After I listened to Jack in the Box, I realized that it is not a new side of j-hope. It is the depiction of his vulnerabilities that we may have overlooked because we only saw his bright and happy side. This album sounded like a confession.

It's not dark. People aren't one dimensional. They experience all emotions. He's expressing the inner struggle he has, all of them have expressed this sentiment before of how they achieve all they wanted but now aren't sure about where to go, to continue on chasing higher or to just stop and be free. I am actually really impressed by bts because they actually understand these emotions so I don't see any of them eventually going crazy because of the fame or not knowing how to deal with it like many artists in Hollywood have in the past.

thing is, j-hope lived his "hopeful" persona and that's the side we enjoyed and loved but of course, he has a side that's not just about optimism. this is raw and his shadows and a huge part of him too, and he's sharing it with us. the lyrics is so thought-provoking and i love it so much. i'm sure you'll check out the entire album eh? i'm cool with this... i'm living for this "darkness."

If you've actually been knowing bts like that and thr members, you know that jhope and the others have said that he isn't always the bubbly persona we have always been accustomed to seeing. Like he said himself that he wanted to show that he wasn't limited to bright things. We have seen this before from him in instances throughout, i love that he is confident to show himself fully. Im in love through and through with his music range. And also as an ARMY I'm always open to whatever the boys are willing to let us hear and share. This album was everything for me.

As an old army and someone who pays attention to what the boys have said and shared through their content. This jhope is nothing new, we have seen glimpses here and there that he has allowed to see, and I love him for embracing it. Not every one should expect only bright dance songs, that's just limiting an artist and putting him in a box. Hoseok did his ish with this album. I'm going to treasure it forever. I feel like I got to know Jung Hoseok through this a bit better.

J-hope went fckn off on his album, he's a one-of-a-kind artist and a genius! Found out R Diggs’s aka RZA, the leader of legendary hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan co-written "What If" with him. Straight bops on the Jack In The Box. So happy for Hobi!

i always knew that hobi had a darker side to him, i mean he’s told us before that the concept of j-hope is sort of like a mask. he’s explored his darker side before but usually with upbeat songs. the songs sound positive but the lyrics have a twinge of darkness. i think what nobody expected was for him to fully explore his darker side and morph it into a concept and fusing the concept of hope with it. i feel like a lot of people put him in a box but i noticed that hobi tends to surprise a lot of people. he’s got many sides to him. i’m genuinely so happy and proud for hobi because he’s worked so hard on this. this is a great way to fuse him as jung hoseok and his persona as j-hope.

But, if we look at the album "Hope World", even with all the bright colors, the album had very impactful lyrics, like Blue Side, which shows this vulnerable side of him too

I am 55 years old and very new to BTS. I have so far enjoyed my journey and their music immensely. I cannot express how much I am enjoying J-hope's album Jack In The Box and the two MV this far. I loaded the album to my library today and have listened to it twice. I think because I am so new to BTS I don't have a one dimensional, pre-conceived view of the members. So J-Hope's showing he has more than one side to himself makes sense to me. People (hopefully) are not one dimensional . People grow and change, especially creatives. J-hope seems to me to be a very talented and creative person and should be able to express himself outside of his BTS persona.

I don't agree with the comment that ARMY wanted something different from MORE because we don't normally listen to songs like that. ARMY listen to a wide range of music genres and most ARMY love when BTS and BTS members switch up their style. BTS has always been experimental with their sound so I don't understand why people would think them trying something different would scare ARMY away. And this is also showing non-ARMY that BTS isn't just your average pop group, they do it all and they do it well.

j hope explains the whole 'jack in the box' album songs on his 2 hour v live. he did the videos very simple cause he wants us to pay attention to the lyrics and understand that there is a deeper side to him, not just the smiley, always happy j hope. he talked about his shadow is like suga's. the album is pretty good and each song is different and tells a story about his inner feelings.

This new jhope has the boom-bap beats of old Rm and the dark raw edgy persona of Agustd. Basically he is a love child of them both. And I'm here for it

I love this! Don’t assume ARMY only wants to hear one type of music. Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying. For me, BTS comes first and most in my playlist but everything else is very VERY varied. Many ARMY I have talked to are the same. J-Hope amazes me with his talent and range! Now let’s go listen where the listening counts today. 💜

I think that this song is about that struggle that BTS talked about of knowing whether to continue or not. Do I go out on top, do I try and exceed what I've already done? I think the way he expresses that struggle through his songs is telling of how difficult it was. Yeah not the kpop king music we might of been expecting but something incredible none the less and actually giving us some insight into the struggle they have been going through. I love it!

The name of the album is Jack in the Box. Maybe he felt like he was constrained to a certain image for so long that he wanted to break out and show what’s really in his heart. I like that he is showing that life isn’t always roses and sunshine. While he may be optimistic and bubbly for his fans, he has pain and worry and feelings of inadequacy, too. He’s just showing us that it’s ok to want more or feel like your world is burning down around you. As long as you know that there is still a bright side, which has also has. It could also be he wants to show his range as a singer and a rapper. Yes he can be fun and bright but he can also lay it down if he wants. Shows that he is the total artist!

I find it odd how there’s a lot of fans who never saw the other sides of Hope, like we been known he’s a VERY complex person by his lyrics, attitudes and the comments the other members have said, I like how he’s showing others that he’s not only “happiness and sunshines” I don’t think this is a concept, it’s just him

bro this album is like hes expressing wat he was goin trough, cuz he had a lot of struggles (ofc his a humanlike we all) but is not like a "new side of him" or a "new him".. is just him putting in music all the struggles and moments dat he thought abt give up. This album is a masterpiece, im lovin sm!!!! Jhope is such and talent (compositor, dancer, singer, rapper, actor, human being and a lot "MORE" huh hah) 🇧🇷🤍

I like this J-Hope A...LOT!!! It's a fuller version of himself. I don't even think that More or Arson are dark. I think they're expressive and creative songs and videos. I think ARMY appreciates BTS's diversity as a group and will support the members in whatever genre they chose to explore and share with us. J-Hope sharing this side of himself is not a departure, it's furthering his completion of himself. J-Hope feels strong in this and he's doing some serious heavy lifting. I'm here for it.

MORE is wanting for more work and his passion, and ARSON is the result of himself burned out because of too much passion/work, and success that gets out of control. I love the lyrics of ARSON more. Please react to his song "EQUAL SIGN (=) & "WHAT IF" it caters J-Hope's vocals & the lyrics are good too. thanks.

I like your reaction. Army listens to all types of music and all genre of music. I know people were very surprised at MORE and perhaps Arson as well but this IS J-Hope. Smiling bright sunny J-Hope is also. Aren't we all multi-faceted? I love that he is confident enough to show us another side of his artistry and I for one love this.

No, you are forgetting, when it comes to BTS, you have to expect the unexpected, I am loving this side of J-hope, it is what J-hope wanted to show us and I am impressed, of course it is J-hope, but his style being so marked ,he knows how to make music so different. I am completely impressed and loving this album. It is very refreshing music and it is appreciated that he is so sincere and vulnerable without being guided by what the public wants, he is willing to challenge him and that is what leads him to be a true artist. I don't know if I'm wrong but many continue to relate BTS and their members to kpop, and maybe that's why many don´t know what to think of J-hope's album, but remember that BTS has never adhered to kpop, BTS can do much more than a catchy song, J-hope's album is a work of art, every song is more than a hit.
