In 2021, Jack Bland was diagnosed with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD), a profound hearing loss. Children's Hospital of Atlanta doctors referred him to Pediatric ENT of Atlanta (PENTA) for additional testing at PENTA's Pediatric Hearing Center.
After examination and testing, the Doctors of Audiology met with the Pediatric Cochlear Implant team to discuss his case. The team reviewed Jack's condition and candidacy for cochlear implants.
Jack was approved as a candidate, received bilateral cochlear implants, and began his new hearing journey. This is Jack's story, a multiple-part video series by Jack's parents, and the experiences of Jack's hearing loss and hearing achievements with cochlear implants.
