you caught that too! huh? then it shows the vulnerability of the soul.. loved how he said what his favorite smell was. heard that some people. at the point of their own death have said "I smell Bread in the Oven!" or something to that effect.

@@chuyocaca4153 "Stroke victims" have occasionally reported smelling "burnt toast." I believe that is what you are referring to (although that meaning is different from what you were saying, not some pleasant memory of bread baking).

As tame as that was, Jake is always a delight. And "There is stuff happening, okay?" is probably my favorite off-the-cuff answer I've heard so far. (Since the segment started, I feel like many of the people have had one in the bank.)

You can't argue with the truth of it, and it has a lovely bit of added defiance/despair 😂 I tried to come up with five words off-the-cuff too and got "Life continues until it doesn't"

The part about driving with his dad got me...much respect.

Wait, I think this is the first time I feel like I truly *know* the guest just because of their answers. And it makes me absolutely love how goofy he is. 😊

Actually, a similar saying exists in 2 my languages. And it was born in the 1980s and made popular in 90s. Reborn something like a year ago for the youngest generation. It is for ever, I guess 😂

Lol. I'm totally going to use the "There is stuff happening, Ok?" when I'm visiting with family and they ask about my life but but don't necessarily want to talk.

"There is stuff happening, okay?" love love love love it. So much so that I'm going to go back and collect all the five-word answers from other Colbert Questionert respondents.

"Real Emotional Girl" from Trouble In Paradise is the one from that album I really love. Actually, both 'Girl' songs. "Same Girl" is also terrific.

Not only he is very HOT he is also very nice. I’ve seen him in a Broadway play where he was amazing. But like right after the play my friend and I met him at a red light, gushing over the fact that he was very great during the play. And he was like so genuine.

Smell: Baked bread. This man is my soul mate! 😍

In the movie “day after tomorrow“ Jake Gyllenhaal was a student, and the climate was radically changing… He was with a few schoolmates flying to New York for a competition between schools and the plane hit some incredibly bad turbulence… Jake was extremely panicked.

@@darktheories1758 Fantastic movie! I hadn't thought about either the original movie or Jake Gyllenhaal in years and now I can't stop rewatching the new one, and all Jake's stuff. Road House is big dumb fun, but it does try to have a more serious side too, and Jake squeezes every drop of potential out of the script.

OK, it's on. I always feel weird when I see celebrities out and about (I live in NYC) and I'm not sure if I should approach them. If I'm a really big fan, I usually go for it. (For the record, literally everyone I've met has been really nice.) Jake is literally the #1 celebrity that I would like to meet. There are other big ones, but I've met a lot of them. He's definitely top of the list and if I ever see him, this interview has given the green flag to say "hi." Maybe I'll carry around meringues just in case. LOL

I live in Los Angeles and have the same feelings. I actually feel even stranger, I feel like I’m sort of seeing a wild animal in the forest and I don’t want to disturb them. But occasionally I have risked a quick hello or a nod. There’s a deli where this happens on the regular. I too have had largely nice reactions. I would love to “run into” Jake as well but it’s unlikely as he’s a New Yorker 👍👍🤷‍♀️

He used to look older than his age. Now he looks younger.

Jake is an odd fellow. I guess that is what suited him so well the for the roles he is remembered by. I'm not sure what steel he was crafter by, but he seems like a nice person.

For the last couple of years (or however long this segment has been running) I've been utterly *convinced* that the number Stephen is thinking of is nine, due to its relevance in Lord of the Rings, and Stephen's love of those stories. Now he's said that that's not it, I have absolutely no idea what his number is.

OTOH, there's a natural number I'm deeply surprised no one has guessed, for it is, after all, the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. He's the right kind of person for that to be his number; and, if it isn't, someone should still have tried it because it would have been funny.
