In this video I remove the crankshaft and talk through my plans for the engine block.

Probably caused by oil dilution, due to EGR valve , short journeys and too long between oil services.

Really looking forward to see how this goes for you. I have an XE and think I seen this one advertised for sale. Best of luck 👍

Thanks Mark! I've sent the engine block away and the guy who's doing the liners says he'll get a look at it next week. Hopefully it's successful! How long have you had your XE? Has it the same engine?

@positivevehiclesolutions I really hope it is. Yes, same engine unfortunately 😂 Its a 2017 R Sport I've had it about 3 years. No major issues...touch wood. They are a great driving car, just a pity about the diesel engines. I shared a link on the XE forum to your channel hopefully you will get a few subscribers.

Thanks so much! That was really nice of you! Fingers crossed you don't have any issues! I think cutting the service intervals in half would help with some of the issues!

@positivevehiclesolutions No problem at all. There is a good bunch of very knowledgeable guys on there. Yes, I totally agree about the service intervals and don't use the stop/start. I'll give you a shout sure if I have any trouble 😂 I'm in Northern Ireland too

I can’t tell if you have the 20D or 20t. I’d clean out the DPF if that’s what you have out. It’s an expensive bit, and a a diluted pool acid clean is plenty to clean it out.

Hi, thanks for your comment. It's a 2.0 Diesel. Yes 100% I'll be cleaning it out. The dpf is most likely blocked. I didn't check pressure readings before taking the engine out.

Allie in Canada looking at a Jaguar F Pace P400. You definitely look like the right man to ask. Good engine?

Hi Allie, thanks for your comment. I did work for JLR for a short time but that engine was only coming into production. I don't have any first hand experience with it unfortunately.

Hi, what tool have you used for main bearing bolts? Is it possible with torx or something special from jaguar only?

I used ordinary torx. I think it was t60 from memory.

Many Jaguar Ingenium series engines end in a similar way - sometimes the timing chain ends, sometimes the balanceshafts end, and sometimes the oil in the turbine disappears or the cylinder liner becomes an ellipse. In general, the quality of these engines is extremely low and clearly destroys the Jaguar legend. The costs of used engines already reach half of the vehicle's value. Give a wide berth.

I’m glad I’m not alone on this. All in all, Jaguar really just put out something sexy but didn’t go 100% on the execution. Which is sad, because the drive overall on these vehicles is very nice. But the fact that they cut corners on so many minor things really is what makes these cars disappointing. They should be able to do a great job, but the timing chain and the stuff inside of the engine leaves a lot to be desired.
