You gotta watch the whole Lolapalooza show! The live band is awesome! Also, Chicken Noodle Soup is a tribute to a song that helped start his passion. He sought the blessings of the OG artist and paid her close to $3M, then chose to have his version out for free. So, he made nothing from it, as it was just to tell of his past.

Actually, Chicken Noodle was 2nd to the last song in J-Hope's set at Lolla (last song was Future). He gave a high-energy, high-power performance of about 1.5 hours. Please watch his entire Lolla performance. I think it's not fair to only watch the 2nd to the last song, he wasn't on "full power" by that point.

You don't have to like chicken noodle soup but it is part of jhope's history ,. In an interview ,I quote -J-Hope also talked about how the original song “Chicken Noodle Soup” by Webstar and Young B is a track that he danced to when he was first learning to dance. As “Hope World” was a mixtape that would express himself, he'd hoped that “Chicken Noodle Soup” would be a way for him to talk about dancing on the album' He is known to have paid $2.7million dollars to sample the original song . Personally I don't love it, the first half of his Lollapalooza set is more my speed, but it is still something that has value and meaning.

Chicken noodle soup is also a song that fits right in with the Hope world mixtape but he wasn't able to clear the sample (???? it was something along those lines. it's been a while and my memory is fuzzy lol) on time for it and released it one year later. Also he thinking of having Tinashe for the track but with Becky being the final feat./collaborator it just ended up being perfect. like we got so much from these two having a song together, we got Becky at lollapalooza, their tight precious friendship, Becky invited him this year to her set at Coachella but because of his enlistment he couldn't go (it's still fkc the military idc). if I misremembered something or said something false you know the drill correct me if necessary bora soldiers🫡🫡💜

Don’t be afraid to tell us you don’t like a song. A lot of reactors I like tell their subscribers they don’t like song but don’t post the video. Honestly every fandom has crazy fans and for some reason the 10% that’s crazy are extremely loud and leave a bad taste. Feel comfortable just telling us what you listened to and your reasons for not liking it 😊. Can’t wait for the guide reaction

totally agree if a reactor liked every song then it would be fake as H.. i want to hear the truth and to be frank chicken noodle soup is not my favorite either. but other fans love it. it´s so deferent what we like and dislike and it would be weird to like all. but we can still appreciate j-hopes choise in making this song and the reason behind it. but that is only something you know if you are an army so for a reactor not getting that is totally okay.

Chicken Noodle Soup is much more than you give it credit for, perhaps in part because you didn’t watch the MV so you didn’t appreciate it. In addition to paying a lot of money for the sample to the original artists, AND giving them credit during the live performance, he also released it as a free song/gift to ARMY. The song is also sung in three languages - English, Korean, and Spanish, the dancers are very diverse (j-hope lists them in the MV on screen at the end of the MV - very rare to see and therefore evidence of his desire to honor them), there is a large amount of diverse culture reflected in the MV, and the dancing is exceptional. It’s street dancing, which is j-hope’s roots. You also saw it in “On the Street” featuring J Cole - j-hope freestyled while J Cole rapped. J-hope will also release a new documentary and accompanying OST album called “Hope On The Street” while he’s serving in the military (all filmed before he left, of course). Chicken Noodle Soup as a song may not be to your taste, which is fine, but please put some respect on it, if for no other reason than it was a very important project for j-hope, personally…paying homage to things that matter to him - dance, hip hop, and diversity. Also, respect Becky G. Your smirking about not liking anything that wasn’t j-hope, just wasn’t it. She has been an extremely good friend to both j-hope himself and to BTS in general. Not everyone they have worked with over the years has done that, so when people do, we honor them. Steve Aioki, Halsey, Max, Anderson Paak, and the members of Coldplay are some others in the same category. Generally, BTS songs, whether individually or with the group, are very intentional. They may not all be “deep,” but 75-80% are at least - and often way more than you’d ever think. CNS is a great example of never underestimating what’s going on with a BTS song. Glad you liked “More.” Jack in the Box as an album is a masterpiece, and it was just named as one of the best k-pop albums in history (#2 I think?). I was at the “Lollapalooza” performance last year, and it was top 2-3 best concerts I’ve been to, and I’m 57 with a LOT of concerts under my belt.

