The minuets in the Suite BWV 1006a are a pair of delightful and elegant dance movements from Johann Sebastian Bach's Lute Suite in E major. Composed in the early 18th century, these minuets showcase Bach's ability to blend intricate counterpoint and expressive melodic lines, capturing the graceful essence of the Baroque dance style.
Minuet I is characterized by its light and airy texture, featuring a sprightly, syncopated melody that dances playfully over a steady, gently pulsating bass line. Its charming simplicity and refined ornamentation create an uplifting and joyful atmosphere.
Minuet II, in contrast, is a more introspective and delicate movement, with its minor mode evoking a tender and somewhat pensive mood. Its intimate, conversational interplay between voices creates a sense of emotional depth and complexity, providing a perfect foil to the brightness of Minuet I.
When performed together, the minuets of Suite BWV 1006a offer a captivating glimpse into the intricate world of Baroque dance, highlighting Bach's unparalleled skill in crafting music that is both technically sophisticated and emotionally resonant.

Absolute precision sometimes lacks soul. Not here. Perfect attention to dynamics, phrasing and tempo. This is one of the very top guitarists in the world today, folks.

How many very top classical guitarists are in the world today? There are so many great classical guitarists - many more than in decades past. Though to be honest I like their videos more than their recordings - for recordings I’m always going back to Segovia, Bream, John Williams, Manuel Barrueco Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Roland Dyens and David Russell - those are the true innovators and are recognizable from just a few notes. To my ears the younger generation are almost indistinguishable from each other on recordings especially those competition winners on the Naxos label. There are also almost no innovative guitarists at all. This generation has not yet produced a talent on the level of Roland Dyens.

@@aryehlion9984 Videos are the "recordings" of the current year. And although it's perfectly possibly and probably fine to live in the past and eternally mourn the loss of artists like Roland Dyens, it's also possible to enjoy his legacy being dutyfully carried on and evolved by players like e.g. Marcin. The past and the current and the following generations will produce amazing talents and one just have to embrace them.
I don't know if you're reading this Stephanie, but I just want to say: I've been listening to you playing for a few years now, and you just keep getting better everytime I hear you. You have grown so much into a fantastic musician. God bless!

Relaxing ambiance, very nice. Do you have any tips for developing musical fluency, like like turning words into musical form? Bead ace cafe are the first to come to mind but how to go deeper into musical vocabulary?
i wonder how much an additional effort it takes to go from "playing it very well" to "playing it very well by memory"..?

I always thought 1006a was the lute suite. Hmmm. Must not understand BWV naming convention.

chatgpt does: Minuet I & II BWV 1006a are from the Suite for Lute (or Guitar) in E major by Johann Sebastian Bach. This suite is a transcription of Partita No. 3 for solo violin in E major, BWV 1006. The suite for lute in E major is sometimes referred to as BWV 1006a to distinguish it from the original Partita for violin.
