John David Souther (born November 2, 1945)[2] is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has written and co-written songs recorded by Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles. Souther is known for his songwriting abilities, especially in the field of country rock. He co-wrote some of the biggest hits for the Eagles, including "Best of My Love", "Victim of Love", "Heartache Tonight", and "New Kid in Town". "How Long", which appears on the Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden, was written by Souther and originally recorded on his first solo album in 1972. Souther recorded two major hit songs in his solo career: "You're Only Lonely" (1979) and "Her Town Too" (1981), a duet with his longtime friend James Taylor.wikipedia

How would you know? This is the studio recording laid over a silent video of the concert...no crowd noise, music out of sync with the lip movement...why can't people see this? Its Jack Cord and his fake video...Thanks Jack! You faked us!

It’s not a live performance. It’s the record.
Tema del Año 1979, yo tenia 10 años y el tema sonaba en Santiago de Chile en la radios FM, en T V, nada, y hoy recuerdo tan bello tema de mi infancia
It's not very often that a performer belts out a song live that sounds better than the studio version as JD Souther does here.

True, this is the original recording. I used to listen to this a lot when it first came out.

@@EviMlcak This is not the orginal recording. This is a live performance. All you have to do is search for and listen to the studio version of this song and it is obviously not the same as what is on this live video performance.
I remember seeing them live at the UW Stock Pavilion back in the day. I burnt my arm on a radiator ✌️ Madison WI... great memories.😊
Being alone has nothing to do with loneliness. Loneliness is a depressive issue. When you have a life filled with things to do, at the end of the day, you're too tired to be lonely .....

MANY IN THIS BAND LOOK RELATED.
Does a great duet w James Taylor " Her Town Too". Highly respected by people in the business. Believe he turned down a shot to join the Eagles. Believe he wanted to do his own thing.

AT SCHOOL IT LACKED MUSIC AS AN ATMOSPHERE WHERE STUDENTS WHO COULD PLAY WOULD BE GIVEN THE P.A. SYSTEM 1 LUNCHTIME A WEEK TO PLAY SONGS - WE HAD STUDENTS WHO COULD WRITE ABOUT SONGS BUT I WAS NEVER INFORMED IF THEY OR ANYONE COULD PLAY AN INSTRUMENT OR IF THEY EVEN KNEW HOW TO PLAY A COMPLETE SONG. I WOULD HAVE ENJOYED IT AND ADMIRED THEM, HAD THEY BEEN ALLOWED TO PLAY.
Super J.D.
Nice song