That’s alright guys, you’re not required or obligated to like every song. I myself think it’s a fun song, but I also know the meaning behind it, and I like the MV for it. His lyrics were very autobiographical, so if you didn’t have subtitles that didn’t help either. 🤗

So I actually was not a fan of Chicken Noodle Soup either, but it has grown on me, and I think the reason is because it means so much to J-Hope as part of his "origin story" so to speak. And though I also was not a Becky G fan, I love her friendship with him. This whole Jack in the Box album (which "More" and "Arson" are both on) is a terrific project. The music video for "More" was released first, and "Arson" second.

His entire album "Jack in the Box" is amazing. It tells a story from beginning to end. The concept, the message, the lyrics, the music, all very cohesive and ties in with his persona as J-hope. Just a masterful storytelling. I hope you'll consider doing an album reaction. His Lollapalooza set is electrifying. He's a consummate performer.

More and Arson are both on the Jack in the Box album. More was a prerelease so we heard it first. J-Hope sad that this album should be listened to in order, start to finish. You may to go back to the full album sometime. There are not MVs for the other tracks but visualizers are on the channel Enjoy BTS More with English subs. I think More answers the questions posed in Arson. He's burnt everything out, but he still wants more. Chicken Noodle Soup may grow on you. J-Hope paid for the sample. A couple of million, flew toLA where he hired dancers, and filmed a MV. Then he released the song for free on SoundCloud. Like who does that? Still waiting for a vocal line reaction. The Astronaut by Jin, Like Crazy by Jimin, Seven by Jungkook, and Slow Dancing by V are all fantastic songs and all very different from each other.

You can def post your reaction to chicken noodle soup. I'm curious abt why you guys didn't like it, and it helps us with suggestions in the future. IDK if you know, the original chicken noodle soup song by Webstar and Young B had a very big cultural impact for many black communities, and J-Hope was impacted by it all the way in S. Korea, along with many classic hiphop songs, he used to learn dance with the track. He paid around $3 million for the sample of the original to be able to pay respect to his beginnings and release the song with his own verses abt his story and ofc he gives the original artists a shout out when they finish the performance. Becky also grew up listening to the song, and she also talks abt her experiences as a latin artist in the US in the song. Between the both of them they switch between English, Spanish and Korean throughout the song. I wasn't the biggest fan of it when I first listened to it, but it did grew on me a lot overtime lmao The song was initially intended to be part of J-Hope's first mixtape "Hope World" which has some dark lyrics just like "Jack In The Box" but a much more colorful, light and bubbly aesthetic. Bc of different reasons J-Hope decided to not include this song in the mixtape and instead release it as a free song for fans. It was def more of a passion project he really wanted to put out more than anything. Lollapalooza was the first time they performed together live. Two artists who come from completly different cultures and who mostly speak different languages coming together and collabing bc of their passion for dancing and hiphop. That all being said, don't be afraid of saying you guys personally didn't like a song, ALL WE ASK is for respect for the art itself and how much work they put into it, but everything else when it comes to taste is completly subjective. There are BTS songs I personally don't really like. It's okay ALSO IT'S RM'S BIRTHDAY YAAAAYYYY

I’m glad you express disliking a song, other reactors become side blinded by subscription numbers and the potential of making lots of $$ with Paetron I didn’t like Chicken noodle soup, J-Hope/Becky version, until I understood the lyrics, which address discrimination of minorities and, in the case of Becky, women. Not unlike J-Hope’s experience, Becky also faced/faces discrimination for daring to be herself and become a rapper (ay, ay, ay!) It’s a fun song, humorously pulling the rug under the feet of uni-cultural/uni-ethnic people who reject everything from the “others” and those who want women to only “be in the kitchen” Do I like it to listen it often? Not, but I do love its concept and the synergy among the two artists, who come from very different cultures/history, despite the fact that neither speaks the language of the other.

