Jackery Explorer 500 Portable Power Station Review With Hairdryer & Slow Cooker On A Hiking Trip?
Hi guys, The folks at Jackery sent me a pretty good lithium-ion power station to review, and they actually delivered pretty well on the specs and promises. I hiked up a mountain with a slow cooker and a hairdryer to test out the power of this power station. I have some links below and a discount code to the product, it should be available in the next week or so. Anyways, it performed amazingly. I'll let the video do the talking, any questions please ask!

I've been exploring the power stations for weeks. Your first hand review is what I needed to act. I just put on order the same unit that you have in this mountain adventure. Thank you ! Your discount code is valid as of 9/14/19 (yesterday) as I save 20% and that is my second thank you Steve ! Update - the unit is here 9/20/2019. It came at 31% charged so it is now plugged in and charging. This is quality unit as it looks well built. Update #2 - charged and ready to go 9/21/2019. Charged two Dewalt old school NiMH 18v tool batteries that were about 1/2 charged and let each one charge for 2 hours each (about 10 minutes for the initial charge then top off time). The Jackery still has 81% charge after charging the two Dewalt batteries. That is impressive as the Dewalts are a sizeable NiMH battery. I have just received the Jackery 60W solar panel today and will use it tomorrow to charge back up the Jackery 500w power station. 5 stars so far.

I also bought one and used it for a week-long camping trip. Love it.
Mate, they just started selling these in Australia,... with an Aussie plug of course...went and bought one and camped on the weekend. Got the rice cooker going and the nespresso coffee machine.... The kids also charged the iPads multiple times ... gave it a boost on the car 12v for some top up ... really loved it... great review thanks 🙏
The key difference with a heat gun is that it will burn your hair clean off.

I love that in order to test a lithium-ion (and therefor relatively lite) power station, you lug a ceramic crock and a box of wine up the hill. Well done Steve, you are my kind of camper! Your point about the CPAP power supply is right on.
Steve, I will eventually buy the Jackery, because your demonstration and the recommendation of this product. Thanks. Cheers!

What a fantastic review! Not a usual 5 min deal. How lovely that it doesn't look like you have allergies while outdoors.
I have a battery jumper box that has battery clamps, 110VAC plugs, DC USB, & an air pump all combined. I love how tech has come up with such things!
Fun way to review a product.. you always make things interesting 👍
The master! Steve we love your non-conventional process - you are the best :)
😄 love your sense of humor Steve.
Nothing against Jackery (it seems like a nice product) but you can make your own. I purchased a used lithium defibrillator battery (1200wH) off eBay for $80 as well as an 350W sine inverter and an ammo can and made my own for about $230 US. These things are also a godsend it you loose power and have a gas tankless water heater.
Thanks for sharing this review about the Jackery portable power station. Your discount code knocks off quite a bit off of the final cost as well. I'm so getting this for my lil camping Adventures🥗🥩🏕🌌🌄
Pulling out the wine box - priceless!
i will gladly sit through any steve commercials, as long as steve is getting paid for it!
great video quality steve. not that others were bad, just noticed this one was really clear.
best slow cook is the drive to the site where you camp. Wrap a nice roast and carrots in many layers of foil and put it on your engine then drive the 4 hrs or so to your camp site and bang. full slow cooked meal and left overs for a soup or chili .
My slow cookers are rated as 155 Watts for the large one, and 35 Watts for the small one. Plenty of wattage for the Jackery. I use a Rockpal 500Watt inverter for various items. I leave one here in the house, in case of an Earthquake, so I can turn on lights, charge phone etc. And the other one stays in my RV, for various uses. I had an electrician test my hair dryer and the wattage on high, was 1500Watts, and on low 400Watts. So I just let my hair dry slightly, and then finish drying it off on low. Works wonders.
No bears were intoxicated during the making of this video, just Steve
this would have been amazing when I lived in my car.
Man you eat better in the Bush then I do at home 😂 thx for sharing. Keep up the great work!!
Guy just finds the video, looks for the link, finds out the video is two years old, and d'oh. Still gonna try to buy one. Thanks Steve.
For that price, I'm glad it ran the stuff you didn't think it would!
Your walk away shots are very les stroud, love your work man👍🏻
That Jackery looks like it would be awesome on a canoe trip where weight isn't as much of an issue. haa I had to laugh, I like your style with the fondue and a box of wine, you should have worn a turtle neck shirt and had some classical music plugged into that Jackery! I am glad your having a blast out there bud!

Its always a good day when you get a new Doing Stuff with Steve video.... Great review. I am o going to have to get one of those. I wonder if it will power a Traeger Pellet Smoker and for how long. but I can find 10 uses for it while I am camping in my jeep. man 42K subs. I remember when it was around 3k and when you were camping out in the winter while going to school. it was so raw and real and unscripted. that what I love about your channel! glad you reviewed this product, it is just what I am looking for.

I happen to have the 500W Rockpal, I love it. When not camping I leave it at the house, in case of an earthquake, or wildfires affecting my electric. I’m in California. #HappyCamping
Love your dry humor!
The best, keep doing what you do !
Couldn’t keep a straight face about the electric fence. 😂 Excellent overview of the product.
Thank you. You gave an explanation I could understand.
Love the flowery meadow you’re sitting in
We are on a tiny island in MAINE USA and use a Honda eu2000 to have some electricity when needed. Although it runs quite quietly, I do think of solar or a battery pack like this as an alternative. Thanks for the great review and keep the vids coming. 😀🏕👍
I know this was several years ago but what a gorgeous place.
“Good backpacking meal?... fondue 😂
Nice camping piece! Thanks Steve! Let me know when' it's available.
Pure minimalist. Carry only what needed. We learn lot.
I for 1 love product reviews steve I dont want to spend my hard earned dollars on products that dont work thank you
Haha, I'll have to bring the slow cooker on my next backpacking trip. I need some delicious fondue.
I think this guy is making a mockery of the jackery with crockery.
That looks awesome!
I would like to have one of these for my sailboat.
This all seemed very necessary, well at least until the boxed wine came out 😂. Seems like you didn't need to haul that whole box. Love ya Steve.
Dude, you're insane. haha "Traditional backpacking meal: Fondue." Quality entertainment here. :D
if u had the solar attchment, how long would it take to charge it full? 10 hours? 12?
Add Kirsch to your fondue, you will never go back to wine. Thank you for the review on the Jackery.
I will be buying one for sure as it will be perfect when I camp in my van with several of my dogs in cool weather,.
Hi Steve. Great video. It comes with 2 solar panels. If beautiful wife says were keeping it, go for it. Be well.
haha this guy has it made - the wife is at home watching the dog while he's up a mountain making fondue....with an ELECTRIC fondue maker none the less! LOL
Loves my slow cooker. I flick it on as I leave for work.
Obsessed with Bears lol. Will checkout this product for trips to the off grid bunkie. Currently use an rv battery, inverter, and solar panel (not hiking with that setup).
I wonder what the jackery would do with a skill saw or like a drill or something cuz that could be useful for out on the ranch or something
I've got the Jackery 300 and it works great; used it a few times when the power was out at the house.
Heat gun. Crock pot. Fondue. Dude awesome!
