    In static strength both Geoff Capes and Tom Magee were on next level than Jon Pall, Kazmaier was way above than Magee and Capes just that he was not allowed to compete in WSM after his hatrick. This is not a proper deadlift, and Jon Pall just knows the trick i.e sliding his legs which makes it even shorter and simpler. Imho it shouldn't have been allowed. But Jon Pall was given a green card for everthing back then, OD Wilson's victory was snatched and gifted to him for the shameless racist apartheid rants.

    Around 1983 Jon Pall deadlifted the European record of 370. This was when he was still young to the sport. If Jon Pall were to do a normal barbell deadlift in 1987 ( his prime ) I'm 100% sure he would've been a 400-410 kg man. If not breaking Kaz's world record. You can see this was his strongest year, JPS physique looks so much more "static strength" in this competition.

  • @leescammell9988

    @leescammell9988

    Mr537James doubt it. this isn't a deadlift here, he's sliding his thighs down the wood so the lift starts close to his hips while already leaning back. more like a quarter-squat than a deadlift. at '88 WSM Kaz easily beat Jon-Pall in a more proper deadlift from lower down beneath the knees and JPS felt the need to try and pull it sumo-style to get an edge