Chicken Noodle Soup is an interesting song because I remember when it was released, there were quite a few people who didn't get what it was about. However, the music video has almost 400 million views and has become j-hope's most popular one. I think you need to know more about the background of the original song and its history in the black community to appreciate it. I'm a white European, so I'm certainly no expert but I remember reading that Chicken Noodle Soup with a soda was typical inner city comfort food in black families and the original song can be seen as social commentary. The chicken moves are from the original song, by the way. As many have pointed out, J-hope and Becky G's version is a tribute to the black community, their own artistic roots in their teenage years and a celebration of diversity. There is a lot more to the song if you know the backstory and the lyrics, but of course it's OK to not like it as a piece of music.

The band members resemble Jared Leto's character in Fight Club, after he gets his face punched apart by Edward Norton. You could tie in the office sequence with that film as well. The gritty look of it is very David Fincher. The Chicken Noodle Soup video is hella fun, if you haven't watched it. Amazing L.A. dancers who actually got end credits. J-Hope handled that whole project with such swag and class, entirely out of his own wallet.

As a JHope bias, I'm glad you liked JHope's work!! 😊 I agree that he's very creative, he brings out his emotions in his music. If I may suggest you check out his recent album "Jack in the Box" which he produced before he went to his mandatory military service last April. The 2 songs Arson and More are part of the album. He performed all the tracks in his JITB album at Lollapallooza last year in Chicago, you might like to check that out. He packed the place with 105K people. And if you don't feel comfortable releasing your honest reaction to CNS, that's fine 😉 💜.

Chicken Noodle Soup is a children's song, like Super Tuna by Jin. Don't be too harsh. My take on MORE is actually pretty simple. He's known to Army as the Sunshine of the group, and he's a very loving guy (and an introvert - meaning he needs his space). But there's a creative side of him that's dark, it's in Arson, and this solo period is giving him a chance to get or be MORE than just sunshiny big smiles and hope for the world. I'm into it!

More when he was still inside the box and Arson when he came out of the box. That’s why MORE MV Ending showed the whole thing was inside a box, in Arson at the beginning of the video you will see the box lying on the floor -he came out already and ready to burn the world with his genius and talent. Chicken Noodle Soup was a strange J Hope recommendation as it is a cover of a "viral" song by from D J Webstar which in its original form was an African American track which went viral, in part due to its dance. It was a song that got young J Hope into dancing. He adapted it a bit, but his actual release was little more than a nonprofit fun piece to celebrate what inspired him as a child. With a slew of great J Hope originals, I am not sure how you wound up viewing that one early in your journey. It actually in my mind was the weak point of his Lollapalooza concert with an exhausted J Hope who had gone way hard mostly solo for more than an hour relinquishing much of the track's energy to Becky G. Others can disagree but the entire Lollapalooza first set was what was literally top-tier..

  • @OT7_DopeOldARMY

Yep, I disagree. The entire set was amazing from start to finish. Chicken Noodle Soup is what it is, but it in no way detracted from or was a low point of the concert. The second half of the concert also was definitely just as terrific as the first half. The only difference was that the first half had the “harder” songs genre-wise for the most part…but as someone who was present for the performance, I didn’t see or hear a single person voicing anything close to negative comments about any part of the set. He outdid himself.

@@OT7_DopeOldARMY I think you misconstrue the focus of my comments. Lollapalooza was fantastic. J Hope was amazing. The crowd was phenomenal. My comments were referencing what gets recommended. Two tracks in the concert were not composed by BTS or J Hope. Both connected well with the audience. But the balance of the concert was pure J Hope. If I am going to show off J Hope to a relative newbie, I am going to show that person why J Hope is super special, not simply a track I love which has J Hope on it. I respect your differing, but I personally am never going to lead a newbie to a cover without making it abundantly clear that what I am recommending is a cover. And for me having seen Chicken Noodle Soup at Lolla probably 10 times, each and every time I noted him sitting at the beginning of the song and not going full strength as it went on. To me, he was tired and deservedly so. BTS sets are designed to offer breaks. Lolla pushed the envelope. J Hope met the challenge but the second set which was dance heavy did not give him the pauses which refresh.

