@@cchavezjr7 Neither you nor Shawn are totally correct. Heavy metal (for what us modern people would deem as "heavy metal", the term predates what is now considered "metal") began when Black Sabbath transcribed a simplified and shortened version of Romantic era composer Gustaf Holst's composition "Mars the Bringer of War" on modern "heavy metal" instruments, creating their debut song "Black Sabbath"- all in an effort to find a newer, darker, more edgy sound than what was typical of even the heavier side of 70's blues rock. And while not even Black Sabbath totally ditched their blues influences after that, they, as well as other bands at the time, and bands that would form a decade later (like Metallica and Megadeth) would write music more based on the newer "classical revival" (even though technically the romantic era is different from the classical era) style, which was especially apparent in this new genre's tonal, rhythmic, and melodic differences compared to earlier blues-based rock. As time went on, a lot of Baroque melodic influences would also be heard (Iron Maiden is a great example of that), and the pentatonic-bluesy elements would come to characterize fewer and fewer metal songs and bands until the 90's, when an explosion of metal sub-genres resulted in genres like metalcore, neoclassical, or most of prog metal, which doubled down on what made metal different, and other genres like groove metal, nu metal, or alternative metal, which reincorporated bluesy and other influences.

@@tylergarten4668 How was I wrong? I never stated what metal was. I know that Black Sabbath is considered the first metal band but, just because they took a piece of classical music and translated it to their 3 piece band does not make Heavy Metal a descendant of classical music. I'm also a musician and know all about progressions and modes. Just because I decide to use some classical pieces to form a new piece of music doesn't make my style a modern classical progression. If anything, to me it looks like metal musicians have an inferiority complex and have to tout classical music to try to justify themselves as musicians. That's why I asked why cannot metal just stand on it's own as a form of music.

That was great! I've always found the section that starts around 2min very tricky but you made it sound so smooth. Lovely stuff :-)

Awesome performance! All of her stuff is great. It's amazing that an orchestra could even all get in tune at the time that these pieces were written. Add the complexity of the music, and it's mind-blowing that classical music was even created when it was. Compare this to today. Please keep playing Laura.
