Hi David, me neither. The original idea was to keep continuity and I was going to use the LPH80 for the rest of the work later down the line so I thought I would try it and it was a great little gun for it, cheers mate 👍

I used to use the LPH80 for clear coat on wheels, found it to be excellent gun for getting into spokes and things like that. Great little gun

Great review. Definitely my favorite gun of all time. I have 3 of them😂 Only have a small compressor, tiny booth, and only do small stuff for now, so perfect for what I do.

Hi Pete, great results with the LPH80 it laid the direct gloss down really nice and you could tell in the video that there was a lot less overspray than usual👏👌 I've used direct gloss a few times but I'm not that keen on it as it left my floor and walls in my booth feeling sticky, I noticed it on my feet that they were sticking to the floor😂 not sure why as it's similar to clear but there is something in the paint causing it maybe it's the pigment that hangs in the air more🤔🤷‍♂ The tank looked amazing outside at the end mate the gloss on that is just as good as a base and clear finish but as you say adding clearcoat to the mix helps👌thanks Pete👍

Hi John, 2k does tend to stay open longer, depending on hardener, temperature, etc, but all things equal, it takes a lot longer to go off, so that's probably the tacky feeling you're getting. I was amazed how well this little gun did with the direct gloss, I don't spray it a lot, but always use a 1.4 as it suits it well. The LPH80 is like a small DV1S, so it's not ideal, but it came out lovely. Cheers, buddy 👍

I'm painting a Suzuki 600 bandit tommorow direct gloss metallic black with a GTI prolite in a 1.4 and TE10 air cap going to use Nippon paint shipped from Japan I'm going to flat it back once cured airbrush some logos on and clear coat on top it should absolutely pop, great vid Pete 😊😊

If you like the side cup, the W50 Bisho is good, uses a bit more air, though at a higher pressure.

I was thinking picking up a WBX 1.3mm. I already have the lph80 1.2mm to get into painting! Should I wait on the WBX or would you recommend having both?

Hi Buddy, it depends on what you're doing really, the WBX is quite a jump on the LPH80. It uses much more air, around 5 to 6 times the amount, so you need a good supply. Certainly, if you want to do bigger projects, the WBX is worth thinking about. They are good 👍

He Pete I’m normally use the 80 as my main gun but also have the newer 50 and a Kawami 4 1.3.. I’m looking for a gun that will shoot larger areas but the kawami is a air and product hog. Lplv gun would be great but I’m hoping for something smaller then a full size gun. Something perfect for let say just a panel or two on a car, suggestions??

Hi Glen, the Kiwami4 you have is I presume the BA4J version?, if so, it is probably the most economical of any full-size gun on air consumption. There is a lot made of LVLP, but I'm very sceptical when marketing people put this on their products because any I have tried simply aren't. Thinking about your question, the only guns I can think of are the Devilbiss DV1S. These are around 5cfm at 26psi, so double what the LPH80 E4 uses at 14psi, but they are like a bigger LPH80 in terms of atomisation and fan size, however, they still aren't particularly fast so a few panels will still take time. The cheap R500 guns are touted as a LVLP in a similar ilk as the Kiwami4/W400 guns but its just a lie, they say the consumption is 3.5cfm when it's around 7.5cfm, just shy of your Kiwami4 BA4J

@@peteshobbies5383 thanks for the reply I think I’ll try the old gti pro-lite with a 1.3 and I also have an old iwata lph300 1.3 tip but it needs a new tip or something it just doesn’t spray right so I’ll try and fix that as well. Thanks again the pro-lite wasn’t much more then $100

what psi were you spraying clear at? I see the cap says 14 psi, but ive heard 18 psi for thicker clears

Hi buddy, I always use this at 1 bar, so around 14.5psi, it works perfectly at that, and that is the pressure Iwata recommends

They are fully interchangeable, so E2 and E4 cap both work fine

Hi Pete. I have a real problem with overspray when I spray clear on body parts like hoods/fenders/bumpers in my garage. I can see plumes of clear rolling out the garage. I dont want to upset my neighbors. Do you think an LPH80 would work for me if I maintain good overlap and keep a wet edge? I dont mind going slower I just want less overspray and still be able to flow out the clear. I usually use my FLG5 and my R500 with good results just more of the overspray that you get with a full size gun. I just recently purchased a used LPH400 1.3 LV4 in great shape off ebay. Its on the way but Im afraid that it might still create too much overspray.