Guys, it is completely okay to not like a song. BTS has such a huge and diverse discography that it is only natural people won't love every single song released. I'm happy you checked the live performance - hope it will open the gate to you checking more live performances from BTS! TBH, most performances can be found with English subtitles so watching full concerts (RM, j-hope and SUGA have full performances for their solo albums) would be amazing to explore their other work. (I have to admit the most amazing thing would be if you reacted to Love Yourself or Speak Yourself tour - it is my favourite when it comes to narration through the concert and stage preparation). About Chicken Noodle Soup. Personally, I'm fond of it because of the meaning behind the song and the connection between Becky G and j-hope. It was amazing to watch them team up together to work on a song that was meaningful to them in the past.

Chix Nood was made in 2019 on his first foray into his 1st mixtape: Hope World, which has some killer tracks. Last June, J-Hope released his first album: Jack in the Box (you noticed the box in the mv). It is excellent: my favs, Arson, Stop, Equal Sign, Safe Zone. He then headlined Lollapalloza a month later debuting his album. But he also played some things from Hope World that are exceptional: Blue, Outro: EGO, Just Dance and Chic Food soup, bc you can't have show without Hobi doing some dancing. Anyway, Jack in Box and Lolla are def worth checking out more. I miss Hobi terribly and can't wait for his return for his mandatory military service.

PD: check out the rap line all together all 3 of them, my best recommendations are: 1. Ugh performance and also UGH explained by korean. (So u can understand the real meaning of it) 2. Chyper 4 ( the best one, but they have Chyper 1, chyper 2 and 3) 3. Tear: outro

Punk Rap🤘🏻 🖤 More is song 2 and Arson is song 6 on his most recent album Jack in the Box. And of course it is always different when someone writes a song and when they cover it. I don't know if you have seen the mv for Chicken Noodle Soup or just the live. The mv makes more sense. It was a weird hit in 2006 and has cultural meaning, mostly because of the dance that goes with it. I used to do the dance. 😂 Just like doing the stanky leg or the humpty dance. CNS has meaning to us because it has meaning to JHope. I love how Mike got that it was in his head right away. Check out Piece of Peace from Lollapalooza that song speaks to my soul. 😘💜🫰🏻

Chicken Noodle Soup MV was my intro to J-Hope and went down the rabbit hole of BTS ever since. It's okay if you didn't like it but I wouldn't have had you watch that performance of it as your intro the the song. Would have gone with the MV and then there's an iconic live performance with all the members involved that's a ton of fun. You may wanna check those out sometime. 💜

Please watch his concert you'll see that j-hope is best in live performances, specially with the live band. I feel like y'all might benefit as reactors from some off-camera listening as well ... like, I wouldn't (personally) mind if you looked up the whole album (in this case, Jack in the Box), reacted dry to the main releases (More and Arson, which you've done), then listened to the whole album straight through (with translations of course) and either just made a short highlights cut of that or even just used that viewing to inform further commentaries, without necessarily cutting the actual reactions together as a video. Like, listening to RM's two mixtapes and his recent album, or Suga's two mixtapes and his recent album, or j-hope's mixtape and his recent album (JITB), would take SO LONG this way -- but seeing how the main MVs fit in, and seeing the overall arc of their writing and delivery and composition, can only really be done listening to the albums as a whole. And it would probably deeply inform your understanding of all the music. Same for each BTS whole-group album, and for the recent releases by Jimin and V. Like, the songs are interesting on their own, but they are much more interesting in their musical and emotional context. ----- ... and there are some songs that are just kinda (or very much so) released for funtimes with ARMY. CNS is one of those. So are Dynamite, Butter, and Permission to Dance, which were deliberately upbeat and not super-dense, because of the pandemic and everyone needing something to raise their spirits. It took me a while to warm up to these as well because I was initially mostly digging the darker, intellectual, social revolutionary vibe of a lot of their work. A fun j-hope song that is bouncy AND emotionally plumbing some depths is Daydream. Watching that video, either on camera or on your off-time, might explain some of the aesthetics that are associated with the j-hope persona and that were seen in the second half of the Lolla performance, like during CNS. (A fun bouncy BTS song that also is deeper than it sounds like it has any right to be is Go Go, but it's a little challenging to find a subtitled performance for.)

