I remember when this came on t.v. on channel 7 in New York City in 1971 there wasn’t a kid to be found outside, everyone was home getting ready for The Going Back To Indiana Concert to come on. This was was a BIG EVENT when I was coming up I’m glad I got the opportunity to experience it with my Brother.

My sister watched this actual special when it aired!!! My sister was a teenager and I was a pre-teen and our mother told us if we wanted to watch it we had to take our baths first so we would be ready for bed after we watched it, It was so hard to go to sleep after a show performance like that!!! That's all we could talk about the next dayd at school. Then for Christmas our parents bought us the soundtrack and I played it and sang along almost all Christmas Day!!! It was so exciting!!!
I remember seeing this on tv back in 1971. It was the greatest thing I had ever seen. J5 fever at it's height.

Jackie and tito stand strong for Gary indiana. They didn't get Hollywood. They was just very rich and super famous. Jackie was FINE back in the day. He protected his baby brothers and was the strongest brother. Much respect to Jackie Jackson...he is what a big brother and 1st born son is supposed to be. 👑🏆 His voice and dancing moves was as smooth as he was back in his prime

Apparently Sting, a seasoned musician at 27/28years old, spent many extra hours rehearsing because of how difficult it is to play the bass and sing at the same time in the Police. Jermaine here is 17, dancing. singing and playing those complex basslines. These kids were worked HARD!!

God bless and thank you for this stupendous upload, what a wonderful and great , great performance, they really worked hard and their efforts, sacrifice, and so heir talents paid - off, truly a wonderful group of young guys , smart, and very talented, gifted with their gifts to perform, sing, dance and play instruments. Very well done. God bless the Jackson Family Always.
They performed in these same costumes live in concert in 1971.
We love you Michael Jackson rest in peace
Can't deny the talent
That's one serious part in Bill Cosby's hair!!
🤔Many times I've seen this concert, first time noticing Jermaine playing "Stand" with a pick cause always knew he ripped playing overhand (finger style), slapping he's aw ight but first time seeing him playing with a pick though
Thank you so much for this.

You gotta give Tito and Jermaine mad props to play, sing, and still be on dance beat too??? Dope!!!
I miss growing up in those times the whole world was a better place to live in comparison to today in 2023 The world is so corrupt and evil I remember seeing this J5 show clip in 1971 at only 6 yrs old born in 1965.... Saturday morning cartoons were the best and a magical time to be a kid.

This is an awesome find! Thanks so much for sharing, I've been a Jackson 5 fan since I was a kid in the late 60s/early 70s and their Christmas album has been a favorite since I got it at age 9 when it was released. My children love that album today as well. Thanks!

Hey there I just want to thank you so much for posting this on your channel. You have brought so many great memories back for me with doing this. What a wonderful show it really was and Michael was very sweet along with his brothers. The amazing talent he had as at a young age singing live in front of thousands of people was electric. Thanks again and take care and I hope you post more as you seem to be not as active. God bless xx
Jermaine is awesome.. singing and playing great bass lines. Feeling Alright is the best version I have heard.. I can see why my sister (who saw the first J5 tour live) was more into Jermaine than his younger brother Michael.

This is the EPITOME of MODESTY!!!
47:06 you can hear inflections of Adult Michael Jackson ❤
Reality check time: 1. At 6:08 You can hear the bass but see that Jermaine is not actually playing it as his right hand is completely off the instrument. (I wonder what Joe had to say about that afterward) 2. The bass line is not by Jamerson. A sax player wrote and played it on the recording session (I forget the player's name). However, the bass line is considered one of the best in pop music.
