What I especially love about Jacob, is, that he always lets the other people shine. It’s like if he turns their weaknesses into strengths. Everything sound in the end as if was intended exactly that way. Incredible, absolute insane musicality… love it!

I'd love to see your reaction to some of his really early stuff..."Close To You", "Flintstones", and maybe "All Night Long" even though it's a little more recent. Grammys for Flintstones and All Night Long. Some alien moments for sure!

Jacob is immensely talented. I’ve been fortunate to see him twice live and chat with him after one of those shows (he’s super humble and friendly). He’s definitely one to watch along with Justin Lee Schultz on the multi-instrumentalIst/singer/composer side. On a completely different (but musical) note, Japan has totally blown up the hard rock and metal scene, and it’s mostly all-female bands. Tons of talent and a different twist on things. Pretty sure you’d like Band-Maid (very syncopated hard rock, and their drummer Akane is the best rock drummer I’ve seen in decades). Also great from that scene are Nemophila, Lovebites, Hanabie, Lonesome_Blue, Gacharic Spin, Scandal, Bridear, TELECiDE, and Aldious to get you started. There’s over 70 bands in that space that I follow.

From the whole I*harm*U series, the reharmonization of the Switzerland guy playing on the glass bowl is one of my absolutely favorite ones.

Another great and very authentic reaction! There are any number of videos that will leave you speechless with his technical prowess. For example, "Jacob Collier Plays the Same Song In 18 Increasingly Complex Emotions" comes to mind off the top of my head. However, his genius is not just technical, but rather truly musical; he is like an incarnation of music itself. Check out "Make Me Cry | Mahogany Session" for an example of this. And yes: every song is like a gut punch (glad I'm not a musician anymore ;-) )

If you're interested in his process, Jacob has done a few live streams showing him creating one of these "I Harm U" videos. Search up "Jacob Collier I Harm U Live".

I agree: some of the most jaw-dropping stuff is just him in his room creating in front of your eyes.

I do like this content...a lot. You really offer yourself generously through your reactions. You're really listening and I have to believe that Jacob would appreciate that respect. I just watched another Jacob reaction where two guys were so busy stream of conscienceing each other that I got the impression they were barely aware of the video. Unfortunate. You on the other hand take what you're doing seriously and with a lot of love.

Another excellent reaction! What I love about the I Harm U series, and as you allude to in your reaction, is that he's truly supporting and surrounding the submissions; he's not trying to override what the folks are doing, but trying to elevate what they've provided regardless of their relative raw talents. I know you're working your way through the IHarm series (much appreciated), but would also like to see some other JC reactions. There's so many to choose from, but I personally love his cover of All Night Long given the multiple collaborations and cameos, along with some serious display of his multi-instrumental chops. Thanks for sharing these vids!

I'd bet Jacob Collier could have been dropped into any century and be able to master the musical instruments, genres and be world class. Whoever did drop him into this century, made it one to early. But good for us, to see him develop in real time and astound us.