This song, More, was the first song he released from Jack in the Box last summer. Then he released Arson. It was a big change in style and musicality for JHope and really surprised many ARMY. His lyrics have always been deep and sometimes dark but his music was typically more optimistic and upbeat. This hard rock style with the darker elements in his makeup and dress really introduced a new Jhope. JHope's nickname among the other members is Hobi. That's why it was funny when he introduced himself at Lollapalooza and said. I'm JHope but you can call me Jay. Sort of like an alter ego to the Hobi(Hope) identity. It's so interesting to watch reactions from people who are just meeting JHope now because some of you seem to have been introduced to "Jay" before "Hobi". Of course they are all a part of the Jung Hoseok we all know and love.

ITS a tribute to the dance scene and also its autobiographical to JHOPE and becky g who both got into music through American hiphop music. One thing about a lot of people when talking about army (BTS fandom), is that people are scared of us because we can get a little intense sometimes. The thing is, as much as we would love that the world saw BTS the same way as we do and loved them just as much as us, we know it's impossible. But we want everybody to respect them, always, because they never gave any reason to not to. So, it's honestly super fine that you didn't like one specific song, happens to everyone. I'm very happy you liked More. Hoseok is a very skilled lyricist, and he's very strong on references and word play, especially with expressions and words with double meanings. If you want to fully understand his songs, I advise reading translations on sites that add explanations to the lyrics, like doolset.

Subbed. I just binged through all of your reactions and I gotta say I really appreciate your honesty and how you explain your thoughts about the music so throughly. This is just my observation but other reactors seem to be more interested in the engagement that the fans bring to their videos than the music itself. And therefore their opinions are always - and I really mean always - positive and overly enthusiastic. What I'm trying to say is: you seem to be one of the very few reactors on this platform who don't give out fake compliments; so please don't change :D Based on your past reactions I'm not sure if you're going to vibe with the majority of BTS's discography. It's true that not all of their songs are pop but in my opinion they differ very much from the solo discography of the rap line. I'm not sure if you're going to like any of these but here are some song recommendations for your consideration: 1. Outro: Tear (rap line only; my favorite rap line song); 2. UGH (rap line only; you're very good at analyzing the songs on your own - better than some other reactors tbh - but this song has a lot of references to the Korean culture so it might be wise to also watch the explanation video made by "DKDKTV" otherwise you might get a little bit confused); 3. Dis-ease (rap line + vocal line; it's an old-school hip hop track that thematizes the feelings of the members during the pandemic;); 4. Set Me Free pt.2 (Jimin solo song; I'm recommending this song in particular because I would love to hear an unbiased opinion from people who are not into Kpop. When the song was released a few months ago it kind of divided the opinions of the kpop community. Some people really love it and some people hate it. I fall into the first category but I wouldn't blame you if you don't like it). I think this is the longest comment I've ever written on YT. I'm sorry 😅

The office is the corporate side of the success of BTS. When BTS first started, it was a very small company, BigHit; they were very happy with their CEO and his direction. But as the suits started being added in and Big Hit became Hybe, friction between Hybe suits and the members ensued. Mostly the members were disgruntled with having to do political stints with former SK president (2017-2022) and wife, trips with them to the states and so forth, doing music that was more mainstream in order to penetrate American pop market (all english songs), music written for them and them just performing, etc. They waited until their military services were starting to announce the break and plans to do some solo work. "More" is JHope's venting of what's been going on to let his fans know that he as an individual is just starting.

Will you go with their solos first and then go to the group itself? For now, you scratched into the rap line, but there are four vocalists with unique voices and music genres. If you meet their music first individually, then you will see the perfect synergy they give to the group and to each other. It's wonderful. I'm waiting for more videos. And ''Arson'' did come in the same album, but after the '' More'' MV.
