deepak bommasagar, the original song is Jotheyali (Kannada movie GEETHA - 1981). It was COMPOSED by the same person MAESTRO ILAYARAJA. Then came the Tamil version in 1984 "Vizhiyile mani vizhiyil". Then this Cheeni kum song, after BALKI requested Maestro to reuse this tune because North Indians would have NEVER heard Jotheyali or Vizhiyile! Sad.

This tune is Originally from Kannada movie Geetha (1981).

Everyone is praising the talent of Ilayaraja ji here but can we take a moment to praise how beautifully Shreya Ghoshal has sung this song 💓

The song Jotheyali ….. in Geetha (1981), Vizhiyile ….in Nooravathu Naal (1984) and Jaane do na … in Cheeni Kum (2007), which is an alluring synth version for the GenNext, are all stately, shimmering diamonds, in their respective languages, immaculately conceptualized by the ingenious composer Ilaiyaraja.

Well yes it a fab song.. only that the composer Illayarja gave us this song in Kannada (Respected south indian language) in 1981.. This is like 26years late and yet the composition is so classy.. Listen to the song and appreciate the composer.. The actors are just doing a small bit..

I recommend the ORIGINAL song "Jotheyali" (from Kannada movie GEETHA - 1981, composed by none other than Maestro ILAYARAJA ). SPB & S. JANAKI would have sung it like crazy good.
