IVE's Baddie is a song I normally wouldn't like, but I kinda love it.

IVE's final title track release of their recent EP has been, somewhat divisive amongst fans, which is completely okay. Feel free to share your thoughts respectfully down below.
Real question is, what is Kpop's obsession with CGI cats?

i think that the real purpose for this EP was early insurance that they wouldn't get locked into the whole elegant vibe. like it's a concept that works for them and that they're really good at, but it's always a good idea to make sure you don't get pigeonholed into a single concept too early. like i wouldn't be surprised if they went back to the elegant concept or something closer to it in the next comeback, but this EP in particular really feels like them making sure they have the space to pivot if they have to or if the girls want to, and in that sense it really worked.

I think Starship got worried about IVE getting enclosed in the "soft elegant" thing, and just did an album to deny that completely. I mean, the album is called I'VE MINE and all of the songs are diferent to IVE's usual sound, like literally stating "we have our little thing, but we won't be afraid to sway away from it, so don't get to used to the elegant style"

Nothing has displaced Love Dive as my favorite IVE song, but Baddie is fun. It was surprising, and cute, and I really enjoyed the stage. I dunno if it will stay on my playlist for long, but I like it a lot. I do agree though, that it doesn’t quite feel like IVE. It's nice to see them do something a bit different though.

I truly believe that Ive is one of the best groups in kpop industry but also one of the most hated with not reason. In this album they express themselves to concepts that people told they can't do it as an answer. First song Either way they aren't trying to be beautiful because a lot of people told that their success is because their beauty and they gave us a sad image as an answer. Second song Off the record is a song that they tried to make us seem them like girls and that they can have concepts retro like New Jeans. Third song baddie is a song that probably is a girl crush concept that most of their heaters told they can't do a concept like this. Ive is here not for views and success only but as artist you like them or not you can't say they are bad and don't see how talented they are. This feeling want to feel that people don't love them and hurt them every day trying to shut up their mouths

I like the song. I still like "Either Way" more. I plan on checking out the album when it drops. I dont think this is a miss, just different. Either way, multi-stans, we are eating well this month.

Some shots in the MV for 'Baddie' actually reminded me more of Red Velvet's 'Ice Cream Cake' rather than 'Birthday' cuz of the random large cats in Californian-like desserts.

Baddie should have been more rap and less repetitive, maybe even darker, sultry

I actually really loved this comeback! I feel like every girl has gotten to shine and show us how much they’ve improved. While I hear a lot of fans saying that members were mistreated, I feel like Gaeul and Rei, while they could have gotten more lines, still got to shine and had their moments (Gaeul is my ultimate bias)! Also, I’ve heard others complaining about Leeseo and Wonyoung being “favored by the company”, but they definitely both deserve the moments they got, and really fit the song imo. Leeseo stage presence improvement was CRAZY and I’m happy she got to show us just how much more charismatic she is! Overall, I’m really pleased with the “I’ve Mine” release, and all of the songs (and I mean all 6) were a really great addition to their discography!

I think it's a bit unfair to compare Ive promotions with Le Sserafim or NWJs anyways. Let's not forget that even if their agency is far from being small, it's not one of the Big 3+1. So they probably don't have as much ressources as them. If we want to compare, maybe we should take a group from a company of Starship size.

I feel like it's important for IVE to try different concepts, and switch it up here and there or else fans will get bored like what happens with lots of groups. They are also at the point of their career where they can really experiment, and this ep was a breath of fresh air. Either Way is a very beautiful song, off the record is chill vibes, and baddie is very fun and catchy. The b sides are good too.

It gave me same vibes as hypnosis 🤑like really that beats and lysrism is on top for me and each member has parts that compliment their style.

The way people were so shocked when this was released lolll... everyone and their mamas were commenting "wow I never realized IVE can do such a concept" or "the way IVE capitalizes off of their elegant concept and now they are doing something different is so new to me..." and honestly all these claims are very valid and true .. an artist can keep doing one such concept for the rest of their discography and musical identity but that would get very boring and repetitive.. an artist can truly blossom if they can experiment their music ... not everyone would be interested nor would agree or like but for the artist's sake and evolution if that makes sense, as they mature or grow so does their music and identity as a group.. I think that is definitely a healthy move going forward.. IVE is one such example.. if you compare Eleven to now.. their most recents, Either Way, Off the Record and Baddie.. the way they are all different in terms of musical instrumentations and flow and everything else a musical major would mention.. but all these songs have an 'IVE' quality plastered all over it.. like you wont mistake that song as another group's.. like it is solely an IVE song which makes it so interesting and in a good way, identifiable in the sea of other kpop groups.. another main highlight is their chemistry.. their passion and love for good quality music.. they truly are artists (and its sad that people thought of them as just moneymakers and only there for the fame bc it is SO NOT true at all.. one example is Wonyoung, who writes lyrics.. she wrote Mine, Shine with Me (both in the first full album of IVE called "I'VE IVE" and another song called OTT in their first ep called "I'VE MINE) so calling these girls untalented if thats even a word is sooo wrong for so many reasons .. if I can end this whole rant I have going is that the hate they received was completely absurd yet gave them such a strong motivation to keep going to pursue their dreams as artists and produce unique and beautiful music that fits their own style.. Baddie is like Kitsch 2.0 that got more raps, traps and accentuates a more rebellious noise compared to her sister Kitsch lol (which isnt a bad song it's just it seems a lot calmer than Baddie) overall IVE MINE as IVE's first ep mini album shares us their more darker side, they are revealing to us more of the vulnerabilities complete opposite of I AM era where they were shown as luxurious and high fashion models lol.. Dives are literally winning like we are so well-fed this year I hope IVE can continue being this good and amazing and produce such high quality music because they are honestly such a gem like nobody does it like them <3 thank you Taejiu for uploading this 🎊

i honestly love this type of music, and i also think that it fits thematically with off the record and either way. those two are more vulnerable songs and are expressing that there's more sides to them that people don't see. and then they drop baddie, a song that really doesn't feel like ive at all, but they pull off perfectly. they're essentially letting people know that their elegant luxury concept isn't all there is to them and that they wanna show that too.

Yeah, this type of song is normally not the type I would like, but SOMETHING about Baddie is drawing me in. Literally, I don't know what they did with this song, I really can't put my finger on it for why I love how it sounds so much. I saw someone say it's like hypnosis, and tbh that actually makes sense! It's so hypnotizing, it's almost like it drones on, but in a good way. It's very easy to let it keep playing over and over again. I saw others say it's monotonous in a bad way, but I think it's in a good way. Just like how monochromatic can be a good look, monotonous can be a good sound if it's done right. Also the MV reminded me HEAVILY of the Ice Cream Cake MV from Red Velvet so I definitely agree with the comparison of Baddie to Red Velvet.
