZread is where we get to see them.

A world record deserves to get attention though. KZread isn't live tv. Uploaders can't be expected to cater to the minority of people that wanted to watch it live. I'm in that minority too btw. I knew about this record attempt beforehand but couldn't watch it live. The majority of people didn't know about it though. And they only found out through video titles like this. This video would have very little views if it didn't mention the world record.

@@jamie.lennon1 I guess we will agree to disagree, then. There are many videos I do not watch (Fights, Tennis and Track) because they gave all of the details in the title. One example of a fight I didn't watch because the title stated how one fighter was destroyed, when he was destroyed and how it ended (head kick). Everything was already stated, so I didn't watch because I already knew how and when it ended. On the other hand, if, for example, a video has a title of "Thomas Goes for the World Record", or "Watch Thomas and Paulino's Epic Race", I would be intrigued because there is a chance of a new record, or there is a really good battle, but I'll have to watch to see who won.

@@marcd1981 Yeah we're quite different then. It doesn't spoil it for me at all knowing the end result. I wanted to see how the hell Jakob managed to run that fast! Yes live would have been more enjoyable but this is the next best thing. I wouldn't want the uploader to call the video "Jakob attempts the world record" because he didn't just attempt it, he smashed it. And people need to know this. It attracts more people to the sport of athletics. And Jakob gets the attention he deserves.
