Here's my rundown on the personalities for Ivo Hugh and the No. 9 diesel Fred, which I have worked out based on the histories of their prototypes: Ivo Hugh - Very much the rookie of the group figuratively, having been built in the tourism era. Being strong and robust, but not having had any work experience like the other engines, being under the shadow of them, he has had to learn through trial and tribulation. Duke's guidance has been especially helpful to him and thus he, like Sir Handel and Peter Sam, refers to him as 'Granpuff'. Fred - He may be slow-moving and have no cab, but looks are deceiving; having worked in underground tunnels prior to coming to Sodor, Fred has attained an appreciation of people that is bigger than himself, surprising many other engines with how respectful he is toward them. Though principally used on maintenance trains in tandem with Rusty, who he has a funny dynamic with - underlying why we saw Rusty doing his work in 'Speed-killer'; he had played a practical joke when Rusty least expected it - he has also proved to be capable of the odd standby passenger duty. Ivo Hugh calling Duke “Granpuff” is I cute idea if there were a future story of them. A while ago when I saw this I thought of this for how this would play out and it is very wholesome. This is my new headcannon now because of this Edit: your descriptions for both Ivo Hugh and Fred are absolutely perfect