Hi Marc, The LPH80 would do anything you want provided you are methodical about the way you go about it, and yes, it would cut down on the overspray as well. The LPH400 produces less overspray, too, provided you keep the pressure around 16psi. You can make a couple of extractors, I have 2 x 24" fans in a home made box with filter media, so the fans drag the air through the filter on the way out, cuts down on the visible overspray but not the smell unfortunately, but should help

@@peteshobbies5383 I bought one recently and been have running it between 1.4 - 2bar (perhaps 2bar is too high) and find it doesn't atomise the gloss nicely and haven't been getting a great finish with it. I'll try 1bar and see how it performs. Cheers

@ShardsOfShit Yes, certainly turn the pressure down. These are designed to run at 1 bar and running them higher can ruin the pattern and performance, in fact, too high with clear or direct gloss they are awful, so yes, turn it down and slow down, it's probably over atomisating

Great video again Pete, thank you. I love my LPH80 but I seriously struggle with clearcoat using my 1.2 tip with the E4 cap. I always end up with orange peel. My gun settings are full fan full fluid at around 15 psi. Clear coat is UPOL HS clear with fast hardner. I absolutely love the gun for spraying motorcycle parts, but clearing can be a challenge to lay it flat. Any tips? Many thanks 🙏🏼

Hi buddy, a few things, do you heat your Upol clear coat? , do you add thinners to it? If so, how much? Gun settings are perfect. What distance do you keep from the work?

Hi Pete, after watching your videos I now heat up my clear to 32/34 deg C. This helps hugely when it’s cold. I don’t use any thinners in my clear coat, could this be where I’m going wrong? If so, can I use any 2k thinners with UPOL HS clear? My spray distance tends to be around 3 to 4 inches. Thank you 🙏🏼

I often don't add thinners to my clear coat, but if you are having trouble with orange peel, it will help. Try adding 10% thinners first. If it's still peely, you need to slow up to get more material on. That should do it

Pete, I have an LPH80 with 1.2 also, never tried it with single stage paint though. you say the fan is small, but it looks almost as large as the chinese knock off prolite, LOL.

Is LPH stands for Low Pressure which is equivalent to Reduced Pressure in Sata?

Hi buddy, most gravity guns are low pressure compared to the suction guns that many used to use. Sata RP guns normally run between 2 and 2.5 bar, and this LPH80 with the E4 cap is designed to run at 1 bar

Hi Mark, that's a good question, I think it would but at the expense of depth of gloss, I have tried it with a better clear, Mipa CX4 and it's much more resistant, with the Upol I've found 3 or 4 lighter full coats with a suitable flash off time sorts it out, or a tack coat and a full wet coat although the depth of gloss isn't as good but fine for most applications especially commercials. Too much to soon tends to trap the solvent in, I know it's the case anyway. it just seems more prone to it when mixing with direct gloss

@bobwil9903 Arh, sorry, it's at maximum output, so around 9.5 bar

Just shoot only clear as the last coat. Mixing clear and single stage just makes it poor for coverage.. too transparent and then you need a lot of coats. ..dust becomes a problem with more coats.

It's depends on colour and what you are trying to do, I guess, I know lots that do it this way, it doesn't affect the colour much if at all but that obviously depends on how much clear you add and the colours you are using. If I'm shooting clear as the last coat, I would just as well do base and clear anyway as the time saving is negated any
